Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.
Finsbury Park

Goodness me! This has shaken things up a bit!

Pimlico? Really? On a Wednesday?

Thanks to @DuckonaBike and the Volta variation - which I know has fallen from favour but I like it...

Mornington Crescent!*

That's only possible because @LlynTegid playing Chesham switched the gates to Northbound. Ordinarily it would take have been an option. Unless it was Candlemass. But let's not go there.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 17/10/2024 14:08

Coo, TragicMuse! That was swift but decisive. Over to you to start the next game.

I'm going off to brush up my transverse merged shunts, which have let me down badly here.

MarkWithaC · 17/10/2024 16:20

Good heavens, Muse, that was quite inspired. I had to dust off my copy of Kierkesen to help me to make some kind of sense of that last empirical; so sophisticated and, I admit, somewhat beyond me.
Congratulations, and I wait with bated breath to see how you kick off the next one.

DuckonaBike, yes, it's true about the badger, but the story regarding the window cleaner and the leaf-blower is pure fantasy on the part of a disgruntled ex-employee.

The shortest play of the game of games I have ever been a part of.

The first on MN I ever joined lasted 11 months.

MarkWithaC · 17/10/2024 17:50

Was that the one where cherry brandy ended up being posted up and down the country?
I wasn't involved – no one invited me, not that I'm bitter, you understand – but I heard a few stories, quite colourful, about the choirmaster and the master baker, among others.

Starting anew with...

Hainault

Make of that what you will!

Seaside1234 · 17/10/2024 21:58

Still stunned by the decisive conclusion earlier - what a spot!

Cockfosters

Cockfosters

Why are you playing it so safe Seaside? I saw you play in the semi-finals in Reykjavik and I was dazzled by your oblique slides, which you employed like the master you truly are.

Because I have not yet mastered the 'Gnostic' variants, I will go for Balham.

MarkWithaC · 18/10/2024 08:54

All I will say about Seaside is still waters run deep...

Pinner

LlynTegid · 18/10/2024 09:31

I better not move to Chesham.

Northwood Hills

FelixtheAardvark · 18/10/2024 11:55

Sloane Square

A move so obvious it calls for no further comment.

Seaside1234 · 18/10/2024 12:42

Sometimes it's best to keep your powder dry.

Euston Square.

MarkWithaC · 18/10/2024 15:55

An elegant round so far.
Trying to keep my end up: Kilburn Park

Once more unto the fray!

Addendum C, I believe someone said?
Addendum schmaddendum, I say.

A cheeky Perkins nor'easterly to Boston Manor, and Howzat!

Boredmum24 · 18/10/2024 19:11

According to lady Hardcastles I believe a lateral shunt to seven sisters is in order

TragicMuse · 18/10/2024 22:22

Steady on!

Piccadilly Circus

BlackOrangeFrog · 18/10/2024 22:25

Moorgate.

Get out of that!

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 19/10/2024 01:24

Goodness me. I go out for the day (called to the Palace ... delivered urgent briefing ... can't say more until the superinjunction is lifted) and pandemonium breaks out. I shall restore order and discipline with an elongated Fanthorpe to

Tower Hill

LlynTegid · 20/10/2024 10:29

Order is indeed restored, thank you @GertrudeJekyllAndHyde .

Mansion House

DuckonaBike · 20/10/2024 12:58

I always feel it’s a little dull if a game gets too orderly, so I’m going to disrupt things with a wild card:

Wapping

Boredmum24 · 20/10/2024 13:02

A little unconventional maybe but I'll risk south Kensington

Seaside1234 · 20/10/2024 14:23

Oooh, I like that @Boredmum24 ! Something a bit different! You've inspired me: Euston Square

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 20/10/2024 17:50

Fair point, DuckOnABike, about not being excessively orderly. After all, nobody who was a stickler for order would have survived the Bergen playoffs in '2020, would they?

Clapham Common

BlackOrangeFrog · 20/10/2024 18:05

Really? On the third Sunday in October? I thought it was agreed at the 2017 Basingstoke convention that this sort of thing just wasn't allowed anymore?

Nevermind.
