I've just finished my first cuppa of the day, sat with dd2 while she had breakfast. Girl kitten woke me up for breakfast at 6:30 ish but I ignored her until 7:30 🙈. They're now fed & galloping about upstairs while dd2 chats away to them about how noisy they're being 🤣

Dd1's up too. Not happy about it, but she's up.

The girls are off to the open day at dd1's college, with one of dd2's friends, so the younger girls can start looking at their A Level options.

I'm going to have a steady start to the day, some washing, washing up...normal housey stuff, then get a shower since I came straight in to bed last night & am out again this evening at a friend's house for a moan & rant (they know that's what I want).

My friend's cooking so I'll be having whatever she makes (she makes the best chips!). Not a clue what tea will be here - probably pasta knowing the girls 🤣 .

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , I’m just enjoying a coffee after taking the dog out for an hour’s walk. It’s stopped raining here and it’s chilly but it was lovely to be out in the fresh air. Definitely welly boots weather!
I don’t have anything special planned at all for the weekend, I lead a very quiet life which doesn’t bother me at all 😊 I will try to finish an embroidery I started months ago before I pick another out of my rather large stash 🫣
Salmon teriyaki and rice for dinner so that’s sorted!
Have a lovely weekend 🌻

Chelsea26 · 19/10/2024 09:04

Morning! I’m having a second hazelnut coffee and trying to get going!

I got up earlier than I wanted to give DP a lift to pick up his mum’s car as it’s pouring down here, made even worse by DS1’s football training being cancelled so I could definitely still be in bed!!

I have friends coming over for lunch which I forgot about so I need to go to the supermarket - I think I’m going to do roasted butternut squash and tomato soup with naice bread. It’s soup season after all!

Later we have Tuscan Chicken Orzo for dinner which is a favourite with all the kids so that’s always nice.

Gonnaenodothat · 19/10/2024 09:06

I'm nursing my second coffee while 2 out of my 4 DC play, they are building towers with wooden blocks but my almost one year old keeps knocking down his sisters creations and I can see it ending in tears. We will have a lazy morning then go out for lunch and to the local Lego club as the weather is rubbish. I hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 19/10/2024 09:09

I am eating breakfast, looking out at the rain, and hoping the person doing the pitch inspection on Hackney Marsh pitches right now decides the ground is too wet. Otherwise I will spend the morning in the rain watching my son and his friends get increasingly soaked and muddy.

mechanicalpencil · 19/10/2024 09:09

Good morning @lucysmam and the usual Saturday gang
I have just finished gigantic pot of tea in bed.
Thinking about Greek yogurt with grapes, nuts and seeds…
Washing already on and did weekly Saturday cleaning last night as I have an all-day long tutorial today for my course..
Shame as the weather forecast for today is sunshine.

Happy Saturday everyone ! 🍁✨

frozendaisy · 19/10/2024 09:12

Morning all,
Just about to put coffee on, youngster has a bad back so ducked out of football, unheard of, so that stalled the early start, not that his dad is complaining to be fair.

X2 loads of laundry (school shirts & school PE every thing else so fairly straightforward)

I have to mend almost every chest of drawers in the building, runners broke, missing knobs, might as well grab the tools and do a sweep!

Them collect an additional teenager, do a maths mock paper, easy oven chip dinner, I might get time to read the paper. And we have to get some inner tubes for eldest's bike.

So lots of one off jobs today. Be nice when they are done.

lucysmam · 19/10/2024 09:16

@Chelsea26 tuscan chicken orzo sounds tasty, what's the recipe please?

We have my 8 year old nephew for the weekend so we are taking him and our two sons to a soft play centre and swimming to try and tire them out. Later on we will have burgers/hot dogs for dinner and watch Strictly.

MoneyAndPercentages · 19/10/2024 09:20

Morning all!

I couldn't sleep after 4am so got up and ruthlessly cleaned the house from top to bottom. Now snuggled on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate and bowl of fruit, doing the Sudoku in an actual (albeit old) physical newspaper, and feeling extremely smug and glad I have no more chores to do this weekend 😂

DS is at a sleepover with cousins, so I'll pick him up around 11. I want to go for a mooch around a shopping centre somewhere, maybe buy a new cardigan. Pick up a pret sandwich for lunch 😋 I'm sure wherever we go we'll end up in a soft play afterwards!

