I am meant to be sleeping but my three delightful guinea pigs are trashing the joint! Do they have to tear cardboard with their teeth so loudly? 😁😁 it's a good job that they're cute and I adore them!

So why are YOU up?

I haven't slept properly in months, last week was the worse ever. A week surviving on 2 hrs a night. Now I know why its a form of torture. Spend the night so anxious that causes chest pains and there's no way I'm falling asleep in that state. Have 2 parents in care homes, ones end of life, 1 late stage dementia, worrying about work and I'm struggling to cope

Because DC (3) couldn't sleep, got brought into bed with me at my bedtime (as I just wanted to sleep being near 34 weeks pregnant) and then woke up around a hour ago coughing, screaming their ears hurt. Gave them some calpol which they promptly threw back up all over my, clean on yesterday, bedding. Settled them back down only for oldest DC to come into my room crying saying they "felt left out" by the fact younger DC was being allowed to stay in my bed. Eventually got older DC to stop being over dramatic and go back to bed (they are still awake!) only for youngest DC to suddenly want to potty train (have been trying for months!!) and demand they go to the bathroom... Get back into bed, settle down and the bloody cat gets the zoomies...

I might as well say good morning and start the day 😂🤔

Oh and to add, baby bump is now kicking and rolling away inside me. DH snores soundly.

Oh wow! You’re the living embodiment of Super-mum. 👏🏼

I’m 19 weeks pregnant with only 1 DC who is 23 months.. and I thought I had it hard. Seeing how you’re juggling, seemingly without too much help from the DH, gives me hope.. I’m so worried about how I will cope towards the end of my pregnancy, and with a new baby (to be delivered via C-section) as toddler is demanding and DC seems to be snoring away, even during waking hours.

@TheMamaLife you got this, you adapt as you need to once you get to these stages you are worried about. I did end up taking the car on the school run in the morning instead of our usual walk as youngest DC and I were still in our PJs having snoozed the alarm a bit much (fell asleep around half 5!) but came home, got sorted then my nesting kicked in so I've gutted two rooms (to the point of cleaning the bloody walls and picking up new furniture lol) You'll soon find you just crack on with things.

And I was prehaps a little unfair last night, DH was awake for some time but dosed off and as he works I left him snoring away. Had DC thrown up again DH would have been swiftly kicked 😂

Thank you so much. I hope I do adjust. 💙❤️

And I hope you have a better night tonight! (I was also up at 5:30 this morning trying to get the toddler back to sleep.. I was being harsh to my DH too - he leaves for work at 5 am and I’m not working at the moment, so it is fair in the grand scheme of things).

Helplessandheartbroke · 08/11/2024 02:32

2nd night In a row with ds and heartburn tonight too....

CalicoPusscat · 08/11/2024 02:39

I woke up at 2am, might get a hot drink soon.

Nasty cold recently but it's clearing

pitterpatterrain · 08/11/2024 02:41

Different time zone - at work, thinking about what to have for lunch

Perimenopause insomnia rubbish

Neilsfavouritechilli · 08/11/2024 02:44

I'm up if anyone else still is. Perimenopausal insomnia. I've dealt with some work emails and finalised a report. I've held off on send until the morning as I don't want people to think I'm permanently available or that early hours working is normal.

Outandabout43 · 08/11/2024 02:44

Woke up having a coughing fit

SomeSuperhero · 08/11/2024 02:45

Awake again tonight. Craving some hot, buttery toast. May get some.

Guavafish1 · 08/11/2024 02:46

Migraine

CherryColaZero · 08/11/2024 02:55

My toddler has been awake for almost 3 hours now 😲 I have to get up at 6 for work.

JustAboutMuddlingThrough · 08/11/2024 03:02

I've been asleep, but woke up in a panic that I'd slept through my alarms for work. Looked at the time and realised I hadn't and could go back to sleep for 3 more hours. Only now I'm wide awake. I'm only working till 2pm but I can sense it's going to be a long bloody day! I haven't been sleeping great as it is at the moment either due to stress

ForeverinBJ · 08/11/2024 03:04

Night Shift

Copenhagener · 08/11/2024 03:10

35 weeks pregnant and I wake up every single night from 3-5am. I’m so ready to evict this little body tenant.

Childfreesummer · 08/11/2024 03:12

It’s my 40th birthday and I should be having a restful sleep followed by breakfast in bed. Instead my 8 year old climbed into our bed at what I think was 1 am. She wished me happy birthday after she settled in. Not what I was looking for at that time. After trying to sleep with her twisting and turning and kicking the duvet off me I gave up and retired to her bed at around 2.20 but now I can’t sleep so mumsnet it is.

Babyboomtastic · 08/11/2024 03:13

Coming up to 2 hours awake with my 5yo who has sleep issues. Urgh.

Zippedydodah · 08/11/2024 03:26

I have no idea why I’m awake, thankfully I’m retired so as exasperating as it is, it really doesn’t bother me too much. I don’t sleep well nowadays.
I’m slightly envious of those of you with snuggly babies and toddlers, I so remember that wonderful sense of awe and how incredibly special a time it was. They grow up so fast. I was very lucky to spend a lot of time with my DGCs when they were tiny, I have so many wonderful memories.
I send hugs to you with worries, the night hours are interminably long when you’re beset by fears and stress (I’ve been there).

Tarkan · 08/11/2024 03:36

I've been my usual night owl self and was trying to complete a hard level on the game I've been playing but failed it so many times in a row I had to give up and go to bed.

DH is working nightshift so I have the bed to myself but our neighbour's dog has been barking for a while now which is keeping me awake so I'm just scrolling on MN between watching some hoof trimming videos.

trader21c · 08/11/2024 03:41

I’m freelance so worrying about getting more work …

irked1 · 08/11/2024 03:56

I had real coffee this morning (usually only drink decaf) and am still WIDE AWAKE. Argh.

worriedhidinginplainsight · 08/11/2024 04:27

I'm just worried about everything and I have lost track of night and day! It's good to hear about your piggies, there is something very cute about pets being nocturnal. I have a cat and I trained him to stay asleep at night.... but now I can't sleep I would like his company but he won't wake up 😀

romdowa · 08/11/2024 04:28

Morning sickness is starting pretty early today , so I'm awake clutching a bowl

CalicoPusscat · 08/11/2024 04:40

I've had quite enough honey and lemon so may have tea and cake now.

Put fatal attraction on, it's miles more disturbing than I'd remembered!!
