Anyone awake?

Just looking for company. Had a small procedure under general anaesthetic yesterday and I'm so wide awake (though so tired). Slept about an hour since 9pm.

Is this normal? How should I expect to feel tomorrow?

Bodies are weird, they react differently to anaesthetic. I'm often awake at this time, I tend to get up, have a hot drink and then decide whether to try to get more sleep or start the day.

I'm awake! Insomnia after a general anesthetic is common but it sorts itself out. I would imagine you'll feel pretty tired tomorrow but try not to nap during the day if you can. Can you do something quiet that isn't too stimulating now. Maybe an audio book?

I’ve been wide season for an hour. I never sleep well after a general aesthetic or twilight sedation and I’ve had quite a lot, I’ve had four generals in the past six years. No matter how tired I am and how much I want to sleep it’s like my body’s wired after a GA (or any other procedure with anaesthetic). It’s awful because all you want to do is sleep! Sorry to hear it’s happening to you, you have my sympathy. My body generally evades sleep when it needs it most - no idea why!

I find it hard to sleep after a GA too. My body seems to create adrenaline in reaction to it. Even the drugs they give you to help with pain/sleep just make me jittery and wide awake!

I'm awake as have woken up with stomach ache. Think it's just indigestion/wind but can't get comfortable and I'm so tired as had a long drive yesterday.

I'm awake. Heavy cold woke me up half an hour ago. I've had a wander downstairs to get some milk and an Aldi Knock off KitKat. Fell over some shoes in the dark.

Yep! Feeling sad as I made lots of mistakes (NHS) yesterday at work due to peri menopause/too much to do with no staff. Feeling overwhelmed & berating myself. Can’t remember things. So embarrassing. Mind and body are screaming at me to slow down.

It's virtual, of course you can eat, even if you can't in real life.

I’m awake , had open hysterectomy yesterday and a borderline ovarian cyst removed so in hospital too on HDU. Doing good apart from the pain relief itch just had some piriton so hoping I might get some sleep soon 😃

Oh god I am starving , the prospect of cold bendy toast is even appealing right now - hoping I can eat today

I hope those recover well from their operations. My shower was dripping and woke me up. I’m worrying about my teens.

That sounds tough! My two are now teens and I have to admit I'm fearful of this new phase .. what's worrying you?

My teen was out in Edinburgh on Saturday when someone was decapitated at 7.30pm in the evening. One of the students thought it was a Halloween costume and picked the head up. It is horrific. Police were every where once called.
My dd lives there and she is upset and frightened, the police are calling it a ‘road traffic accident’ but it obviously can’t be, as cars have to move so slowly (it’s quicker to walk) due to the volume of people in Edinburgh.

It has made me feel sick with worry about her safety. Two of her friends were followed home the night before, 😞

Awake as back to work today and a lot on my mind

My dp is an old hand with insomnia and goes to bed with headphones in so that he can listen to In our Time by Melvyn Bragg. So he either learns something or goes back to sleep, usually a bit of each lol
