Do you spend money every day?

I do and I’m really trying hard to have some no spend days but there’s always something! Even just needing bread and milk and this suddenly turns into spend &10/£15 in Tesco picking up other bits. Other days can be train fare to work and then realising I need a drink/snack to go with lunch I’ve brought. It’s not massive amount every day but after looking at bank statement there’s something on there every day! Anyone else?

No but then I work at home and very few shops here so probably 3 days I spend

Positivenancy · 12/11/2024 20:09

No I didn’t spend money on Sunday or Monday.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 12/11/2024 20:09

Absolutely. Thanks to the rise of online shopping and apps I seem to have loads of little charges every day even if I don't leave the house 😬

Yes but rarely anything beyond the everyday. Petrol, food, pet food, bills. Yesterday I paid for a prescription, today I bought the dog a bone!

Lovemusic82 · 12/11/2024 20:15

Yes, pretty much. I do a £50 shop on Sunday and then pop to Lidl 2 or 3 times….I might pop to the farm shop or butchers, often grab a coffee or a sandwich out at lunch time 😬….and then there’s Amazon (random things I need).

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 12/11/2024 20:18

No. Monday to Friday I spend no money in person - I drive straight to work, take lunch in from home, have my own tea/coffee at work, drive home, so don't have the opportunity to spend money. I do buy stuff online quite often, but certainly not every day.

Furrzu · 12/11/2024 20:19

No. Groceries on Saturday or Sunday. 2 intentional no spend days every week.

GOODCAT · 12/11/2024 20:20

Yes, I catch the bus 5 days a week. On a weekend I normally swim one day. Also there is usually some form of payment on the other e.g. hair cut, travel to visit family so put fuel in car, meet friends for a coffee or something along those lines.

ViciousCurrentBun · 12/11/2024 20:21

Well this week I have spent from Sunday
65 food shopping
1,350 on a new mattress
2.30 on a coffee

Tomorrow and Friday will be no spend at all days, Thursday will be lunch out so about a tenner.

ByMerryKoala · 12/11/2024 20:21

Yes. Pretty much. How else do you keep all the wheels turning?

Daisy12Maisie · 12/11/2024 20:23

Yes most days but not a huge amount. Food and petrol. I shop at Aldi and home cook every night. I take left overs to work.
I pay for school dinners for my son though.
This month - Christmas presents.
Other fairly common big expenses- house repairs, car repairs.

FiveTreeHill · 12/11/2024 20:24

Most days, yes

WhatTheFudges · 12/11/2024 20:26

I can go months without spending. At the start of the month I put everything into “spaces” for all my bills, petrol, meds and lunch. Anything after that it’s very rare I spend, I’m a saver and love getting interest at the end of the month.

CrushingOnRubies · 12/11/2024 20:26

No try to have 3 no so spend days a week.

WorriedMillie · 12/11/2024 20:26

Nothing today, due to a long work day, I do spend most days though, there always seems to be something we need!

Whatnextaaaahhh · 12/11/2024 20:26

Yes, even on wfh days DS will need money for something- training cost, money to travel to a match etc. It's rare to have a no spend day.

Scottishskifun · 12/11/2024 20:27

Not usually no I spend money at the weekend with the kids though and at the beginning of the month for bills and do online food shopping every 10 days.
I order double milk, bread and crumpets and freeze it with the shop. If you have freezer space then this can help stop the top up shops.

Wardrobebirth · 12/11/2024 20:28

Yes, pretty much. Even if I don’t go out all day I still end up buying something online.

Pickandmixmood · 12/11/2024 20:30

Yes and I’m grateful that I don’t have to worry about how much I spend.

Stretchedresources · 12/11/2024 20:31

No. I try to not spend money on either Saturday and / or Sunday. I work and live in a town centre so I can get everything monday to Friday, focuses my to-do list a bit.

coxesorangepippin · 12/11/2024 20:31

Most days, yes

TheWoodpeckerSighed · 12/11/2024 20:33

I'd say most days no. In fact, I'm kind of surprised people have time to. Drive to work before 8am and leave between 5 and 6. Only one tiny village shop and don't get much of a lunch hour anyway so always take lunch with me. Drive home, collect children, tea, bath, bed. Might order something online once a fortnight at most. Go to supermarket etc on my day off or at the weekend.

Floralnomad · 12/11/2024 20:35

Not usually , probably 4/5 days per week .

AgileGreenSeal · 12/11/2024 20:36

No, I don’t spend every day. But I find if you don’t carry it you don’t spend it.

Tarnishedbutton · 12/11/2024 20:36

I was wondering this and am very interested in the thread.
I often find lots of little transactions throughout the days and there can easily be a few little bits and bobs - our drinks machine at work is 60p but can use card, need a bit of fruit at lunch time Etc. Etc.
Don't get half as many complete no spend days as I would like, low spend absolutely, directional spending no spends yes but zero no unfortunately.
