I have been waiting with anticipation for the Christmas selling to start and we have a cracker here! From the badly coloured in nose on the reindeer, to the 'script' that wonkily says 'DEAR SANTA', I cannot wait to hand over £8 (each) for these beauties...

Thank you @Thelavha! That's what I referring to upthread but searched ebay and couldn't find it. I didn't believe for one minute that it could have been sold!

I'm happy now - thanks for making my day! It's so unbelievable!

Haha I love these threads. May I submit these pet memorial decorations being sold locally to me?

My cat would haunt me forever if I was to put such a monstrosity up in his name Grin

I think we should club together and send him the money on the proviso it gets put up every year and never sold.

BadLittleBunny · 22/11/2024 11:14

I could swear that's not the original that's been on sale for years. I seem to remember it had far more tiers, but maybe the horror burned itself differently into my mind?!

I don't think it is either. I thought the original was bigger, like you say more layers and more detailed

Hohohopeful · 22/11/2024 22:23

I love that ebay one. I clicked on the seller though and he has 99.9% positive reviews for over 40,000 sales! He has other even more expensive things on there (though no other home made). Never occurred to me before he may have a successful ebay business.

AngryLikeHades · 22/11/2024 22:25

This looks absolute shite.

One of my neighbours has something similar in their living room window 🤣

I'm so disappointed that in true spirit of a MN Christmas I offered him £2 for it and he declined my offer..

I have a vague memory of a train.....?

ImJustAGirlInACountrySong · 23/11/2024 00:23

Oh wow those are AWFUL!!!

Who tells these people that they will sell!??

Whatthefuck3456 · 23/11/2024 02:25

Maybe these people know it’s tatt however are in poverty and these are desperate measures to get their child a Christmas present!

Youngatheart00 · 23/11/2024 02:50

I don’t know whether this is because I’m hormonal but…..

The handcrafted things where someone has put an effort in, however shite the outcome, I do find kind of heartwarming / heartbreaking in equal measures.

I’m referring to things where time has been put in, it’s genuinely handcrafted, the price point is not excessive , and not mass produced shite as per the site mentioned above. Neither am I talking about someone who ‘creates’ by tipping quality street etc into a basket and thinking it’s saleable.

Mind you; I was always the one who bought some kind of knitted animal / doll at the Christmas Fayre if a sweet old lady was behind the stall, and also used to feel sorry for the library books no one had taken out for years so make a point of reading them 😬 wow - that all sounds tragic!! Note to self - toughen up!

That merry go round thing for £600 odd quid is absolutely absurd!! Didn’t warm my heart one tiny bit, just gave me palpitations! 🤣

Not to be too pedantic, but that shape looks suspiciously moose-like to me. As opposed to the humble re(i)ndeer.

black and white running GIF

I too thought Moose- Reindeer are much more refined looking and have more obvious horns.

Oh goodness yes! I love a little woolly toy! Someone at Whippet rescue knitted a teeny tiny little dog and I bought the knitted coat to get the dog! - someone's Auntie knitted a 'sausage dog' and I bought that, too...love them! {Whippet rescue dog is here...} I too used to feel sorry for the unread library books!

My husband actually felt sorry for some frozen fish left behind in the freezer once!

475 viewed in the last 24 hours. I wonder if he ever wonders where the increase in interest comes from at this time every year.

Thelavha · 23/11/2024 07:57

I have had that on my watchlist for a few years so I think it is the original, but now I'm having some strange mandala effect because I feel like it used to be bigger too?
