Are you getting the flu jab this year?

Every year I wonder the same thing, do I get it or not! Most years I feel ropey for a few days after and that’s what puts me off. If everyone has had it yet this year how have you felt after? I’m early 40s if that’s important!

Already had it, and a covid jab at the same time.

Mintearo7 · 14/10/2024 13:09

I’ve had it, felt absolutely fine after.

Me too. Sore arms for a couple of days and felt a bit meh, but surely worth it?

Yep, had it 10 days ago and covid one on Friday. No after effects for either

Moier · 14/10/2024 13:11

Yes tomorrow (I'm 66).
Not having covid.
Going to have the pneumonia one too.

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/10/2024 13:11

Yes! Paying for it this year after randomly being invited for one last year by the GP. I had flu in the spring and wanted to die.

KnittedCardi · 14/10/2024 13:12

Had mine. Felt a bit "off" for a couple of days. Took some paracetamol to mitigate, but didn't stop me doing anything day to day.

ChaoticCrumble · 14/10/2024 13:12

Sore arm and no side effects after flu jab last week. I used to feel rough after the covid ones.

kelline · 14/10/2024 13:12

Yes I had it last week. I never get side effects, and I got it done in Boots which was free (I'm a carer) and easy to book online. The only thing that puts me off is the inconvenience and booking. My toddler has to have hers at the GP and that was a pain to book as I have to call to book and there are only certain days/times that are convenient.

HelloCheekyCat · 14/10/2024 13:13

I do but only because it is free through work
wouldn't if I had to pay!

Ratfinkstinkypink · 14/10/2024 13:13

Yes, I am a foster carer to a clinically vulnerable 4 year old we were both jabbed on Friday. I got a sore arm and he was a bit out of sorts on Saturday but at least we are both done now. Just waiting for the COVID one for him.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 14/10/2024 13:17

Yes but just because I get it through work. It often makes me feel slightly like I'm coming down with something for a day or two, but it's not too bad

Lifestooshort71 · 14/10/2024 13:20

I'm 72 and had both on the same day. 'Had flu' the next day for about 12hrs and a bruised lump on leg from flu jab. I survived.

AmyDudley · 14/10/2024 13:22

I had covid and flu jab about 10 days ago, I'm 65. Felt like I'd been hit by a truck and had a temperature for about 5 days, normally I'm fine just a sore arm and feel a bit off for a ouple of days, but this time it seemed to affect me more.
I've recently had a major operation though so maybe I'm a bit weaker than usual.
I'd still have it though, feeling rotten for a few days is better than flu which has knocked me out for weeks in the past and made me really ill. And maybe it was the covid jab that made me feel rough.

blackcatsblackcats · 14/10/2024 13:22

Surely feeling a bit ropey is better than actually having flu?

Like pp I’ve had flu and Covid jabs together.

DogInATent · 14/10/2024 13:22

Had it, and the covid jab (although not at the same time).
'Flu jab did it's usual thing and knocked me back a bit for 24hrs (like a flu hangover).

I get offered the 'flu and covid jabs every year, and the pneumococcal every five years. I take them all. I've only had the genuine 'flu twice as an adult, and I'll take a day of feeling grotty once a year over the low risk of possibly of being bed-ridden for a week and felling like crap for a fortnight.

Cosycore · 14/10/2024 13:23

Not yet. But I’m going to get the flu and Covid vaccines.
I felt awful with the first ones, but as time has went on, I just feel bad the day after. So fingers crossed. Similar age to you OP

Same here. No ill effects from either

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/10/2024 13:26

Having both next week as I do every year, absolutely worth it,I'd do just about anything to avoid having either tbh.

sanityisamyth · 14/10/2024 13:27

Already had it.

ARichtGoodDram · 14/10/2024 13:27

Had the flu and Covid vaccines. Covid vaccine has given me a sore arm and felt a bit tipsy first a couple of days.

I always feel shit for a few days, but after having flu in 2017 I'll never miss it as I've never felt so unwell as I did then.

Dailybasis · 14/10/2024 13:29

Just had mine, 59. Always have it as really don't want a bout of actual flu

BakedBeansforabrain · 14/10/2024 13:29

Had mine on Saturday felt fine since except a sore arm

easylikeasundaymorn · 14/10/2024 13:29

Always get it, mainly because my work pay for it so seems silly not to although tbh id probably pay for it even if they didnt given its only about £13 in asda. I've never had any side effects apart from something like a bit of a headache an hour or two later.

Justcallmebebes · 14/10/2024 13:30

Had it a week or so ago. All fine

Refused Covid jab tho