Then I'm thinking homemade pizzas for dinner, because my kitchen cannot stay sparkling for more than 12 hours!

Sourisblanche · 19/10/2024 09:21

Morning! I’m another one waiting to see if football training is cancelled! 😅

I was thinking of going for a cycle but I don’t want my new bike to get muddy because then I’ll have to clean it.

Making some iced buns this afternoon with dd and trying a cheeseburger pasta dish that I’ve seen online. Dh doesn’t like pasta so he will have a little moan but the dc will hopefully enjoy it.

Peridot1 · 19/10/2024 09:23

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Been up a while as usual. Had a few cups of tea and a big bowl of porridge with blueberries, seeds, cottage cheese and a drizzle of maple syrup. Was yum. Especially after 3 days of a liquid diet due to a tooth extraction on Wednesday.

Raining here which is a pain as I need to take the dog to the vet. She is 14 and a quarter and exhibiting signs of dementia. Hoping they can give her something to calm her down as she is whining almost constantly. It’s not easy to get her into the car so DS is coming too to help.

Then I need to sweep out the floor in our living room as we are having carpet laid on Monday and it’s full of dust and bits of rubble from the fireplace being removed.

Then I’m having a bit of a cleaning session. Upstairs bathrooms today I think. I need to start a routine. Usual washing and sorting too.

Hoping for an hour with my book this afternoon.

Salmon, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach for dinner - on soft foods now for a few days.

Chelsea26 · 19/10/2024 09:32

@lucysmam It’s really good! And easy and quick and one pot - the perfect recipe!!

I’m not a measurer but for the 6 of us I use (about)

4/5 Chicken breasts (depending on size) chopped
2 tbsp oil from sun dried tomatoes jar
3 Garlic cloves, Peeled and crushed
7/8 Sun-dried tomatoes (in oil), Drained and chopped
1 tsp Oregano
1 tbsp Paprika
500g Orzo
Chicken stock
light cream cheese - a whole tub
Parmesan , Grated - a big handful (extra to serve)
Pack of Spinach

Heat the oil in a large sauce pan and add the chicken pieces. Cook for 5 minutes stirring until coloured.

Add the garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, oregano and paprika. Stir for 3-5 minutes until the garlic is softened.

Add the orzo, stock, and some pepper.
Stir then turn the heat down, cover and cook for 10 mins or u til the orzo is cooked.

Stir in the spinach and cream cheese until the spinach is wilted and the cream cheese is heated through. Stir in the parmesan and serve.

So good - we have garlic bread with it.

lucysmam · 19/10/2024 09:35

@Chelsea26 thanks very much, I think I have everything but the tomatoes and cream cheese so will give it a go this week 😊

I'm having a lazy day. Keep nipping downstairs to turn around the laundry. One in the wash and one in the dryer right now and two loads down so far...and then returning to bed with a coffee.

About to make a round of bacon sandwiches for the house and then a quick house tidy. I need to do food shopping, which I loathe, and then visit my mum with DH and the kids.

We are planning to have a games night tonight and a movie with popcorn.

Kim82 · 19/10/2024 09:38

Good morning everyone. Quiet morning for me as usual. Dh and dd20 are at work, dd10 had a sleepover at my sister’s last night so there’s just me and dd17 at home and she’s still asleep and will be for a long time yet!

I had a nice lie in until 8.30am and all I’ve done since then is put a load of washing on and sit on the couch with a cup of tea with one of the cats purring next to me.

The Tesco shop is due to arrive between 10-11am so I’ll put that away, jump in the shower and then make a start on my disgusting house that I couldn’t be bothered cleaning yesterday (I am regretting that decision today!).

Dd10 is due home around 11am ish and if I have time this afternoon I’m taking her into town to do some shopping as I went through her wardrobe this week and she has grown out of all of her jeans/joggers/leggings so they need replacing. I can always go on Monday though if we don’t have time today, it just depends on how long the housework takes.

