If you like an item on vinted and it's hung up in their living room/ bedroom/ kitchen, and you can clearly see that room is very dirty.. does it put you off buying?

coronafiona · 11/10/2024 18:52

I'm afraid it would, yes

IDontDrinkTea · 11/10/2024 18:53

Yup. Background matters. For example, if it’s laid on the floor and you can tell they haven’t hovered, I won’t be buying it

HundredMilesAnHour · 11/10/2024 18:54

Yes. Definitely. Just as I won't buy anything that is lying on the floor in photos.

Nearlyadoctor · 11/10/2024 18:55

Yes every time

SimpleThings101 · 11/10/2024 19:01

It would put me off

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 11/10/2024 19:02

100%

justanotherchangeofname · 11/10/2024 19:02

Definitely

SleekWhisky · 11/10/2024 19:02

Yes absolutely, if they can't find a clean wall or cupboard there is no hope of the item turning up clean!

IWantToBeASleepingCat · 11/10/2024 19:10

Ty.
I agree with you all.
I also scroll in and look for bobbling. Don't like screwed up/ non ironed.

OP posts:
tresleches · 11/10/2024 19:16

Anything saying “worn once”, too

Ineedaholidayyyy · 11/10/2024 19:17

Yes it would put me off.

Sometimes I lay mine on a clean, hovered carpet, but just seen above this would also put people off so one for me to bear in mind as a seller!

TokyoSushi · 11/10/2024 19:18

Absolutely yes, also the item on the person, I like to pretend nobody has ever worn it!!

Totally agree about the screwed up / lack of ironing. I know most of us dislike ironing but come on!

Some of the sellers clearly have zero idea about selling.

I'll add to the clueless seller list the people who sell things at prices that are HIGHER than buying direct from the brand. Do they not check prices first?

Yes! Especially the ones who say it's new with tags and never worn, as they pose in the pictures wearing it. 😂

professionaloverthinker · 11/10/2024 19:20

The background is the first thing I look at when click on the photo so would definitely put me off

I’ve put a lot of clothes on there that I’ve genuinely only worn once/tried on, I’m just rubbish at getting around to returning things and bad at predicting what I’ll wear. So I believe them!

Same!

But dirty setting - urgh, no.

Same! I suppose some people only buy brand new with tags? But I mean, it's Vinted.. I expect things to have been worn.

NameChangeUser183794639 · 11/10/2024 19:28

No. It wouldn't put me off. I'm only interested in the item, the quality and state of the item and mostly, the price.

All the duds (some quite terrible) I've bought from Vinted have been carefully staged and filters used dishonestly. Or outright lied about inthe description.

I much prefer an non-curated image that I can see properly. Anything soiled can go in the wash.

I much prefer a seller put something like 'been in attic or storage so a bit dusty/will need a wash or a light repair but selling as is' at least they're trustworthy and I know what I'm getting. The background doesn't matter if the item is accurately described. It can be washed or dry cleaned if I really want it.

timenowplease · 11/10/2024 19:29

Yes and also, someone holding the label where you can see dirty fingernails.

Can't bear seeing clothes photographed on the floor! Why not lay them on a bed if you can't hang them on a doorframe?

Oh yes, and it's very common.

Letsdoit123 · 11/10/2024 19:33

Recently came across a pic of a new jacket on the floor with a MASSIVE cockroach in the corner of the pic, no need to say I didn’t buy😅.
So yes, clothes surrounded by mess is not a great sign.

Redburnett · 11/10/2024 19:33

I am a bit disillusioned with Vinted, I have bought a few items that turned out to have minor flaws, eg small stain, small hole; not immediately obvious so only discovered after I have clicked everything is ok. It's annoying that sellers are not honest. It is definitely more of a problem on Vinted than on ebay.

Sorry I should have added when it’s obviously been worn more than once! Or more than once by someone, if not the seller. I don’t mind used clothing at all, as pp said I just appreciate honesty
