Why are you awake?

It's nearly 4 and I'm wide awake. I have slept a bit but awake now.
I have a professional exam tomorrow afternoon so am shitting myself and worrying about failing it. I hate exams.
So why are you awake?

I'm getting married on Saturday and feeling really anxious. It's tuned out bigger than I wanted and I'm quite shy and actually dreading it. I'm looking forward to the marriage bit, just not the wedding. Is that awful?

Stressedgiraffe · 18/10/2024 04:10

@garlictwist not at all. It's a really good thing you are excited about the marriage bit. People tend to forget about the after bit at weddings. Are you having a honeymoon?

I'm going through a separation with my husband and worrying if I'm doing the right thing

Good luck @Stressedgiraffe and @garlictwist hope the wedding goes well, try to forget about everyone else and enjoy your day.

I'm awake because toddler dd has a fever, she just wants to hold me. 6m pregnant me is very uncomfortable and now hot because she is so hot while DH snores away next to us.

SweetPeaPods · 18/10/2024 04:18

@Brunolarge sending hugs.

My one year old has a bug and has been throwing up.
Second week of nursery, second bug

Sympathies to those struggling to sleep.

I have a stuffy nose from a cold and and I'm worrying about teen DD who is going through a really tough time at the moment and is out of school. Trying put things in place for her but it's such a battle.

Waiting for a pizza delivery 🍕….it can’t wait until morning…

Luluem · 18/10/2024 04:25

Sorry about the exam OP - I had horrific nerves with my ones, would affect eating/sleeping, everything. Hopefully done soon. I am awake as I have a 5w old 😴

itsgettingweird · 18/10/2024 04:25

My son's a swimmer. We get up at 4 as he trains at 5am!

Good luck for exam. I hate nights where you can't sleep because your head is full of stuff.

And best of luck for wedding.

@Nohugspleaseandthankyou I hear you. It's relentless

Shits

NigelHarmansNewWife · 18/10/2024 04:27

We're having the bathroom redone and the tiler has really badly fucked up tiling around a window. It's going to have to be redone or fixed by someone else. Neither of us wants him back in the house. We've had weeks of mess and disruption and this muppet...well, I could probably have done better myself and I've never tiled before.

SweetPeaPods · 18/10/2024 04:27

@itsgettingweird amazing commitment! Maybe my Sat mornings on the side of a cold wet football pitch aren't as bad as I thought!

Flubadubba · 18/10/2024 04:29

I have been wide awake since 1.30. 5 year old has had a fever and woke me up to climb into our bed (husband fled to spare room as she likes to spread out and needs the comfort). She went to sleep quickly, but my mind has been racing since then with a work situation.

Hang on in there! It does get better!

Namerchangee · 18/10/2024 04:30

I fell asleep in my DDs bed earlier - she woke me up by turning over so I got up to go to my own bed and bumped into my DS on the landing as he’d just wet the bed! Gah! Popped the wet bedding into the washing machine and now he’s cuddled up next to me, fast asleep. Bless him. Should really try to get back to sleep…

WYorkshireRose · 18/10/2024 04:33

We have a 12 week old puppy who still needs to go outside a couple of times in the night. After letting him out at 3 I couldn't get back to sleep so came downstairs and made myself a coffee. Fortunately I don't work on Fridays so once I've done the school run, I'll probably try to nap for a couple of hours to make up for it. He's lucky he's cute!

Why are you awake?
Bob234 · 18/10/2024 04:33

I dozed off on sofa 8-11.40pm woke up thirsty and watched a bit of TV, then wasn't sleepy.

I get horrible exam nerves too but the during usually wasn't as bad as I expected and can only try your best. I'm sure you know more than you realise.

There were people on my professional course who would lose their jobs if they failed which made me very relieved my employers only penalty was to pay the resit fees myself as I'd probably breakdown under such pressure, so hope it's nothing like that for you.

Savingthehedgehogs · 18/10/2024 04:37

I am going on holiday for a few days and fretting about anything I may have forgotten.

Stressedgiraffe · 18/10/2024 04:37

@Bob234 unfortunately I need 85% or above so no pressure 😕 I could probably resit but I'll fail my probation so I could lose my job. As I'm the sole earner I'm panicking.

Night shift. It's been quiet but I would rather not be here. I hate nights.

I’m not really a dog person @WYorkshireRose but hes really cute. To all the mums with young kids hang in there it does get better. Good luck with the exam @Stressedgiraffe and the wedding @garlictwist. @RhinestoneCowgirl i hope your DD is ok - my Dd left school in year 9 as she couldn’t cope we’ve had some really tricky years but she is now in college and told me only yesterday that she is really enjoying her life for the first time in years. I hope things improve for her. I have no excuse not to sleep as nothing significant is happening but probably a mix of hormones and drinking coke this evening- I need to remember I’m not in my 20s any more.
