Please tell me about your good saucepans.

Please could someone recommend some hardwearing non stick pans?

I was looking at the Ninja Zero Stick range, but the lady I was speaking to in Lakelanf said that you're just paying for the name with Ninja.

We seem to get through saucepans very quickly, and have done spectacularly well this time, and totally trashed a set of pans in under 5 years. Non stick is all chipped, and the rims of the pans are really pitted - it's as if the lids are made of a harder metal than the pans. They were Green Pan.

Previously we'd had a set of Ciculon non stick pans for about 8 years.

Prior to that, a set of Prestige pans for 15 years - not non stick, but eventually all the handles fell off. We did put them in the dishwasher, but haven't with the more recent pans.

We do cook from scratch most nights; often a veggie meal and a meaty meal, so we are pretty hard on our pans.

My mum gave us a set of Stella stainless steel saucepans as a house warming gift about 10 years ago. They seem virtually indestructible. They look like new and show absolutely no signs of wear and tear. I can see them lasting longer than me!

rightoguvnor · 17/10/2024 22:38

I have ProCook Gourmet and they're amazing. Over 10 yrs old and spotless. Sometimes I think magic pixies sneak in at night and polish them.

Scampuss · 17/10/2024 22:42

Le Creuset stainless steel saucepans here, I expect they'll long outlive me.

John Lewis!! Second to top of the range. I bought mine 20 years ago and, with a bit of spit and polish, they look like new!

mitogoshigg · 17/10/2024 22:50

My big pan is Denby, it's 16 years old and used most days. I not only use for saucepan cooking but regularly use it to stir fry in too

Don't get stainless steel pans if you are in a hard water area, I found my pro cook ones impossible to get clean. They wouldn't take them back either

Stainless steel Fissler "Original Profi collection" 6 items, used on induction hob. 15 + years, still look like new (ish).

We're on our third Green Pan frying pan in 5 years, and the rest of our Green Pan set has suffered the same fate as the OPs (I'm so glad it's not just ours)!

They're good for the first 18m, but that's it.

We're moving towards Le Creuset as we replace our pan set but by bit.

duckydoo234 · 17/10/2024 22:58

What went wrong with your Circulon ones? I have a fantastic set, including a grill pan, admittedly only had them for 6 years, but can't see how they won't last forever (except for a lot of, presumably, fork-hacking on the small pan by the teenager). I especially love the lips on the side of the pans and the holes on the side of the lids - colanders can retire, we don't need you no more.

As an aside, at the same time as buying these, I spent a small fortune on a large set of Cangshan knives, and it was money well spent. They will also last forever.

Sainsburys do stainless steel saucepans with glass/silicone lids which I’m really pleased with. Suitable for all hob types and are dishwasher safe. They were reasonable priced too.

I bought these for my ds when he moved into his own home and he uses them everyday and they are still perfect. Nothing really seems to stick to them. They go into the dishwasher.

Stella stainless steel.

Copperoliverbear · 17/10/2024 23:04

Denby pans! I may add one to the Christmas list.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads I have a set of 4 Meyer Bella Cuisine pots and lids which I have been using for 29 years. got them as a housewarming present from my mother when I moved into this house! still going strong!

mathanxiety · 17/10/2024 23:33

There is no good non-stick pan.

The best pans that are non-stick if treated right are cast iron pans.

Bookishnerd · 17/10/2024 23:40

Another vote for Le Creuset stainless steel.

My DH bought our first one in the pandemic and I thought he’d gone nuts as it was so expensive. I couldn’t see how any saucepan could be worth that much.

Oh how wrong I was! We’ve got three now, and honestly it’s mad how good they are. They keep the heat in, no marks either. The big one is like new and has had almost daily use for four and a half years, and not a mark on it.

The initial outlay is eye-watering but as PP said, they’ll outlive me. Amazing pans

mackerella · 17/10/2024 23:42

Another vote here for John Lewis stainless steel ones - I was given some as a 21st birthday present 27 years ago and they're still as good as new! Easy to clean with salt or wire wool if you happen to burn anything on them, and they have heavy bases which work brilliantly on our induction hob.

HurdyGurdy19 · 17/10/2024 23:43

I was really happy with my Scovile pans, but the new induction hob wasn't, so they had to go.

I now have Circulon Scratch Defense Extreme saucepans and so far, they are excellent. The hob is happy to work with them, anyway. They're still very new, so I'm handwashing them, but they are living up to the "never stick" claim so far

FussyPud · 17/10/2024 23:50

I have the Ikea stainless steel ones. They’ve been brilliant so far. The big sauté pan is excellent, and is happy enough in the oven as well as on the hob.

thinkfast · 17/10/2024 23:51

Fissler stainless steel pans are amazing. Amazing.

Anisty · 17/10/2024 23:56

Most of my pans are Circulon hard anodised and i have one le creuset non stick saucepan.

My favourite pan is my 'chef's pan' by Circulon. I use it every single day. It is the shape and size of a wok and the whole pan can go into the oven. It does the lot!

SausageRoll2020 · 17/10/2024 21:12

We have tefal pans, I can't remember the exact name of the range but they are the ones where the handles are detachable so way easier to keep tidy in the cupboard.
Have have them a few years now and happy with the quality, they also go in the oven which is great.

The Tefal saucepans with detachable handles are called Ingenio.

meala · 18/10/2024 00:36

Meyer stainless steel and non stick frying pan. Amazing

greenmarsupial · 18/10/2024 00:48

We bought copper/stainless steel pans from an Observer pullout about 17 years ago and they are still going strong. They are steel on the inside so not non-stick but nothing seems to stick. They are a bit like this one amzn.eu/d/7oeDBWB but not quite as fancy (or expensive).

I sort of wanted them to give out because I fancy the le creuset stainless steel pans. We have quite a few cast iron ones which were a wedding present and are still perfect. You just need to learn the tricks for maintenance and seasoning but they would probably be better if we didn't stick them through the dishwasher!

dementedpixie · 17/10/2024 21:10

We have pro.cook pans. Not non stick but stainless steel

Same here. I'm so disappointed with the Le Creuset non stick set that I bought 4 years ago. All have suffered in the dishwasher and unusable as the non stick is flaking off. I bought a set of stainless steel Pro Cook ones. You really don't need non stick if you're careful.
