I couldn't find a thread on today's budget. Anyone watching live?

Yes she’s really dragging out the Tory bashing. We get it - it’s all their fault that this is going to be bad!

I would love to reach the point where politicians just get on with it and stop all the childishness

CheeseDreamsTonight · 30/10/2024 12:45

It's hard to watch and so childish

FuchsAndMöhr · 30/10/2024 12:45

Do we have a bingo card running:

£22 billion black hole
what we’ve inherited
working people
’our’ children

It’s circus day for sure 🤡

WishingForTheImpossible · 30/10/2024 12:43

Criminals not punished?! Somewhat ironic with their early release
Wish she'd get on with it instead of all this blame and posturing

Me too. We're driving (Well dh is) so I'm refreshing BBC and getting nothing.

List would be great!

CheeseDreamsTonight · 30/10/2024 12:47

@NorthernGirlie play it on BBC Sounds

Bruisername · 30/10/2024 12:48

Once it’s finished all the documentation will be put on the HMRC and treasury website to peruse at your leisure!!

daffodilandtulip · 30/10/2024 12:48

Look at all the rich people actually going to work! And also how rude they are - does anyone else act like this in the workplace?

GoldCat255 · 30/10/2024 12:48

I'm all for Tory bashing any day other day, but today it is a massive waste of time.

Spasisters · 30/10/2024 12:49

I’ve never watched the budget before but off work today. This is like some private school common room with all the gufawing 🤯 they really do come from a different planet.

BarkLife · 30/10/2024 12:49

It could never be as bad as Kwasi Kwarteng's 'not perfect' budget, which cost me £300 extra a month in mortgage payments when my 5 year fix came up a month later.

SallyForf · 30/10/2024 12:49

BarkLife I am so sorry, it sucks.

ListenLinda · 30/10/2024 12:49

I wish they would all shut up until she has finished.

SWbungalowlady · 30/10/2024 12:49

I unmuted it when I thought she was making a point and my living room filled with a choir of bleating sheep and a choir of squawking birds.

our politics is so embarrassing. Muted again

I dont watch it for that reason. I dont watch any house of parliament broadcasts for the same reason. They are like children. It’s pathetic.

KoalaCalledKevin · 30/10/2024 12:44

I wish they'd just announce this just as a list of bullet points. The faffing around (at every budget, not just this one) is tedious.

I agree, and clearly and concisely. Can have all of the debate or comment afterwards, it is inaccessible to a lot of people. I know the media will report on it, but often with their own slant.

dnac · 30/10/2024 12:51

Hard to follow as she keeps tripping over her words

BarkLife · 30/10/2024 12:52

@SallyForf thank you Flowers

I'm in favour of paying extra tax/national insurance to support infrastructure, education etc. but I resent £300 per month on interest payments.

TheSquareMile · 30/10/2024 12:52

Am listening to the live broadcast on Radio 4.

Bruisername · 30/10/2024 12:53

New office for value for money? How much is that going to cost?

notthedressiwanted · 30/10/2024 12:54

I'm watching, marvelling how the service dog is sleeping so soundly!

LadyofRutshire · 30/10/2024 12:54

Lots of new jobs for people who are no doubt on big pay. How much is all this costing?

ScreamNow · 30/10/2024 12:54

@FuchsAndMöhr yup... they could give over, it's getting boring now 🥱

Bruisername · 30/10/2024 12:54

Direct access to bank accounts!!! Slippery slope

BellyPork · 30/10/2024 12:55

Covid Corruption Commissioner! They're coming for you Rishi

MichaelandKirk · 30/10/2024 12:56

She sounds so smug. Cut down on fraud on benefits - yawn. They never do this. They said that the Rwanda scheme would have 1000 people diverted to smash the cash only nail bars and the car washes.

There are more than ever...
