If you could have any cake you wanted, what would it be?
Doing a cake stall in a few weeks and looking for inspiration.

RichardOsmansfondueset · 05/11/2024 21:40

Lemon drizzle cake
Victoria Sponge
Flapjacks
Butterfly cakes

BookishType · 05/11/2024 21:41

I don’t like cake but my MIL is a fantastic baker and both her Dundee and coffee and walnut cakes are hugely popular at cake sales.

Womblingmerrily · 05/11/2024 21:42

Coffee and walnut cake with extra walnuts just to balance out you walnut haters

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 05/11/2024 21:43

Lifeglowup · 05/11/2024 21:30

I can’t choose between carrot cake or coffee cake. It’s such a long time since I had a good carrot cake, shops ones are weridly too sweet.

These are my two faves too

BCBird · 05/11/2024 21:43

Not a cake, but apple crumble with sultanas and cinnamon is mu absolute favourite. Failing that I.like carrot cake, battenberg, madeira cake, lemon drizzle- I could go on😃

Vettrianofan · 05/11/2024 21:45

Cherry Bakewell tart
Treacle tart
Pecan pie
Pumpkin pie (seasonal)
Really nice slightly greasy freshly cooked crispy donuts, with loads of sugar on them!
Lemon polenta cake
Paris Brest (no idea how to make them at all?!)
Oatmeal and raisin flapjacks
Pistachio cookies, with pistachio cream in the middle
Those lovely little tarts with custard and mixed glazed fruit on top
Greek dessert with custard, cream and pistachio with shredded wheat type thing on the bottom. Sorry forgot the name!

The Greek dessert sounded amazing so I googled it. Ekmek Kaitifi? Looks so good!

LadyChilli · 05/11/2024 21:47

Millionaires shortbread but with a proper shortbread base, none of your crushed digestives.

Vettrianofan · 05/11/2024 21:48

Notmanyleftnow · 05/11/2024 21:27

Sorry, what??

Tampax and cakes? Never heard that combo before. 🤔

Iwantabrightsunnyday · 05/11/2024 21:49

Creme caramel, very eggy pancakes with white chocolate spread, banana split, Pavlova, Trifle - not a fan of cake for pudding. Still like cake with tea or coffee but not for pudding

Thelnebriati · 05/11/2024 21:50

Lemon drizzle, orange drizzle, coconut and lime, marmalade cake, coffee and walnut.

Bandol · 05/11/2024 21:51

Coffee cake with coffee buttercream sandwiching the cake layers together and some coffee glacé icing on the top, finished off with some swirls of the buttercream.

NewName24 · 05/11/2024 21:51

Coffee cake no walnuts - Yes. This. Why do so many places ruin the best sponge cake by adding nuts ?!?

Millionaire's Shortbread

I had a 'Biscoff Rocky Road' recently - it was heavenly, so that would get my other vote.

Clevs · 05/11/2024 22:00

Chocolate brownie - must have a crust and be gooey in the middle though.

Carrot cake with a decent amount of butter cream.

Lemon drizzle.

Rocky road.

I don't have a big sweet tooth (which is a shame, because I love tasting new stuff!), but there are a few things that immediately make my mouth water at the thought:

Tiramisu. I would fight a professional wrestler for the last slice of tiramisu.
Homemade cinnamon buns; the ones with frosting on top.
Toffee. Specifically cinder toffee, but most toffee in general I like.
Rum and raisin fudge. 😍

I can't do cake, but I will have a bit of Christmas cake with cheese. Has to be really boozy though, absolutely loads of brandy and left to sit in it for ages.

ikeabaskethead · 05/11/2024 22:03

Thank you this is fantastic! Really inspiring me.

Pistachio cake but will settle for carrot cake.

Really dislike chocolate desserts or anything soft or soggy like creme brulee or panacotta etc.

Mainoo72 · 05/11/2024 22:33

Coffee & walnut
