What do you call this and where are you from?

Love a thread about regional differences!

SnakesAndArrows · 20/10/2024 18:40

Barmcake (Manchester) and then breadcake (Leeds). Never quite manage to call them teacakes because my Manc genes insist teacakes have currants.

Lentilweaver · 20/10/2024 18:40

Pav. Indian.

NetballHoop · 20/10/2024 18:41

Barmcake, I’ve answered this question on here a million times before but I get so irate with people calling it anything but a barn I’ll answer it a million more times! 😂

If the top was hard it would be a cob, so soft cob would be acceptable. Otherwise a bap. I'd accept bun if it contained a burger. West Midlands

LovelyLittleBitofSquirrel · 20/10/2024 18:44

Do any of these ring true?

Bread cake

Tarkan · 20/10/2024 18:47

Roll. Scotland (originally from the west and now in the east, only heard people use roll in both places).

I've never heard anyone say morning roll here although the shops sometimes say it on the labels.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 20/10/2024 18:47

Bread bun - North Yorkshire

PippyPip · 20/10/2024 18:49

A morning roll is floury on top and a bit crispier. Sooo good for a roll and bacon!

Lovelynames123 · 20/10/2024 18:51

Bun, Newcastle

User100000000000 · 20/10/2024 18:54
