Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.

I accept the decision to be in Nidd and will make no further moves in this game. I will follow its progress with interest.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 28/11/2024 20:15

Oh no, LlynTegid. No need to be so harsh. I'm sure the rules of MC (most versions anyway, barring the Worksop Exemption) allow you to rejoin the game as soon as someone plays a lefthanded pivot on the Northern line.

Paddington

Seaside1234 · 29/11/2024 11:45

Blasted Worksop. How long will that exemption rule hang over the game?

Baron's Court.

MyrtleStrumpet · 29/11/2024 12:01

Ah! Gertrude's herbal tincture has mollified me - it really does work wonders! I can do the left-handed pivot on the Northern Line to Golders Green tomove anyone out of Nidd.

Boredmum24 · 29/11/2024 13:20

A lateral diversion to green park

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 29/11/2024 13:34

Oh, I can't credit for the herbal tincture. It's entirely of the under-gardener's invention and manufacture. It was purely by chance I came across it under the potting bench, when the young lieutenant invited me into his glasshouse to see his pelargoniums. Thinking of which

Covent Garden

TragicMuse · 29/11/2024 16:03

Pelargonium, geranium, potato, potahto...

I am drawn, inexorably, moth-to-candle-like, to pastures west. North west even.

Stanmore.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 29/11/2024 20:45

Just as I was drawn to the pelargonia.

Shepherds Bush Market

MyrtleStrumpet · 29/11/2024 21:20

How splendid!

For the very first time, because it's a new station and because of the move to Covent Garden and Shepherd's Bush Market I can play Nine Elms! Which is of course where New Covent Market moved over 30 years ago.

Oh my, the satisfaction of a virgin move! If I inform MCHQ, can I invoke the Malibu Memorandum to claim an extra move at my next turn?

Seaside1234 · 29/11/2024 23:35

Nice try, @Myrtle . (But nice move as well).

Canada Wharf

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 30/11/2024 13:03

Yes, a good wheeze but I think we all remember what happened the last time a hapless player petitioned MCHQ to initiate the Malibu Memorandum. I shall avoid all such unpleasantness with a reverse slide to

Stockwell

MyrtleStrumpet · 30/11/2024 16:38

You've got to give a girl credit for trying!

It's not far so I'm travelling to
Vauxhall.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 30/11/2024 17:30

Well, Myrtle, they say girls just wanna have fun, as anyone who was at last year's grand finale will recall only too well. I shall now move to the epicentre of fun -

South Wimbledon

MyrtleStrumpet · 30/11/2024 17:52

Well I never! Have you been stalking me, Gertrude? I lived not far from there about a decade ago.

I'll retreat to another old stomping ground in order to open up the game a little.

Leyton

Boredmum24 · 30/11/2024 18:12

Well if we're revisiting old haunts seven sisters

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 30/11/2024 18:52

No, I haven't been stalking you, Myrtle. I have no need as the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis is a very dear friend (naturally, we met on the MC circuit) and had mentioned a few of their, ahem, concerns. But I'm never one to gossip so shall leave it there.

Turnpike Lane

LlynTegid · 01/12/2024 07:49

I could write a lot about old haunts and connections to the game of games. As Advent has begun it would be inappropriate.

MyrtleStrumpet · 01/12/2024 13:12

You mean the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis? My brother. We have had quite the amusement at the ridiculous things you will believe about me.

St James's Park, former site of New Scotland Yard.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 01/12/2024 14:00

I wondered whether he might be feeding me disinformation but, coincidentally, what he told me matched what I found in the national archives, the court circular and the dark web. You can't throw me off the scent so easily, Myrtle.

Clapham South

TragicMuse · 02/12/2024 11:35

Gosh.

Might I throw calm upon the waters with a nimble volta to Bond Street.

Some retail therapy perhaps? A new hat? A lorgnette?

MyrtleStrumpet · 02/12/2024 16:07

If you have anything you want to accuse me of, Gertrude, then let's have it. I'm at Piccadilly Circus.

MarkWithaC · 02/12/2024 17:18

Gosh, I've missed much, haven't I?!

I'm fine, by the way, thank you for asking, just a couple of late nights with the crochet and hook circle. Some of the refreshments people bring are not entirely what a person would expect of such pillars of the local community, but I suppose it all greases the social wheels. That's what I told the répétiteuse, anyway, who was somewhat abashed at where she woke up after last Saturday's session.

Without further ado, Highgate (using an inverted Peg Point).

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 02/12/2024 18:26

Excuse my turning up so late. At TragicMuse's suggestion, I have spent a happy afternoon at LorgnetteSavers, picking out something chic and stylish for my festive wardrobe. One must stay up to date with current trends, n'est-ce pas?

West Acton

MarkWithaC · 02/12/2024 18:38

That reminds me, Monocles-R-Us have a rather good December deal on.

A upper-cut Mason to Liverpool Street

OP posts:
HazelBite · 03/12/2024 00:29

An upper cut Mason would give me access to Overground. ( I Don't know if it is a very wise move at this juncture) but it's worth a try *White Hart Lane"
