Please could someone recommend some hardwearing non stick pans?

I was looking at the Ninja Zero Stick range, but the lady I was speaking to in Lakelanf said that you're just paying for the name with Ninja.

We seem to get through saucepans very quickly, and have done spectacularly well this time, and totally trashed a set of pans in under 5 years. Non stick is all chipped, and the rims of the pans are really pitted - it's as if the lids are made of a harder metal than the pans. They were Green Pan.

Previously we'd had a set of Ciculon non stick pans for about 8 years.

Prior to that, a set of Prestige pans for 15 years - not non stick, but eventually all the handles fell off. We did put them in the dishwasher, but haven't with the more recent pans.

We do cook from scratch most nights; often a veggie meal and a meaty meal, so we are pretty hard on our pans.

Same here. I'm so disappointed with the Le Creuset non stick set that I bought 4 years ago. All have suffered in the dishwasher and unusable as the non stick is flaking off. I bought a set of stainless steel Pro Cook ones. You really don't need non stick if you're careful.

Although I must admit I have a non stick large pancake pan!

Topseyt123 · 18/10/2024 00:57

I have stainless steel pro-cook ones. They are good, sturdy saucepans and look great.

They aren't non-stick but very little really sticks to them. They are dishwasher safe and that sorts everything out.

I've had them many years and they still show hardly any signs of wear.

Apart from for the frying pan, I don't bother buying non-stick anymore. It has such a limited lifespan and it really isn't dishwasher safe.

I also have Le Creuset stainless steel, almost 20'years old which also have a lifetime guarantee.

I also have a full set of Le Creuset saucepans but my favourite pans are 2 from the centre aisle at Lidl ! Grin

Another vote for John Lewis stainless steel. Received as a wedding present 10+ years ago, used daily and still as good as new.

Baital · 18/10/2024 06:22

John Lewis stainless steel here as well! 20 years old and have just had to replace the lid handle of one as the plastic broke. Otherwise all still as good as new.

I have a largish non stick wok-style frying pan and a small non stick of the fry-a-single-egg size, and accept they will need to be replaced every couple of years.

bluecomputerscreen · 18/10/2024 06:33

ikea stainless steel for most pots and pans where non-stick is not really needed and we prefer stuff to be able to go in the dishwasher

for frying wmf. bloody expensive but we have it for 5 years now and it still looks and works like new.

Footle · 18/10/2024 08:01

I'm old but even when I wasn't, my wrists weren't strong enough for Le Creuset.
Ernesto from Lidl centre isle is great.

BigDahliaFan · 18/10/2024 08:03

I've got some IKEA stainless steel pans, thick bases, they go in the dishwasher ....brilliant 20 years on. Ditto some M&S. non stick frying pans are hand washed but only last a few years.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 18/10/2024 08:04

I use Prestige stainless steel with copper bottoms. They are 33 years old and still going strong- they came with a lifetime guarantee. I also use some of my grandmother's pans and they must be around 95 years old (she was born in 1908, married in 1928 and died in 2008).

Scoville, I think they are brilliant, I've had them for years now and nothing ever sticks to them. They are really cheap as well.

Seconded. I even dry cook in mine without oil and nothing sticks

I got my Prestige pans in 1988; they are still going strong and are in excellent condition.

Thank you
I'll have s look at ProCook and Ingenio.

Avoid procook! We have their non stick pans. Not cheap either and within a year they were chipping. Have only ever used silicone spoons etc with them. I would not recomend at all!

Was chatting to a friend who had a similar issue with them. Apparently its using a dishwasher. Although they sell them as dishwasher proof, and if you wash them as per instructions, after a few washes they're not. We have a pro cook shop and i queried this with them and they said "yes we have heard this". So if you have a dishwasher and don't enjoy your dinner with flexcs of non stick lining in it, do not buy.

Stella stainless steel

They are not nonstick but stuff doesnt really stick to them.... the dishwasher washes anything and everything off.

Mine are 15 years old, as new and im sure they will outlive me

Mine are Stellar stainless steel and I've had them for 10 years.

Have to admit that the OP rather puzzled me, what are you doing to your pans?! We use ours daily and they look like new. But from reading these posts , it appears not all pans are created equal. I would recommend these Stellar ones.

Greentreesandbushes · 18/10/2024 08:26

Neff - we got a set free from Neff when I bought an oven and hob. They are 9 years in, used daily and look like new

TwistedSisters · 18/10/2024 08:27

Just got one of my Stellar ones out to look at it and they actually say on the bottom they have a lifetime guarantee - not entirely sure what that means in practice , but they're extremely hard wearing.

We have Stellar too ,they're 17 years old and look like new.

fussychica · 18/10/2024 08:30

Schulte Ufa pans that came free with my Neff induction hob plus a ceramic frying pan I bought in Spain.

SnackSnack · 18/10/2024 08:34

I never had much luck with pans until my granny gave me one that she'd been given by her mother. When she died, no one seemed to want her beloved pans so I took them. They're all early to mid 20th Century british made stainless steel. I adore them and think about my granny when I use them as she used them every day.
I appreciate that pre loved pans of this style don't work for everyone, especially those with induction hobs, but if you're on gas they're a thing.

Pumpkittenspice · 18/10/2024 08:37

We have this Tefal set, which we bought when we bought our house a year and a half ago. They’re used everyday, but are still like new with no wear and tear.

We love them! They’re dishwasher safe too

Please tell me about your good saucepans.
Passthecoffee · 18/10/2024 08:42

Another vote here for stellar. Got this set as a wedding present almost 14 years ago, they've been used daily since and are still going strong.

I have had the same set of stainless steel pans from Sainsburys for about 35 years, maybe more, and they are still really good. I'm not saying there might not be better ones out there, just that buying things because of the name doesn't necessarily mean you are buying better quality.

I bought my two best cooks knives from Sainsbury as well. The oldest is now about 45 years old and it does need to be rep!aced. The problem is that it is just the right weight and the handle is just the right shape. Most of the ones in the supermarket now seem to bend, I don't want a bendy knife! where on earth do I find another one that is just right.....

MargaretBetts · 18/10/2024 08:51

Stainless steel here too. Mixture of Pro cook, Le crueset and Mauviel. The Mauviel pans are in a different league, but so is the price.
