That it's warm for November?

Just that really. In the South East it's still hovering around 14-16 degrees. Supposed to be 18 degrees next Monday.

Usually it's really cold on bonfire night weekend, with a need for hats etc, nothing like that at the moment.

Are we just having an unseasonably warm spell?

Also SE, hasn't been cold at this time of year for a few years. I've got photos of my kids trick or treating with no coats on.

PITA, washing won't dry outside, to warm to out heating on, towels don't dry etc. we have a dryer but most of our stuff isn't tumble dryer proof.

Onlythistime · 03/11/2024 18:39

Seriously? It's the climate crisis, you must surely realize this?

LauraNorda · 03/11/2024 18:40

And yet, if December is wall to wall snow, everyone will be bitching about the weather. Can't win.

Comedycook · 03/11/2024 18:41

I said this yesterday to my sister.... usually bonfire night is freezing but it's very mild. We took the kids trick or treating last week and I felt too warm in my puffer coat

Exactly!

Foy19 · 03/11/2024 18:42

It's definitely mild for November at the moment, and looking at the forecast the sun isn't likely to make an appearance this week. So more overcast murky weather.

Comedycook · 03/11/2024 18:43

Although I hate winter so happy to take the mild temps.

What I do think is we had a pretty meh summer. It's like we don't have proper seasons anymore....just a kind of middle ground of mild weather, overcast days and a bit of drizzle.

ByMerryKoala · 03/11/2024 18:46

Yeah, it is very mild and still.

Twofifty · 03/11/2024 18:47

I hope it doesn't mean that February will be freezing!

ooooohnoooooo · 03/11/2024 18:47

My sweet peas are still flowering. Scary.

Mlanket · 03/11/2024 18:48

It’s warmer than last yr here as I needed hat & warm coat for fireworks.

Isitfridayyetsophie · 03/11/2024 18:49

I’m in London, some of my hydrangeas and cosmos are still in flower, that’s very unusual for my garden! I think it’s quite mild, I want to wear my big fluffy jumpers but it’s just too warm. I seem to remember saying this every winter since about 2018 though? February is usually the only month I find properly cold.

EasternStandard · 03/11/2024 18:49

Yeh it's milder

I'm kind of willing colder running weather rn

Fireworknight · 03/11/2024 18:51

October and early November has been a lot warmer in recent years. Twenty years ago, dressed my dc in hats and gloves for bonfire night. The last couple of years, hardly needed gloves all winter.

Must admit, prefer mild winters to snow and ice.

HelplessSoul · 03/11/2024 18:51

About time the bullshit climate crisis paid dividends.

Warmer weather means less use of heat and lower heating bills - especially for those who have limited incomes or live hand-to-mouth each month.

Climate crisis my arse.

Been happening since day one and will continue long after humanity vanishes.

midgetastic · 03/11/2024 18:52

Climate change for the uk could well lead to a few grey cold and damp summers

It also leads to drought and floods

It is at this stage still possible to avoid the worst problems - problems that would threaten human life on earth but we all need to be acting

This. If it helps, this will be the coldest November we'll ever have from this point on.

ShaunaSadeki · 03/11/2024 18:53

We are in the south west and the seasons seem
to have shifted the last few years. Apart from that ridiculous arctic week in September this year and a week in early December last year or the year before, it is mild until after Christmas then cold until June instead of April or May.

midgetastic · 03/11/2024 18:53

Climate change has always happened- but when it happens fast , like here, it kills almost everything

Try telling the people of Spain that the climate crisis isn't real

Sunnyside4 · 03/11/2024 18:53

Currently 12c, northern side of South West. It'll be interesting to see what this month's heating bill is. Ours is set to 18c, its only been coming on in morning if I turn it up.

Spectre8 · 03/11/2024 18:54

I managed to cut my grass today it was dry enough. I haven't even turned my heating on either. So this.mild weather looks set to continue for few more weeks. Even decemeber predictions aren't that cold.

In the space of 5 minutes today, I had a wasp and then a ladybird land on me. My roses and hydrangea are still flowering and we've only had one frost. It's quite a desperate situation.

devildeepbluesea · 03/11/2024 18:55

I’m no denier of climate change, but the Hallowe’en/ Bonfire Night is always mild IME. I remember going trick or treating about 37 years ago wearing just a leotard!
I was thinking today how raw and biting the wind is actually. I’d say it was colder than usual with the wind chill.

We keep giving the lawn The Final Cut, the having to do another one!
