Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

When I lived in Looe, Cornwall, I was walking through the town and realised that Richard Madeley was walking towards me. I smiled at him, but his he just looked really angry and didn't smile back. It wasn't like I was harassing him for an autograph or something lol

My friend passed Annie Lennox in Woolworths in Cape Town, she was pushing a trolly.
Sat next to Liz Mclarnen at an Atomic Kitten concert.
Bumped into Lolly at another concert and she greeted me like an old friend.
Know Sue Pollard from meeting her abroad and in this country.
Served Ken Buchanan (boxer) once.
Had Elaine C Smith and Jordan from River City in my house one Christmas.

CatAndHisKit · 07/11/2024 19:52

Joan Collins and husband in Waitrose (albeit this was n Knighstbridge near their apartment / house). But I didn't know they lived in the area.
Bill Nighly in the (smaller) Hyde park cafe.

Runs4buns · 07/11/2024 19:58

I once served Nile Rogers Fish and Chips in the pub I worked at in my youth - he was staying there as he was doing a festival down the road. Said they were the “best damn fish and chips” he’d ever had

CatMum27 · 07/11/2024 19:59

Saw Jimmy Hill admiring the exhibits when I went round the Millennium Dome.

Freddie Highmore used to come into my workplace when he was studying - took me a while to place him as he’d grown a bit by then.

restingbitchface30 · 07/11/2024 19:59

saw Jason manford playing with his kids in the park one day. I did the usual ‘sure I know him from somewhere’ thing until it clicked. He was having a whale of a time, seemed like a great dad. Saw Kim marsh on a night out. She’s tiny. Freddie flintoff in Pizza Hut, he’s huge!

TinyRebel · 07/11/2024 20:05

Eddie Izzard at a restaurant. He bent over in his fishnets and leather mini and we got an eyeful. 🤮

I was shopping in central London at Christmas about 10 years ago and saw Will Young and Adele within 5 minutes of each other.. my husband saw Warwick Davis at the airport pushing a huge luggage trolley.

Saw Warwick Davis on a Segway at a small caravan park. Saw him a few times during the week around the site on his Segway.

PracticalLady · 07/11/2024 20:10

We were behind John Cooper Clarke and his manager (?), booking into Hotel Du Vin in Bristol a few years ago. Saw them again at breakfast. I was too shy and respectful of his privacy to approach him. Another time we saw Christopher Biggins and his hubby while waiting to cross the Channel Tunnel. People were approaching him and he seemed to be in his element and as friendly as he appears on tv.

My mum was in a hotel at Manchester airport and got in a lift to see Roy Chubby Brown already in there.

i sat next to Steve McFadden ( Phil Mitchell from Eastenders on a flight to New York many years ago. We got drunk!

John Thompson is M&S lift in year Trafford Centre

I saw him in a pub in Cheadle very drunk (years ago)

my slightly better spot is Bill Clinton in one of the art galleries in Barcelona. Not long after he left the presidency. He had a lot of minders and got a lot of attention. The best I could blurt out was “how’s Hillary”?

I saw bbc midlands today reporter Ian Winter at Birmingham Library. We were up the top outside. My boyfriend at the times name was Ian and I was calling his name as I knew I knew this bloke from somewhere but couldn't think where. So Ian Winter turned round because I'd called his name even though it was my boyfriend I was calling

Saw the actor who plays Eric Pollard in asda

Saw Alison Hammond in a park dressed as wicked stepmother from cinderella. She was doing panto at nearby theatre and they were doing promotional photos.

Went past Emmerdale actors Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) + Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) walking hand in hand through Coverack in Cornwall. Apparently they got married there a few days earlier.

Clearinguptheclutter · 07/11/2024 20:15

Oh and for Mancunians, San Carlo’s restaurant is very good for spotting footballers and Corrie cast members.

Saw Jimmy Hill admiring the exhibits when I went round the Millennium Dome.

Freddie Highmore used to come into my workplace when he was studying - took me a while to place him as he’d grown a bit by then.

So Freddie Highmore was more high?

I'll get my coat.

No word of a lie but I have seen Guy Pierce and Jason Donovan (on separate occasions), shopping in my local Sainsburys. If only Kylie would turn up lol.

Meltdown247 · 07/11/2024 20:25

Normaja · 06/11/2024 21:05

Oh I did see Tess Daly at the panto once. She was with one daughter I think who was young at the time. She was in the row in front of me and I remember thinking it was odd someone rich and famous would have such shit seats.

Princess Anne 2 rows ahead on a flight from Toronto. Her hair remained immaculate throughout the flight.

LadyWiddiothethird · 07/11/2024 20:29
