Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.
Finsbury Park

gets popcorn to watch @GertrudeJekyllAndHyde and @BlackOrangeFrog slug it out.

Oh, do I have to move? Ok, Canada Waters

BlackOrangeFrog · 23/10/2024 16:40

Ah, a classic pincer move.
Hmmm, I shall initiate the Pump House Rules and execute the Reverse Switch to Arsenal.

DuckonaBike · 23/10/2024 18:15

Woah, things are getting lively! I haven’t seen such aggressive play since Brighton Pavilion in 2007 (just before the notorious incident, in fact).

Half Nelson to Kentish Town West

Boredmum24 · 23/10/2024 18:24

Elongated lateral to Southgate

MyrtleStrumpet · 23/10/2024 19:39

I am very unwell so forgive my very boring move to King's Cross. But there are options because the 1968 convention puts St Pancras in play as well.

LlynTegid · 23/10/2024 20:53

Options that include Angel.

MarkWithaC · 24/10/2024 08:59

Good heavens, I step away to type up my minutes from the Exeter symposium and miss the MC equivalent of a Federer/Nadal Wimbledon final!
The quality of play here is genuinely astounding. I need to find time at the weekend to brush up on Patel's 2019 Encyclopaedia.
In the meantime, a Mixed Giga to Charing Cross.

Was it at the Exeter symposium that they held the forum on whether and how to permit AI technology in the game of games? I heard the discussion became somewhat heated and both Devon Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service had to be called.

Ealing Broadway

FelixtheAardvark · 24/10/2024 10:51

Lots of complicated and subtle moves here but, at the end of the day, nearly all of them can be trumped by:

Edgware Road (Hammersmith & City Line).

Now get out of that!

MarkWithaC · 24/10/2024 11:42

Gertrude, the official record does not reflect that, no...

Hyde Park Corner, triple-backed.

OP posts:
BlackOrangeFrog · 24/10/2024 11:49

Hmmm. Delays on the Jubilee line, mean we can go to disused stations only before noon. So... Wood Lane via Hammersmith and City.

MyrtleStrumpet · 24/10/2024 12:20

Tricky. Not many options available now.

I know it's unusual but I'm heading to Barbican.

TragicMuse · 24/10/2024 12:25

I see your Barbican and I raise you a Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3!

(One of my absolute favourite combinations!)

Pour me an absinthe, I feel quite celebratory!

Seaside1234 · 24/10/2024 13:40

@TragicMuse absinthe before 3pm? Explains some of the moves I've seen on here...

Kings Gambit to Tottenham Court Road

BlackOrangeFrog · 24/10/2024 13:55

interesting plan @Seaside1234 ... I must admit this will take some thought. However, I think I see a way out (and making me only two moves away from victory) Wilkinson's Shamble to Wembley Park (Metropolitan)

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 24/10/2024 17:19

<<surveys the scene through her pince-nex>>

TragicMuse is clearly not alone in her fondness for absinthe. Has the Colonel been making his notorious cocktails again? I shall proceed in my characteristically sober manner to

Hanger Lane

MyrtleStrumpet · 24/10/2024 23:47

I can see that Hanger Lane has had everyone stumped. Me, too, frankly. Until it came to me quite vividly.

Using the 1998 conditions from the Prague summit and a little lateral thinking, it can only be...

Buckhurst Hill!

Boredmum24 · 25/10/2024 10:52

After some pondering. A quick re read of Hardcastles chapter 4 would suggest that cockfosters is appropriate in the circumstances

Ah, did you read the footnote on page 73? I think you'll find, unless you happen to be wearing a top hat, that move might be considered void ... and that would be awkward.

I just got back from the palace. I know proxy moves are not permitted outside of exhibition rounds, but as it seems that we are playing by Babbington rules, HRH suggested placing a lateral back to Buckhurst Hill.

I think those who have studied continental methods know what is coming next.

Seaside1234 · 25/10/2024 17:29

Certainly not going to argue with HRH. And an elegant set up to Pinner.

MyrtleStrumpet · 25/10/2024 20:30

The quality of the moves is astonishing! And delighted that royalty admired my last move enough to place a lateral back to it!

<preens>

And Pinner opens up so many more moves, hence Warren Street.

LlynTegid · 26/10/2024 15:37

Warren Street has always confused those who are not players of the game of games because the exits from the train are not the usual side.

Hyde Park Corner

Boredmum24 · 26/10/2024 17:23

I believe this opens up swiss cottage

BlackOrangeFrog · 26/10/2024 17:57

Ah, a Flop to Swiss Cottage after Hyde Park... surely, according to the Farrier Convention, we are only allowwd a triple line stations ...?

So a switch to Green Park
