Flu jab - after effects

Cloud44 · 21/10/2024 09:06

I had the flu jab middle of last week, had a bit of an achy arm/ felt a bit achy and tired the next day then I’ve been fine over the weekend. Woke up today feeling nauseous, tired, headache.. could it be from the flu jab 5/6 days later? I think the same happened to me last year too. Has anyone else felt a bit off a few days later this year?

I have had the odd year where I've felt a bit feverish and miserable in the 24 hours after, but I wouldn't have thought it was the jab 5-6 days later? Look up the patient info leaflet and it'll say (I'm thinking of the MMR that can cause side effects for weeks so it's not like it's impossible for a vaccine to do that, I'm just not sure I've ever heard it re flu). There's loads around ATM though, I'd say you've just caught something.

Unlikely.

Just a bit strange that I felt similar last year a few days later.

Any tips for the nauseous feeling? Feeling pretty rubbish!

I had mine last week too, and yesterday afternoon and evening I did feel very peculiar, as though I was about to come down with something. Fine today though, so I hope you soon feel better.

Thank you @TentEntWenTyfOur , do you mind me asking did you feel nauseous yesterday? What day last week did you have yours?

Wednesday I think and no, I didn't feel nauseous yesterday.

Maybe look up online for side-effects, and if you are concerned, contact the place you had the jab and see what they say?

I guess it could just be a random bug and not related, hoping it passes soon!

Ginger tea, peppermint tea or even nicer, ginger biscuits 😁 hope you feel better

Cloud44 · 21/10/2024 14:06

I’ve had a peppermint tea and some ginger biscuits but it’s not clearing yet ☹️

Any other tips? Feeling really achy, I wonder if it’s a bug not the jab.

Not really much for it other than rest, fluids and paracetamol.

Cloud44 · 21/10/2024 18:54

I’ve got a busy week at work could do without it! Wish I knew if it was a bug or the jab.

I've had side effects some years, but none at all this year.

Doesn't really make a difference in truth, just treat the symptoms.

Cloud44 · 21/10/2024 19:19

You are right @BarbaraHoward , I’m not very good at being under the weather!

There may be a slight man flu vibe from your posts alright. Grin

Cloud44 · 21/10/2024 19:31

@BarbaraHoward lol I just always seem to catch something at the wrong time, like I’ve got a busy week at work this week just feel like I haven’t got time to be feeling like this! Then I put pressure on myself to get better asap

When I had my jab, I was told that other than an achey arm, it can’t make you unwell as it’s not a live vaccine.
Sounds like you have a bug. I hope you feel better soon

AutumnLeaves24 · 21/10/2024 21:54

It says thst nausea can be a side effect. Hopefully that's all
it is & you'll feel ok soon!!

valueyourself · 21/10/2024 22:17

I had the Covid and flu together last week and the next day in bed with full on shivers and general grimness... next day woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed ...

Not sure which it was - but glad I had them as lost both parents to Covid .

Cloud44 · 22/10/2024 07:50

I’m still feeling pretty ropey but it’s a week today since I had the flu jab so I’m wondering if it’s just a random bug, but the same thing did happen to me last year!

I felt so awful after the last flu jab I had, I won't have them again. I felt ill for days though not as long as you. I'm the same with the covid jab. Get well soon!

SantaToSSD · 11/11/2024 13:08

Realise this is an oldish post, but I was looking for reassurance. I had the flu jab last week. I was already feeling a bit anxious about it as I had some weird back and leg aches but had the jab anyway. I've never had a problem with the flu jab before, beyond an achey arm for a couple of days. Sure enough, I had the achey arm again, and my back and leg aches subsided, but I've just wasted the entire weekend, and Friday as well, feeling awful: all over body aches and pin prick pains, tired, now a weird one sided headache.

I have googled. Side effects from the flu jab can go on for a week, but it is 6 days since I had the jab and I am beginning to wonder if I will ever feel well again. Has anyone felt the same?
