SMARTPHONE – Leave it alone, it does it with magic.
SUNDIAL – Move one house to the right.
COOKER – You’ll need a masters in Electronic Engineering, or a hammer.
CAR CLOCK – not worth it, wait six months

FIRE/CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM - test them

brightpompoms · 27/10/2024 04:50

So if it's 4:50 on the clock does it feel like 5:50? Or 3:50?

What does it feel like? Should be 550

brightpompoms · 27/10/2024 05:05

Hahah thanks I know I sound dull here! I'm wide awake but didn't want to get up if it's actually the middle of the night.

Sillyseason · 27/10/2024 05:06

Heating set to come on at 6am, partner said he’d sorted it for the clock change - it’s just kicked in… 5am here, so not sure what sorting out he did 😂

brightpompoms · 27/10/2024 05:12

@Sillyseason where do you live that you have heating on?

Neilsfavouritechilli · 27/10/2024 05:17

Ah bollocks, I was feeling all smug that I'd sorted the clocks out last night but the frigging heating has just kicked in so I'm going to need to google the manual for the control panel.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 27/10/2024 05:17

My DD (22m) decided to wake at what was 5am yesterday despite me keeping her up til 8 yesterday to try and stave it off. Cbeebies doesn't start for 40m so we are laying on sofa commiserating. DH will take over in an hour or so and I can go back to bed. 😫

Any tips?!!!

WillowTit · 27/10/2024 05:19

woken up by ddog!
oh no its not even 5 when she woke me!

DaveWatts · 27/10/2024 05:27

OP that really made me laugh, thank you!

Unfortunately Dd's body clock and the groclock still on old time so we're up here.

@GingerLiberalFeminist feeling your pain on the lack of cbeebies! Half an hour to go!

FrowntonAbbey · 27/10/2024 05:29

Gosh, OP, I have never seen this before! How clever! You must feel very proud to post this.

If you have an oven like mine, you have to wait until it’s 12 (day or night) and turn it off at the mains, and switch it back on. That way it will be right again. And yes, I’ve read the instructions, and no, they don’t make sense!

This is actually genius.

My dd had a very rigid routine as that is what she needed. She couldn’t cope with an immediate change like this. if your dd is the same, I would change to GMT in 10 min increments over the next 6/7 days.

I woke up at 1.50 old time and saw the clock go from 1.59am to 1.00am. I had to ask the ipad what time it was to check if we were BST or GMT. Of course it eas BST. I loathe the clocks changing as I have advanced sleep issues. I did manage to get back to sleep thank goodness.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/10/2024 05:42

And to add.

WHEN THE CLOCKS CHANGE - Scream silently so as not to wake the household up because you hate GMT.

Fourcandleforkhandle · 27/10/2024 01:36

@AutumnCrow apparently happening at 2am. Just waiting for my radio Wall clock to set to new time ( actually quiet creepy when the hands move automatically and make a whirring noise especially in a dark room)

You've just reminded me that my grandad used to do this ❤️

Brahumbug · 27/10/2024 05:45

No no OP, GMT is only for 5 months not six!😁. I love the fact that my sundial will be right for 5 months, it is very conservative and won't have any of this Daylight Saving Time nonsense in summer.

SapphireSeptember · 27/10/2024 05:53

Just been woken up by my baby making funny noises, and haven't had much sleep. Can't convince him it's too early for breakfast! 😭

Total genius move. I'm so doing this next time around.

I've only just realised the nicotine patches are tripping me out not the clock change. Or stonehenge 😳

Glad to hear that. I felt a bit trippy myself reading your post 😂Sanity now restored.

You bet me to it!! This is my favourite thing about clock changing time of year. (Helps me deal with how it disturbs my already rubbish sleep.) Love the surprise over others suddenly realising - it's one of those "how did I not realise that!" moments.

Hazeby · 27/10/2024 06:05

You forgot something important.

HAVE THE FOLLOWING CONVERSATION WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE

“The clocks change this weekend”

”Ooo, we get an extra hour in bed”

”Is it forward or back, I can never remember”

”Isn’t it spring forward, fall back?”

”It’s not fall, it’s autumn”

CalicoPusscat · 27/10/2024 06:10

I'd love you in real life! Right, need to take the patches off and pretend to be normal. That was really confusing.

muddyford · 27/10/2024 06:15

I havent changed the car clock from GMT since I bought it five years ago.

It's getting light here already (southwest). I hate the dark mornings and light evenings are no good for anything in our climate.

Slawit · 27/10/2024 06:15

Any advise on how to tell the dog he has to wait another hour for breakfast?

Only in the spring because we hate BST!
