I’m a southerner so for me, the vowel in ‘pull’ has a more rounded mouth, the /u/ in Hull is a more open vowel sound with more open mouth. I wish I had a phonetic keyboard!

I’m confused at some of the pronunciations of ‘butch’. For me the vowel is the same as the one in ‘book’ or ‘put’. Any southerners say it the same or am I saying it wrong?

I pronounce hull like cull and dull as well but when I say bull it doesn’t rhyme with pool/cool/fool. The u in bull for me is an uh sound as opposed to the long vowel oo sound.
