Not sure if it’s a random bug or something I’ve eaten but I’ve got an upset stomach and feeling nauseaus this morning - any tips to get it to clear quickly?

I swear by kefir. Either the yoghurt drinks or a yogurt.

Thank you. Do you think drinking coke or something may help? Hate feeling nauseous!

Ginger, I swear by nibbling on a ginger biscuit, especially ones with the little bits of crystallised ginger in them.

I haven't got one to make it pass quicker, but I can recommend lying down on your left side. It helps ease nausea because your stomach is upright.

Ginger ale!

I saw a video that said smelling lemon helps - get a lemon and slice into the skin a little or did your nails into it to release the oils then sniff.

Have a bowl of porridge / glass of milk, it'll likely make you sick but you'll (probably) feel better after.

The BRAT diet - bananas, rice, apple sauce and tea (without milk)

Thank you. My stomach is making on off gurgling noises! Don’t know if it’s just something I’ve eaten or a stomach bug, hoping not!

Drink small sips of icy water or suck on ice chips. It will stop you from feeling nauseous.

Nice that there are so many good suggestions of natural ways to alleviate an upset stomach/nausea, but just reading, especially some of them, I can imagine them making me want to heave if I had nausea/upset stomach.
I would suggest taking an anti-nausea tablet, IF you can keep both water and the tiny tab down. If it's a bug you've picked up, nothing will stay down in my experience.

Cloud44 · 04/11/2024 11:51

Thank you @gorgeleaper dont suppose you can recommend a anti nausea tablet? I’ve not taken one before.

You could try these ones. It's a mild antihistamine that reduces nausea.

Ginger snap biscuits - always help,

Cloud44 · 04/11/2024 12:11

So far I’ve tried ginger biscuits and ginger ale but not feeling any better, am I just being impatient?!

Peppermint tea is excellent.

Serenitesanta · 04/11/2024 12:13

I’d start with ginger biscuit.
Camomile Tea or Peppermint
Use a heading pad or hot water bottle if you can, even for 15 mins
I recently started back using Andews liver salts for times like these, throw back to childhood.
Another old remedy was Kaolin and Morphine, I can still get it in some pharmacies.
I hope you feel better soon

Cloud44 · 04/11/2024 13:12

Thank you everyone, sorry for my moaning! Just could do without it this week!

Paracetamol wouldn't help.
A bath might.

TheShellBeach · 04/11/2024 15:56

Try these

Cyclizine

Cloud44 · 04/11/2024 15:58

If possible I want it to clear without taking anything, how long does nausea normally last?!

OP posts:
Lighttodark · 04/11/2024 15:58

Fennel seeds in boiling water, steep for 5 min, drink the water!

Cloud44 · 04/11/2024 17:27
