For those of us old enough to remember this radio station, it’s back and available on an app.
Playing 80’s, 90’s and 00’s. It’s a blast from the past for me!

I remember it felt like they had about 10 songs on a loop and were always playing 'The Winds of Change' by The Scorpions😁. Luckily I loved that song!

MilesOfCarpetTiles · 10/10/2024 07:17

I listened to this constantly! Thanks OP!

dramalamma · 10/10/2024 08:27

Thanks OP! Ive just downloaded it - this was the only station we could get on the radio in the late 90s and noughties so its a real nostagia for me - was so upset when it stopped

Have you listened to the podcast about that song? There's a conspiracy theory that it was written by the CIA! The podcast is really good!

'I listen to longwave radio Atlantic 252' has to the be answer, no matter what the question.

MoreCardassianThanKardashian · 10/10/2024 18:58

OMG! Thank you. Listened to this in the family capri!

MoreCardassianThanKardashian · 10/10/2024 18:59

Is it available on DAB?

MyBestFriendKenny · 10/10/2024 18:59

Atlantic 252 is the reason Hold On by Wilson Phillips is engraved on my brain.

DrFoxtrot · 10/10/2024 19:35

Wow! Memories of sharing a room with my sister and doing my art homework listening to this station!

Impatientwino · 10/10/2024 19:38

I remember trying to record songs from this station even though I could never really get good reception! Loved it! I had loads of tapes with a mix of background noise, static and the sound of the play and record buttons being pressed at the same time followed by a scratchy song! Those were the days!

WaneyEdge · 10/10/2024 19:40

Ah, loved this! We were allowed the radio on in art lessons at school and that was the only station we could get. All the presenters had names like Holly Wood and Robin Banks!

DeliciousApples · 10/10/2024 20:04

God yeah, loved that station back in the day.

Winds of change yup loved it.

BathTangle · 10/10/2024 20:10

Oh gosh I was remembering this just last week! Memories of driving through Scotland in 1994 with my cousin and the only radio station we could get in his old school mini was Atlantic 252 with Cotton Eye Joe on loop!!

Heatherbell1978 · 10/10/2024 20:12

They placed Ace of Base and those guys with the beards? repeatedly...

They're justified and they're aaaaancient. Loved KLF, what a blast from the past!

TokyoSushi · 10/10/2024 20:19

Wow, I don't think I've thought about this for 20 years, brilliant, thanks!

honeyfox · 10/10/2024 20:21

Dusty Rhodes was another one!

FlyHalf · 10/10/2024 20:23

So weird! I was just reminiscing about this with friends the other day - for us, it was 'Dirty Cash' by the Adventures of Stevie V, and 'Male Stripper' by Man 2 Man Meets Man Parrish that was on perma-repeat.

Scutterbug · 10/10/2024 20:25

Oh I used to live Atlantic 252! Thank you for bringing it to my attention!

And they drive an ice cream van!!!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 10/10/2024 20:34

I remember the Divinyls 'I touch myself' playing a lot too. My sister and I used to sing it into pretend mics, no idea how suggestive it was.

MILLYmo0se · 10/10/2024 20:41

Rick Oshea is still around, runs a book club group on FB, reviews books, interviews authors etc too. His description of the studio makes me laugh, wasn't quite what I pictured back in the day!!

Thank you!
Never was I officially asked "What's the phrase that pays?" Very sad 😔

Allschoolsareartschools · 10/10/2024 20:45

Oh happy memories of listening to Atlantic 252 on the Ford Escort car radio. They did a drive time thing called 'drop everything (round your ankles!)' Remember them playing The Las & so many other early 90s classics. I'll definitely be listening.
