SMARTPHONE – Leave it alone, it does it with magic.
SUNDIAL – Move one house to the right.
COOKER – You’ll need a masters in Electronic Engineering, or a hammer.
CAR CLOCK – not worth it, wait six months

Cats still haven't go the memo. They're telling me it's after 4 pm, which is the earliest time I feed them in the afternoon (they have a constant supply of dry food but also get wet food twice a day).

ForPearlViper · 27/10/2024 15:36

There's a group of guys at a local mosque who go around and change the time on clocks, etc, for people. Sadly, I don't think they'll come if you are just inept, I think this is only for elderly people or those with conditions that mean they can't do it themselves.

Personally, I have reduced the workload by never setting the clock on my oven, etc, in the first place.

Oooh, no. I disagree. February is the worst month. At least in November you still get warmish sunny days. February is cold and bleak and never properly gets daylight.

(sorry for the thread hijack OP)

Disagree with you and @SerafinasGoose ! January is the worst. Nothing to look forward to. At least in February the days are getting longer and you see the early spring flowers starting to bloom!

Fourcandleforkhandle · 27/10/2024 18:43

@MzHz same here first time it happened. Now I wanted someone to watch it move with me but all my Children were asleep. I put the torch light on my Phone and had to watch it and get creeped out all on my own 😄

I started switching the oven and microwave off at the mains. Not sure it saves much electricity but really enjoy not bothering about resetting the clocks.

wastingtimeonhere · 27/10/2024 19:01

Our dog didn't realise the clocks changed, still wanted walks at 'old' time..and as for dinner, she clearly believes we are starving her! 😂

purplebeansprouts · 27/10/2024 19:04

Hope you all tested your fire alarms

Pixiedust1234 · 27/10/2024 19:06

AutumnLeaves24 · 27/10/2024 09:52

@Pixiedust1234

are you retired?

I used to hate coming home from work to a freezing house, motivating factor in getting the CH sorted when I moved in!!

As for missing STBEx think of all the petty annoying things you don't miss! I bet they outweigh this one inconvenience.

if it's amiable invite him around for Sunday Roast then give him a list of jobs 😂😂

No, disabled but he did permanent nights so I couldn't have heating on during the day. I just became normalised to being cold and using blankets and gloves. I put the heating on when the children came home/he woke up.

Due to a family get together today my watch is now right Grin. I shall use the tip above about switching the microwave off at noon tomorrow and I shall ignore the kitchen clock until I move house.

As for the worst month - it's January. Christmas is over, all the twinkling lights are down, it takes forever until it's payday so everyone is grumpier, the snowdrops and crocuses refuse to say hello, and it's permanently dark and cold.

@purplebeansprouts - FIRE/CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM - test them

Oh heck - yes - sorry - I forgot to put that - rather more important than 'an amusing post' - thank you.

Not a problem just using the opportunity of your amusing post to spread the word. Hope you don't mind.

DanFmDorking · 27/10/2024 19:30

@purplebeansprouts - Heavens - don't mind at all - very grateful

If you have an oven like mine, you have to wait until it’s 12 (day or night) and turn it off at the mains, and switch it back on. That way it will be right again. And yes, I’ve read the instructions, and no, they don’t make sense!

I don’t mean to brag…. But I changed my mums clock on her oven AND microwave to the correct time without having read the manual or having done it before! And I changed my own without issue.

now the car radio can fuck right off…

ErrolTheDragon · 28/10/2024 18:14

I've now changed the timezone on both our cars....I anticipate this will massively confuse DH Grin

Patienceinshortsupply · 28/10/2024 18:22

I'm chuffed to bits, my car sorted itself out. Unlike the clocking in machine at work that nearly ended up with a hammer through it at 8am this morning.....

pollymere · 28/10/2024 19:04

I've had cookers for nearly twenty years where all you do is press the clock button and turn the dial back or forward. Why do people feel it's complicated?

Pliudev · 28/10/2024 19:11

I wish someone would tell my puppy. Being woken by my hair being chewed at 7am (2 days) is unpleasant. But seriously, what is the point?

GandDiva · 28/10/2024 19:40

I'm a cleaner/carer and have changed 3 ovens, 2 alarm clocks and a radio today at work as well as all my own plus car yesterday. I have at least 6 more houses worth to do this week plus my mum's and some have so many electronics! They all just wait for the day I'm due now as they know I'll just do yh but on the plus side, I don't need instructions anymore 🤣

MirandaJH · 28/10/2024 19:53

+baby parents: Rejoice that you get an extra hour in bed, only to discover at 5am that your baby didn’t get the memo

Oldraver · 28/10/2024 19:59

Just seen this. I put dinner on an hour early as have forgot to change the oven

I then spent the next hour trying to change the fucker, lost the manual so looked online. No instructions on how to change it

Ended up on YouTube but to no avail. Had a brainwave and turned off at the mains as thought I could set it that way

The bloody thing 'saves' the time for 15 hours

Because not all cookers have a clock button or dial to turn.

tommyhoundmum · 29/10/2024 08:31

The foxes I feed at 6am must have got tired of waiting as no sign of them since Saturday morning.

wastingtimeonhere · 29/10/2024 20:17

< preens>
I've reset my car clock..
