My hairdressers didn't know a spice girls song...when did you realise you were "old"?

I'm 39.
She's 21
She said "oh yeah I've heard of them but not sure on songs they sang"

Spent the rest of the two hours feeling like a fossil and mentally singing every song from their first album 😂

I made reference to the popular 90s film Sliding Doors.

30 something colleague hadn't heard of it.

Bad enough. But then she added, "I don't watch old films, you know, stuff before 2000."

Omg is she missing out!!

I'm 30 something and Ioved it. I was in high school when it came out, and me and my friends all liked it at the time. I am in my late 30s, but still surprised she didn't know it.

When I heard people mention Padam Padam I assumed it was the Edith Piaf version. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 😃

Not to the young ones, she's not!

When has she last had a song out?

This July.

This July.

Was it a hit?

Define hit. The ‘young ones’ don’t care about the charts much. She’s very much a current artist. It would be odd for a 21 year old in Britain not to know her. The young people mentioned in these comments were French though, which probably explains it.

I was in A&E recently there was a big bearded bloke in front of me with his toddler, I assumed he was my age (mid thirties). Then he had to give his DOB to the receptionist. He was born 2005.

Going on from my disgraceful situation of having a 20 year old son who didn't know who Kylie was, I decided it needed further investigation. I am a teacher in a university and this morning I had a class full of 20 year olds, so I asked them the same question and was met by blank faces, none of them knew who Kylie was.

So, yes, as a mother I have failed, however in this case I'm gong to blame cultural differences, it's France's fault!

I disagree that she's a current artist. Shes still making music, but so are lots of musicians.

She hasn't been the news for a long time.

She has niche fans. But a lot of people wouldn't think about her at all
