Struggling to think of an actor I would cast rather than the dark haired chap that is playing him in Rivals, but maybe that's the point - he is sooo perfect his likeness doesn't exist

James Norton but tbh, having watched, I don’t think he could have done the job as well as AH. I think AH was outstanding as RCB.
Personally I thought the casting of all characters was brilliant. Taggie was a bit far away from the original character but I think they had to do that as it would have been a bit pervy and predatory otherwise, with the Taggie in the book so naïve and young and waif like.

He is Irish. And I think he’s the most fanciable guy in it by a mile!

I haven’t read the books or watched the current show, but Toby Stephens also came to mind for me!

I had a clear image of Rupert in my head when I read the books as a teen, but I cant think of any one quite like who I pictured.

Someone on another thread posted a photo of Jaws from James Bond and now I can’t unsee it! He’s turning my stomach especially given how letcherous he is.

I think Chris Hemsworth could have pulled it off. He did a good job playing James Hunt the blonde British racing driver.
But maybe far too big a star for this show??
Even though I don’t think Alex Hassell is right physically , I’m really loving his performance as RCB (I’m up to episode 2).

I thought Marcus Gilbert who played RCB in Riders was spot on and I can't see the character as anyone else now! I found Alex H really jarring at first but thankfully got distracted by how brilliant Danny Dyer was as Freddie.

Jack is lovely, never seen him do a non-working class role. It would've been interesting to see him pull off the posh, sneering accent.

I love Danny Dyer in that role!

Oddly enough, I think a young Rik Mayall was good looking/sexy enough and he was a competent actor, but maybe too slight and too associated with comedy.
