What film do me and DD10 want to watch tonight?

We always have a movie night on Saturday nights when her brothers go to bed, but tonight we're struggling for inspiration.

I want to watch The Holiday but she says there's too much yucky romance and kissing - does anyone have any suggestions for anything similar that we'll both enjoy?

Last Christmas! With Emilia Clarke

Love this one

How about Contact? It's a PG so not too adult but note that the protagonist's father dies when she's a similar age to your daughter. It's about making contact with aliens but not having any proof afterwards ;) Carl Sagan wrote it - he was one of the people who worked with Frank Drake who, 50 years ago today, sent a coded message into space via radio waves (the Arecibo Message).

She won't let me watch this one because I said Henry Golding was handsome Grin she's completely adverse to anything vaguely romantic at moment!

Yes Day.

Forget it's name but the movie about the first woman to swim the channel. DD is 8 and absolutely loved it, so inspiring.

We ended up watching Enola Holmes and she absolutely loved it. Thanks for all the recommendations - we'll definitely be coming back to this thread for some of the others!
