If you could have any cake you wanted, what would it be?

I love Bakewell Tarts and fruit scones. Cake wise, I do like a chocolate or Dundee cake.

Comedycook · 05/11/2024 20:48

Coffee cake that hasn't been ruined with walnuts.
Traditional Victoria sponge
Ginger loaf cake
Flapjack
Shortbread
Fruit cake, a nice simple one with no mixed peel and not so much fruit you can't see the cake.
Lemon drizzle

All the above are things I would happily buy!

Not a fan of the current trend for everything being ultra loaded like super chocolatey brownies that are stuffed with chocolate bars. or layer cakes that are so high they are impossible to eat. Or cupcakes that are more icing than cake.

Anjo2011 · 05/11/2024 21:21

Iced bun with some currants/sultanas

NoraLuka · 05/11/2024 21:23

WYorkshireRose · 05/11/2024 21:25

Lemon drizzle
Millionaires shortbread with a good thick layer of caramel
Buttery shortbread

Lifeglowup · 05/11/2024 21:30

I can’t choose between carrot cake or coffee cake. It’s such a long time since I had a good carrot cake, shops ones are weridly too sweet.

BCBird · 05/11/2024 21:32

I don't understand the Tampax reference

SpottySpotSpots · 05/11/2024 21:33

Lovely sticky ginger cake.
Coffee cake
Lemon drizzle

Pumpkincozynights · 05/11/2024 21:33

Coffee cake
Victoria sponge
or even a catapillar cake.

KohlaParasaurus · 05/11/2024 21:35

Tarte tatin with a dollop of thick cream. Or just give me anything that doesn't have buttercream on it, I'm not fussy.

BobbyBiscuits · 05/11/2024 21:35

Cherry Bakewell tart
Treacle tart
Pecan pie
Pumpkin pie (seasonal)
Really nice slightly greasy freshly cooked crispy donuts, with loads of sugar on them!
Lemon polenta cake
Paris Brest (no idea how to make them at all?!)
Oatmeal and raisin flapjacks
Pistachio cookies, with pistachio cream in the middle
Those lovely little tarts with custard and mixed glazed fruit on top
Greek dessert with custard, cream and pistachio with shredded wheat type thing on the bottom. Sorry forgot the name!

Redcrayons · 05/11/2024 21:36

Eclairs, though anything with fresh cream is not really cake stall friendly.
