It's 3.30am. I've got terrible period pain keeping me awake. I'm also really heavy too and needing to change in the night.

I'm exhausted and just want to go to sleep.

I've had a stressful week re ex with court issues that thankfully seem to have resolved themselves favourably but I'm awake now with sinus pain.

I also can't stop thinking about Florida and am hoping the devastation and destruction is minimal when we eventually get up later on.

Hopefully after some good sleep.

I always find heat helps me- have you a hot water bottle? Hope you get back to keep soon x

👋🏻
Another awake one here!

Currently on holiday in Center Parcs. Bed is sooooo uncomfortable. It’s like sleeping on a trampoline! Urgh! Duvet awful too.
(Also v aware this is a first world problem)

Elleherd · 10/10/2024 03:41

Also awake through pain. Not unusual here. It is exhausting, and debilitating.
Also aware that so many others all over the world are going through so much right now. It's all relative.
Hope you get some sleep soon.

@halfpasteleven sorry to hear about your ex issues but good they are now sorted. Sinus pain is the worse, I feel you xx

The florid situation is just awful. All those poor people.

@maldivemoment I always wanted to take the DC to CP but it was always too expensive for us. Sorry to hear your not sleeping on your holiday.

I might put Friday Night Dinner on the iPad with headphones. DH asleep drunk next to me. I always fall asleep watching TV lol

Pregnancy insomnia, trapped wind, and a cold my toddler kindly shared. Been awake for an hour for absolutely no reason.

I'm so tired and I just want to sleep 💤💤💤

MoonPieHazySky · 10/10/2024 03:45

Sorry you’re in pain OP! Having to get up midway through the night is always annoying! X

HelterSkelter224 · 10/10/2024 03:46

Pregnancy insomnia, work stress and a mysterious dripping sound that I cannot find the source of all keeping me awake over here. 😭

maldivemoment · 10/10/2024 03:50

Sending positive vibes to you all. Hope the pain/colds/worry etc, eases for you all soon & we manage to get back to the land of nod.

If anyone looking for recommendations, I can heartily recommend the ‘Nothing Much Happens’ podcast. Gets me back to sleep every time.

Lostsadandconfused · 10/10/2024 03:57

You can always find an Aussie here in the middle of your night.

Period pain.. hot water bottle or heat pad if you have it. If not, my mother used to heat the iron and wrap it in a towel for me, years ago when I was a teenager.

Meditation podcast and headphones for the sleepless, I’m a terrible sleeper and it really does help me clear my mind.

Thats all I’ve got.. back to work 🏃‍♀️

GoAskAlicia · 10/10/2024 03:58

Hello yes up here too. Hope pain alleviates soon. Just trying to figure out when to budge, as need a train soon when they start running

FrauleinGreen · 10/10/2024 03:59

Up and ill with flu.Dreading work tomorrow. Been up since 1.30am too.

Mammma91 · 10/10/2024 04:07

I could’ve written this post last week OP! I hope you start to feel better soon. Do you have a hot water bottle? They are a godsend for period pain. I hope everyone awake with stress/illness gets some sleep soon. I’m up making a bottle for baby who’s been up loads during the night.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 10/10/2024 04:15

I'm always awake for 3 hours in the night. I know I'm gonna die young for this. So sick of it

BaronessMachiavelli · 10/10/2024 04:19

4am feed with reluctant 5 month old

Piemam · 10/10/2024 04:20

Like @whatcanthematterbe81 , I tend to wake for hours at a time. No idea why. If I was alone, I'd put rain sounds on to play me back to drifting off. So I am on here instead of stewing.

itsgettingweird · 10/10/2024 04:22

Sending positive vibes to you all.

I'm always up this time of day - my ds is a swimmer and trains at 5am 😩

whatcanthematterbe81 · 10/10/2024 04:22

@Piemam I've been thinking about seeing the doctor about it. I can't take tablets for it so not sure what they would do but this must be so unhealthy. Weirdly I'm fine during the day so my brain can handle it, I'm not even exhausted at night. But I'm so worried about the long term implications of it

No you won't die young - I'm 70 and a life-long bad sleeper, as was my mother when she died aged 92!

Takentomybed · 10/10/2024 04:25

Snap! I empathise 100% I need some ibuprofen but can't be bothered to get out of bed and go downstairs. Husband is snoring peacefully next to me. Ugh!

Zoraflora · 10/10/2024 04:26

Im awake since 3.30am, its a fairly regular peri menopause symptom along with the hot flushes that wake me up in the first place.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 10/10/2024 04:26

@Westfacing ah thank you for saying that. It's always one of the extra things I worry about during these few hours haha. The one benefit is that I had no issues with my babies being up in the night as it was the norm for me

soupmaker · 10/10/2024 04:26

I'm used to being awake at this time. It's a combination of menopause, snoring DH, too much late evening tea, and work stress. We have friends in Sarasota so the Florida weather also keeping me awake tonight.

WileyCyrus · 10/10/2024 04:28

Feeling really anxious lately and have been waking in the early hours ruminating over stuff I have zero control over. My rational brain knows it’s silly to worry about things I can’t change but I’ve been having bad anxiety dreams too, so awake or asleep, I’m not really catching a break.
There’s so much going on in the world and yet here I am worrying about my son not having lost any teeth yet 🙄

MargaretBetts · 10/10/2024 04:31

Me too @whatcanthematterbe81 .it’s grim. Then I get into a cycle of going to bed too early which just perpetuates it.

OP, I take naproxen for period pain, progesterone, tranexamic and mefanamic acid for heavy bleeding. I have a whole arsenal of pills. Have you been to the doctor and asked for a referral? You don’t have to suffer. If you’ve got ibruprofen and can take that it is more effective than paracetamol as it slows bleeding at the same time as reducing pain.

A pp has just said about listening to sounds instead of 'stewing' - that's how I handle it, in that I don't stew, just accept that I'm not a good sleeper. I'm retired now so don't have the worry about getting up to do a 12-hour shift on barely any sleep.

Other than being a bad sleeper I'm in fine fettle and eat well, exercise, socialise, etc., so am doing all the other things that are good for me!

I also found my babies very easy to deal with at night!
