I effed up our holiday

Flying out tomorrow on easyJet - family of five - first time on easyJet- had no idea we had to book our seats in advance. Just logged in and seen there's only random single seats left. Except for two rows that are near the fire exits so can't be allocated to under 16s. I'm gutted ! What do we do now , my youngest is 7 and the flight is 6 hours long. How could I be so stupid and not know this.

I was being tongue in cheek. Implying that someone is unlikely to want to sit next to someone else’s child any more than I would want to sit separately to my child. Good grief! It’s too early on a Sunday to already be looking for ways to be offended by strangers online 🙄

Why do people trot out that line?

Why do you call people "offended" because they've not agreed with what you said?

It's weird, I'm not offended just because I don't put a post that aligns exactly with your views.

If you did something your Boss didn't agree with, would you tell them to stop being offended?!

It's weird 😂

Because if you’d given it an ounce of thought you could have figured it out but I expect you’re here for the dopamine hit you get from arguing with strangers online rather than to offer support or constructive advice….Boring 🥱

It's ironic really when you're doing the exact same thing your accusing me of doing.

Resorting to berating and personal insults because you got a reply you didn't like isn't the flex you think it is. You must be exhausted if you react like this all the time when you get responses on here and in life that you don't like.

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

gone all the way through this thread looking for an update on how the flight actually went. Did I miss it?!

Hope the flight was ok op

I don't think there is an update yet, but we are all on tenterhooks here!

No update on flight. The last update was laughing at the nasty comments

LlynTegid · 20/10/2024 10:17

OP, how's the holiday going so far?

MellersSmellers · 20/10/2024 10:39

The kids will be fine even if you can't manage to sit together. On a 6 hr flight there should be in-flight entertainment - they'll just plug in the whole time, and enjoy the food goings-on

With Easyjet AFAIK if you want in flight entertainment you BYO.

With easy jet being a ‘no frills’ budget airline there isn’t any in flight entertainment which makes flying with kids even trickier

EasyJet doesn't have in-flight entertainment.

Miyagi99 · 20/10/2024 11:28

Check in, I don’t pay for seats together but check in early so there will be lots like me on your flight that the flight staff can move around so you can sit with your children, I wouldn’t mind moving, I’d have booked my seat if I minded when I was sat.

jabbaf · 20/10/2024 11:42

oh so no updates, just a post slating people for being arsey on the thread? So one of those tiime waster threads then.

Scrimblescromble · 20/10/2024 12:46

BustingBaoBun · 20/10/2024 09:38

weve made this mistake before first time we flew together

I would not call it making a mistake. I would call it deliberately opting out of seat selection at least three times

That’s nice for you. I don’t really care. I think you might have to look up the meanings of ‘deliberate’ and ‘mistake’ though. Deliberate would mean I intentionally set out to do that. A mistake is a mistake…: it was careless but it certainly wasn’t deliberate. Weird thing to get your knickers in a twist about

Yes, all posters are contractually obliged to update the thread (whilst on holiday with their family) to satisfy the curiosity of internet strangers.

jabbaf · 20/10/2024 13:04

well if you start a thread you should finish it. And she did return after arriving on holiday and didn't offer any update, which is just not very sporting I'm afraid!

But OP HAS come back to the thread on holiday .. but didn’t say what happened on the flight 🤷🏻‍♀️ weird

poppysgalore · 20/10/2024 19:09

Hello again, sorry I was going to copy and paste a long message I actually wrote out on the very long flight and then lost WiFi 🥴

It absolutely wasn't an issue whatsoever. We arrived early and asked at the desk and they said under 12s are not seated away from a parent so cabin crew would handle it on board. The cabin crew checked the seating plan and from the random seats we'd been allocated , they looked at the one that had the people who were most suited to move ie a couple and a single traveller. These three got upgraded to the over 16 seats. Which left us three seats plus the one we were allocated so me and the 3 dc and dh had his own original seat which was about 3 rows up from us. He offered to swap halfway however he was right next to the toilet and the toilet queue so I passed on that ! The cabin crew were amazing , I'm so grateful for them and the people who happily moved.

I certainly wouldn't of moved if I'd paid for my seat, and iam slways a loan traveller. Why should people move because you fucked up and they have paid. Bit of a CF

Errrr not really - the other passengers got upgraded? Bit strong calling the OP a CF - not sure if you’ve read the FT.

Why are you always a lone traveller?🤔

Yes I've read the whole thread thank you, basically she didn't pay and pre booked seats and was hoping people would move for her.
Iam.a lone traveller through choice I actually enjoy going on holiday alone, I've done it for well over 10 years twice a year, mainly same hotel, again through choice...but thank you for asking!

It's not an upgrade though, it's literally being moved to seats where under 16s can't sit because whoever is there may need to help in an emergency.

There is nothing to upgrade to on easyjet

TickingAlongNicely · 20/10/2024 20:13

The emergency exit seats are extra legroom.
