I am meant to be sleeping but my three delightful guinea pigs are trashing the joint! Do they have to tear cardboard with their teeth so loudly? 😁😁 it's a good job that they're cute and I adore them!

So why are YOU up?

Up feeding my 5 month old 🤱 🥱

SwingsAndRoundabouts22 · 07/11/2024 02:46

Heard toddler calling out for grapes. Went into room to check and they have a fever of 38.9. Gave Calpol and they promptly vomited on my feet. Now I'm sitting on bed watching them drift back to sleep.

@Hillrunning what does the pain feel like? I'm no expert, but if it is a squeezing, crushing pain, that needs looking at.

It's stabbing I guess. Fairly constant. Think it is 'only' anxiety

Husband’s in hospital for the third time in six weeks. Just can’t sleep.

Hugs for you

QueenBitch666 · 07/11/2024 02:48

Insomnia due to family illness and despair. Wine is helping somewhat

TheMamaLife · 07/11/2024 02:49

DC was tossing about too much, (co sleeping at the moment). I thought his nappy might need changing. That was about an hour ago.. now doom scrolling on MN threads

I'm up with chest pains. I think it is stress related but I'm also not sure when you are supposed to be concerned about chest pain.

My job is horrible and I am so sad about it.

Be concerned when it’s woken you up at night / keeping you awake.

Please go see a GP to rule out anything physical. Get signed off from work for a week or two.. (or take annual leave if you don’t want them to know why you’re taking a break) and use the time to think things through a little. Sometimes you need space to think clearly. Allow yourself this otherwise the days and weeks will fly by with your still in a horrible situation.

Best of luck to you.. I hope it gets better.

Fell asleep with DC at 8pm, which was too early for me. Woke about 2 hours ago, will fall asleep in the next half an hour, then wake up after my alarm goes at 5.30am 😱😱😱

I've got 6 work meetings scheduled for tomorrow, including 2 interviews which will take me to 5pm, and I know I'll be struggling with tiredness/sluggishness by about 2pm. Going to try and drop myself out of some of those meetings...

Starseeking · 07/11/2024 02:56

I e got 6 works meetings scheduled for TODAY not tomorrow!

Aww bless their little socks.. so hard when the kids are ill. Wishing them a speedy recovery, and lots of rest for you!!

InsomniaBites · 07/11/2024 03:00

@starseeking I think we have parallel lives, although thankfully no interviews on my list today. I would so love not to have insomnia.

Gymnopedie · 07/11/2024 03:02

The ultimate night owl. At 2.15 when the thread started I was giving myself a pedicure.

birdiesings · 07/11/2024 03:06

I'm a night owl. My sleeping pattern is disastrous.

Currently zooming through a library book that should have been returned last week Blush

Bun fights on Mumsnet of course 😭

Lately I have been overwhelmed by my workload, and instead of actually getting on and doing the work, I lie in bed thinking about how much work I've got to do, and what I'm not doing at that moment! There must be a name for that behaviour other than procrastinating 🧐🧐🧐

Sitting up with my 8 month old on my chest she won’t let me put her down in bed or her cot. Listening to the husband snoring.
Enjoying the snuggles and wishing I had put a blanket near by.

SapphireSeptember · 07/11/2024 03:12

Night owl here too. I either fall asleep on the sofa or I'm up until silly o clock. I have a nearly 4 months old DS so I should be sleeping! I was up at 5:50am yesterday morning as well. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Dita73 · 07/11/2024 03:12

Can’t sleep. Trying to decide whether or not to pay £20 on Amazon Prime to watch the Joker film. Everyone has said it’s not good but I’m still curious

I’m in hospital, I had a stoma reversal operation over two weeks ago and am in agony with constipation.

Ahh sweet... so has my husband.
His involved his sigmoid, and it so hurts the bottom third of his spine when the pressure builds... sending you love and courage 🥰

Thank you this is such sensible advice. I'm absolutely going to give myself some time to process and get to the gp.

OnNaturesCourse · 07/11/2024 03:18

Because DC (3) couldn't sleep, got brought into bed with me at my bedtime (as I just wanted to sleep being near 34 weeks pregnant) and then woke up around a hour ago coughing, screaming their ears hurt. Gave them some calpol which they promptly threw back up all over my, clean on yesterday, bedding. Settled them back down only for oldest DC to come into my room crying saying they "felt left out" by the fact younger DC was being allowed to stay in my bed. Eventually got older DC to stop being over dramatic and go back to bed (they are still awake!) only for youngest DC to suddenly want to potty train (have been trying for months!!) and demand they go to the bathroom... Get back into bed, settle down and the bloody cat gets the zoomies...

I might as well say good morning and start the day 😂🤔

Oh and to add, baby bump is now kicking and rolling away inside me. DH snores soundly.

Frenchyq25 · 07/11/2024 03:18

Insomnia...I managed to get to sleep ok, but wake up around this time every night. Don't think it helps that I'm sleeping on the sofa bed in the spare room but I asked my husband to leave a month ago, so best we sleep separately until he leaves.

It sounds like stress 😣 Is there a lot of extra pressure at the moment?

Sitting awake feels like a waste of my time and I want to log on and try to catch up with myself, but I know if I do it won't actually make it better, because by the end of the day I'll be exhausted and making silly mistakes. It's lose-lose but I can't figure out what to change to make things better