We’re having an easy tea of hotdogs and fries tonight then I’ll either spend the evening reading or I’ll find a film to watch before bed.

Thislittlekitten · 19/10/2024 09:42

Morning all.

Im sitting on my balcony at the hotel enjoying the last bits of sun before we go home today.

Been a fantastic holiday. Have plans to have a mooch about and lunch before we go.

Love it here but look forward to going home and seeing the pets.

onlyhereforthechristmaschat · 19/10/2024 09:49

Good morning everyone, I’m just getting ready to head out for the food shopping then I’ll make rolls and sausage for me and DH.

A quick tidy up afterwards and get some Halloween decorations out.

We got our bathroom done this week so we’re off out this afternoon to look for some accessories.

DH has also suggested a walk along the canal and a hot chocolate and cake stop.

We’ll have roast chicken for dinner. We’re in between tv programmes just now and nothing is really taking my fancy at all. I might stick my audiobook book on (currently enjoying Mr Mercedes by Stephen King) and potter about.

I’ve got some work to do that I’ve been putting off for a while and I’m starting to feel a bit anxious about it so might do an hour of that tonight as well.

That recipe sounds lovely @Chelsea26 I might give it a go this week.

hanali · 19/10/2024 09:51

Had scrambled eggs and beans on toast for breakfast. Just arrived at the away day for my son's Saturday morning football. There is an Ikea just up the road from the football pitches so might pop in.....I won't be popular with my boy though 😆

Chelsea26 · 19/10/2024 09:53

@lucysmam & @onlyhereforthechristmaschat - I hope you do make it and enjoy it! It’s almost a weekly meal in our house. So nice when you find something everyone really likes.

Also @onlyhereforthechristmaschat I started watching the Rings of Power yesterday - don’t know if it’s your cup of tea but I’m really enjoying it…

RabbitsRock · 19/10/2024 10:10

@Chelsea26 how much chicken stock do you need?

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 19/10/2024 10:20

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Lots of busy people around! I have had two coffees and a slice of toast. I stripped the bed and put one load in the machine to wash while I shopped at Aldi. Came home and emptied the washing machine and put in whites. Then I headed for the retail park to buy new toys for my grandsons: Lego, jigsaw and a wooden train set. I haven't bought toys for my house for ages so I don't mind. The whites are still bubbling away and I'm having a cuppa. Dinner will be a pork chop with mash and creamed leek. Enjoy your day all

RabbitsRock · 19/10/2024 10:31

Morning @lucysmam & the Saturday gang - sorry for those with rain as it’s beautiful here in Cornwall ☀️😎☀️About to make a bacon roll for brekkie then a cottage pie for tea which DH & I will have with peas & gravy. I was up very early to drop DD15 at the station. She’s seeing her GF today & won’t be back til late. I’ll probably go for a walk this afternoon & maybe pop in to see my folks. Dishwasher is on & there’s another load waiting to go in. No laundry for a change! The Voice tonight & maybe Greys Anatomy. Have a great day everyone.

weegiemum · 19/10/2024 10:39

I'm not long up, luckily I have a dog who likes a lie in as he didn't really start making a noise until 9:45.

Dh is working away this weekend, dd2 has an engagement party tonight so I'm all geared up to spend the day looking at a multitude of outfits! Ds has rescued a friend who lost his accommodation suddenly yesterday, so friend is on our sofa right now, but they have an old flat reunion this afternoon/evening so won't be in the way much.

Looking round my mess of a kitchen that I couldn't be arsed cleaning up last night and wishing I had done it!

Gardendiary · 19/10/2024 10:48

Good morning all, I had a lie in this morning which is unusual for me. Just about to have breakfast put some washing on and get in the bath. Then it’s off to the garden centre with dd to pick up some tulip bulbs for my dad’s birthday, will probably go to the cafe too and walk round a little trail they have. I’m cooking roast pork tonight and ds girlfriend will come over. May carry on watching Rivals and some F1 or watch something with ds and girlfriend.

Whattheduck · 19/10/2024 11:15
