I am in Adelaide and compared to other places in Australia I'm not that keen because everything is so far away. I have just travelled from Perth and it was better because everything was closer and here I wanted to do an open top bus tour and they don't do things like that here and the guided walking tour has stopped running so you have to have a map and a list of buildings and do it yourself by reading the information against each building on the leaflet which I do not want to do and I really wish I'd stayed in Perth

Are you living there? Or just vacation?

I visited and found it boring, tbh

EBearhug · 24/10/2024 01:33

I liked Adelaide. The Botanic Gardens.

IKEAJesus · 24/10/2024 01:47

So go somewhere else if you don’t like it

Tradersinsnow · 24/10/2024 02:04

I love Adelaide! There are tours up to Hahndorf which are nice. Botanic gardens, museum and art gallery. Central market if you like food.

Adelaide is different from Perth - I liked the calmer vibe of the place.

Agree with Tradersinsnow - the Central market is fun - great place for lunch.

Sign up for a day trip out to the McClaren vale wineries. Take an overnight to Kangaroo island. There's a great seafront too.

Hire a car and visit to Barossa valley.

If all else fails - move on. Australia is a might big place, get out there.

Ps I can tell you where the best laundrette in Australia is and it's in Adelaide!

Try the Roche Foundation. Near the Botanic Gardens. Also, there's an Aussies and NZ thread on MN.

Take the tram down to Glenelg.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 24/10/2024 05:01

What was it about Adelaide that appealed to you when you decided to travel there?

Flute56 · 24/10/2024 05:16

I am actually enjoying

I feel much better now it is warmer and I have a trip booked to the Adelaide Hills and I'm now seeing bits of the town which I didn't receive before which is quite nice

Lots of really good restaurants in Adelaide, with the nearby wine regions it’s quite a foodie place.

MargaretRiver · 24/10/2024 06:13

Go to the zoo and see the Pandas!
Walk along the river to get there, then back through the Botanic gardens

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 24/10/2024 07:21

I think you have described the holiday issue. It is so far away from the other tourism places that it tends to have more people just living there than tourist stuff. I lived there for a while, so wasn't an issue for me.

But go th Hahndorf, Glenelg, Kangaroo Island, wineries tour. Find somewhere to feed kangaroos, it was Cleela d wildlife park when I was there, but their website looks down now, so not sure if it is still up and running.

I think that might be why they don't have the open bus tour that most other towns and cities have

Ive been criticised by someone because im not spending every minute of every day touring the city im on holiday in. If after breakfast i go back to the room for an hour im told that is wasting valuable time that i could spend exoring the area. Im here to relax as well. I do go out but im told oh i could neverjust sit in the hotel o go out and stay out unt 11pm.

Aren't you the same poster who was recently complaining about Qantas and your hotel in Australia. Either you are not cut out for travel or you are trying keep the whinging pom stereotype alive and well.

StartupRepair · 25/10/2024 07:29

Go down to the Fleurieu folk festival tomorrow.

Readyforseptember · 25/10/2024 07:33

You don't need an open bus tour for a city that takes 20 mins max to walk around! Take the free tram around the city if you can't cope with walking.

I was with a friend in Perth and she kept saying to me are you ok with walking upstairs or are you able to walk to the shop or are you able to walk to the restaurant I got so fed up with her saying that to me in the end I said I look I'm not disabled I can walk and then she said to me some people can't walk upstairs or anything and I said well I can

I did a day trip to the Adelaide Hills today we stopped at Mount Lofty but only got 10 minutes before we had to get back on the coach and then we stopped off at a German grocery store for 15 minutes and then went to the and I town for our free TN cake and a look around before one and a half hours later we had to get back on the bus and that was the end of the tour I don't think it was worth it for what I paid you really need longer and it was too short you could hardly do anything and I didn't really feel as though I'd got the most out of it and thought it was a waste of money
