Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

Richmond, all about 20 years ago: Jerry Hall in HMV, Richard Ashcroft outside the department store, Andrew Marr with family in Gourmet Burger.
Gordon Ramsay in Battersea Park (I was running, nearly mowed him down)
Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol singer) having a giggle to himself while walking in Crawfordsburn, N. Ireland.

Saw Warwick Davis on a Segway at a small caravan park. Saw him a few times during the week around the site on his Segway.

We saw Warwick Davis whizzing through the Arndale on his Segway 😊

YourJadeCat · 07/11/2024 20:48

Just remembered paul daniels and debbie mcgee walked past us in Weymouth when i was a kid

FayMac · 07/11/2024 20:53

Nadia Sawalha in a class at my local yoga studio - I kept thinking she must be someone I’d met through local friends who know everyone as she looked familiar until I realised!

LunaNorth · 07/11/2024 20:59

Nigella Lawson on a Gregg’s advert, just now.

lissie123 · 07/11/2024 21:01

Esme Young from Sewing Bee last night in a restaurant in Chelsea. Liz Hurley in Waitrose. John Malkovich having coffee sitting opposite me in a sports club in Teddington. David Suchet in Waitrose discussing cheeses with his wife.

Anoone · 07/11/2024 21:10

Dame Judi Dench in my local Waitrose and local Haskins garden centre. 😃

Pebbles16 · 07/11/2024 21:16

Live in London so a fair few.
Probably the most random was circa 1974 - Mum heavily pregnant with my sis (me a small child), we were flying back from Germany where my Dad was working. John Cleese literally reached over my Mum at the conveyor belt to get our suitcases off. We are Hobbit-like people and were thankful for his height!

Once I saw one of the Cheeky Girls at a National Trust property tea room in Kent 😂😂

I saw both of the Cheeky Girls at Oxford services 😂😂

Actors John Thomson, Suranne Jones and Sue Cleaver are often seen in shops in Didsbury. Assume they live locally and need to get their shampoo from somewhere.

Robert Plant EVERYWHERE. He lives up the road and it seems we shop and watch football in all the same places.

Ha - I see him a lot too. Most recently in the King and castle!

Tony Blackburn walking down out very rural high street carrying a net of logs.!

LyndaSnellsSniff · 07/11/2024 22:07

Roger Black walking his dog in some woods local to me (and him, clearly!)
Roger Black standing next to me at the "print your own photos" machines in Boots.
Vincent Simone from Strictly driving out of my road. I do believe his registration number read something like "passion".
Vincent Simone in Boots (yes, the same Boots as Roger) just standing there wearing sunglasses indoors
Roger Taylor, Penelope Keith, Julie Walters and Bruce Groblar (not sure of spelling) all came into a shop I once worked in. Individually, not en masse. My colleague sneezed and Julie Walters said "bless you. I hope you're not getting a cold.
Sat opposite Michael Burke on a train.
Michael Burke walking his dog at a local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. He was disappearing round the corner so I sped up to confirm celeb spot. Tick.
Kerry Katina sat on the kerb in my local high street. Just sat there doing nowt.
Simon Peg hurtling down Tottenham Court Road. Very short if I remember correctly and weighted down by various chain accessories on his jeans.
Rob Beckett on WH Smith at Charing Cross Road. Shortish, oddly large head.
Sandi Toksvig wearing dungarees in my local high street. Weirdly, it was at exactly the same time that she was allegedly presenting her "live" radio programme. It was definitely her though.

I used to work at a hotel as a wine waitress, over 20yrs ago when I was 19, they used to have quite a few events where Celebs were the entertainment, I’ve met frank carson, Bobby Davro, Jim Davidson , hale and pace, Clare balding, Jasper Carrot, French and Saunders ladies to name a few of the 90’s celebrities!

I know Lee Hendrie from my school days.

Also where I live Alison Hammond rmoved from out of the area to her now new home and saw her a numerous amount of times in local sainsburys with her son,and what’s even more strange is my partners cousin went to same school with her and has her as one of friends on face book, Another u see on our high street is football manager Steve Bruce, he has family living in our area, there are also a few football players for Aston Villa that live near by so you do see a few faces about that have celeb status,

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 07/11/2024 22:11

Im 99% certain I saw Joanna Page, James Norton and their youngest DC in a Weatherspoons this week.

I don't know why i find that unexpected, other than I think of Spoons as cheap and cheerful and not somewhere I'd easy of I was rich. But then again, I like to think celebs are down to earth.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 07/11/2024 22:12

Oooo! I almost forgot! Bonnie Langford in a branch of Accessories being incredibly flexible. Paul Weller buying hair clips for his young daughter in the same branch of Accessorize in which Bonnie Langford flexed so admirably.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 07/11/2024 22:12

I've also seen Mr Tumble Justin Fletcher in Sainsbury’s. Ian Waite when he was still a strictly pro in Miller and Carter, and Lenny Henry at a friend's school play as a teen.

Literally nobody!
My grandma saw Pete Doherty in a shop about fifteen years ago. That’s the best I’ve got.

I’m quite impressed that your grandma recognised Pete Doherty! Or am I showing my age??

PanettoneSoprano · 07/11/2024 22:16

Michael Palin in Homebase.

Anna Maxwell Martin in Waitrose.

Mick Jagger outside a hotel in Berlin.

PanettoneSoprano · 07/11/2024 22:20

Oh and Nicky Clark(e) in Bath.

peanutmother · 07/11/2024 22:20

Name?

U13579 · 07/11/2024 22:22

Sadly I have a feeling I wouldn't notice/recognise someone famous in an unexpected place. I've probably bumped into loads and didn't realise!

KimberleyClark · 07/11/2024 22:22

Lauren Oakley from Strictly on the platform at Reading station.
