Neighbour issues, what would you do?

Hi, my neighbour keeps putting her bins in my driveway. She has a large driveway of her own. I've asked her very politely three times not to. Last time, she told me to f* off to my face. I backed off. What should I do?

Take her bins and put them on the street, every time

Giggly hasn't specified which street they need to be left on.

Just saying

romdowa · 30/10/2024 02:49

I'd put them on Facebook as free to take away.

@Icanflyhigh I think the use of bad language and lack of respect for one’s neighbours

Wow....

I'd be careful of escalation. All out war may sound tempting but living next door to someone like this can be intolerable. I'd probably shove them back

RuffledKestrel · 30/10/2024 08:41

Put them directly in front of her door so she has to move them every time she leaves.

However if the council do collect abandoned bins I'd ask them to collect them next time. She clearly doesn't want it if she keeps putting it on your driveway

Doggymummar · 30/10/2024 08:44

What's the damage it is doing, can you not park or walk past them? Not sure I understand the issue.

Eh? The neighbour is clogging up OPs driveway with 2x the amount of regular bins and having a nice clear driveway with no rubbish bins on ... I think not! She's a CF neighbour!
OP our council actually wrote to us when we had an extra bin and they took it away ... I'd honestly do that - tell
The neighbour what you're doing if she doesn't stop - then do it

TheNoonBell · 30/10/2024 09:07

Throw the bins back onto her property.

hottytot · 30/10/2024 10:43

she's bang out of order

Sunnyside4 · 30/10/2024 10:54

I'd message tge Council, tell them you've ended up with two many bins for your property and ask if they can take away next time they're dropping off new bins.

mbosnz · 30/10/2024 11:52

As a property owner, and as a tenant, my attitude towards both my property and my neighbours has always been the same, to be respectful, and do as I would be done by.

I think that to make assumptions as to a neighbour's property status as a result of their behaviour is rather mind bogglingly ignorant, to be honest. Never quite heard the like! You might as well make such assumptions as to their voting preferences based on their behaviour. . .

giggly · 30/10/2024 13:43

@Duckingella That is a fair point, I personally couldn’t be arsed moving them too far.
i live in a lovely wee street where I look for my bins when I come home from work to see that my neighbours have brought them in for me.

MissMoneyFairy · 30/10/2024 13:47

Tell the council they are not yours are abandoned and need removing

Doglady1764 · 30/10/2024 13:50

HecatesBees · 29/10/2024 22:46

Take her bins away, and hide them..... many miles away

I really want you to do this 🥲

Yes, this. Neighbour disputes, particularly when the other party is so clearly up for a fight, are just grim.

It might sound OTT but if you can spare the money for fence, gate and/or cctv, that should work.

She sounds awful.

Move hers and tip it over lol. Karma is sweet

WHAT are you actually serious? We rented for some years and are now homeowners and we are still the same people. Our bin etiquette has not changed.

She’ll probably just nick the OPs!

Super glue the lids on.

She's so entitled. I think this one is the best solution really if you can afford it. Otherwise, she'll just carry on doing it.

Wow! What an assumption. I can have a foul tongue when I want to and I definitely own my house.

I rent my home. Your post is very offensive.
Talk about stereotyping and stigmatising. 😕

What ever you do, don't put an airbag in one of their bins.

Urgh she sounds delightful! Feel sorry for you living next door to that!
