Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.
Finsbury Park

Hmm. Tricky. Are double laterals in play generally or only on the Jubilee line? Without the suffragan bishop here to advise me, I think the best I can do now is

Dollis Hill

MarkWithaC · 24/04/2025 10:36

Double laterals are in general play as far as I can tell. (I'm thinking of the Oslo Accord from 2002).

Victoria, invoking Khan's Exception.

Khan's Exception at this juncture???
I think the only strategic and logical move is Neasden
(Ɓearing in mind the location of the depot)

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 25/04/2025 01:00

Once again I feel it is my solemn duty (and following HazelBite’s excellent example) to calm matters and return this game to its usual standard of probity and decorum. With that in mind:

Tooting Bec

MarkWithaC · 25/04/2025 08:40

Khan's is perfectly valid when there's a preceding small angle, as is present here.
Admittedly I could have played a Bythington instead, but I have never forgotten the spring run-off rounds at Deal that time when the choirmaster tried it and… well, if you know you know what happened after that.

Acton Town

The Room Where It Happened, indeed @MarkWithaC

Surrey Quays

MarkWithaC · 25/04/2025 14:18

I'd forgotten you were there, Muse!
Spring run-offs have never been quite the same since.
A simple McPidgeon to South Kensington.

Where's everyone else? Not caught up in that rumoured semi-hostile takeover at the MC sub-headquarters in Poole, I hope.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 27/04/2025 10:05

There is an MC sub-headquarters? You learn something new every day.

As I move to Osterley to recover from this news.

HazelBite · 27/04/2025 19:17

I'm having a bad day, and can barely think straight so I think I'm going very quietly to Watford

TragicMuse · 27/04/2025 21:49

I’ve always said Watford is the best balm for a weary mind…I hope it soothes you @HazelBite

I feel inexorably and inexplicably drawn to Tooting Bec

Arlanymor · 28/04/2025 18:41

I’m so sorry @HazelBite - join me for a drink won’t you? Do you like the green fairy minx one?

As I sail through the seasons of my life to…

Mornington Crescent.

Arlanymor · 28/04/2025 18:42

And yes, I did use a double diagonal! It’s 22 degrees here!

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 28/04/2025 22:22

Arlanymoooooor! That was a very saucy move. Few would have had the courage. Brava!

Thank you - the sun probably went to my head a bit!

Arlanymor · 28/04/2025 22:26

lying down now

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 28/04/2025 22:32

Yes, I suggest reclining on the chaise longue with a cooling tincture or two. You must be quite enervated after that stupendous move and the hours of thought that must have gone into it.

MarkWithaC · 29/04/2025 11:46

Congrats, Arlanymor! I confess I didn't see that one coming, although with the benefit of hindsight I do now see how that earlier combination of a half-cocked flip and an Eddington paved the way. Lovely stuff.

It's your privilege to open the next game...
