Why are you awake?

I heard the phrase of doom about an hour ago... I feel sick 🤢

They're now dozing on the sofa, but I'm awake, in pain and wishing it was morning!

What's the phrase of doom?

I'm awake because it's just after midday here in Australia.

My 4 month old is burning up and poorly :(

Ketchupmunchies · 08/10/2024 02:28

I presume the phrase of doom is “I feel sick”…
I’m awake because I’m basically nocturnal - but I do have to be up at a fairly reasonable time tomorrow so should turn the light off!

Poor thing (both of you) - it is stressful when they’re teeny Sad

Me too. I think I have non-24-sleep-wake syndrome. I'm, well, still a little bit scared of the dark, sometimes. I usually keep a lamp or hall light on, and sleep with a sleep mask over my eyes, lol

EveryOtherNameTaken · 08/10/2024 02:32

Delightful menopause lack of sleep. Slept for 4 hours and then the inevitable full on wide awake. Will probs fall asleep again at about 4ish ....

What is phrase of doom?...

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 08/10/2024 02:36

Went for an abdominal and kidney ultra sound this afternoon my body is very slowly expelling the water I had to drink for the appointment.

Laurels34 · 08/10/2024 02:37

38 weeks pregnant and struggling to sleep/ terrified about looming c section next week! Convinced myself something bad will happen!

Hope there’s no sickness bugs coming your way OP x

How interesting- have just been reading about it… I don’t think that’s me - I started making a banana cake at quarter to midnight Confused so it wasn’t as if I was trying to go to sleep!
V good luck with the c section @Laurels34 - my BF had an elective section a fortnight ago and couldn’t believe how calm and smooth it was compared with the emergency one for DC1. Fingers crossed it will be the same for you…

Choux · 08/10/2024 02:45

Can't sleep as worrying about relatives who are on the west coast of Florida in a waterside property. Normally they don't evacuate for hurricanes but this is a big one. They told me yesterday they are leaving Tuesday morning. I think my brother would like to stay as they have a pretty strong house and he likes to be there to look after it. But my sister in law is pregnant so will hopefully tell him they are leaving. The storm surge is forecast as 10-15ft where they are so the bottom level of their house will flood but that's mainly garage and storage. They live on the first floor.

Same. One wake up every night. It's manageable. I'll make a drink, go to the loo, play candy crush then read and go back off. Alarm goes off 7.30am (one son aged 15 sees to himself and I WFH), so it's fine. I quite like the peace actually.

Well, it is always time for cake

UnhealthyCopingStrategies · 08/10/2024 02:49

Yes the phrase of doom was that they were feeling ill and they were indeed ill, so that's 2 days of plans a total write off.

Sorry to hear about poorly babies and regular insomniacs!

Is it your first baby @Laurels34 ?

Just a reassurance I had two planned sections and thought they were a lovely way to give birth and very safe, organised etc and recovered well. Best wishes to you and baby x

I woke up with a rough throat yesterday, stupidly ignored it and went for a (not too strenuous) swim. Afterwards I regretted it and had that 'concrete on every limb/joint' feeling. I've been gradually feeling worse and woke up sore so I took painkillers. I had a weird week last week, not sleeping very well (I know why) and maybe that contributed to getting ill.
Hope any ill folk feel better soon. 💐

UnhealthyCopingStrategies · 08/10/2024 02:51

Hope they are ok @Choux

I am always awake at night, insomnia, mild anxiety and general discomfort!

Namechangetotalkaboutmysleepingpillsproblem · 08/10/2024 02:51

@Laurels34 The scariest part for me was getting the anaesthetic in my back- and it was over fast. And then, it was just so easy, and over quickly. Congratulations on your new baby x

vixsta2001 · 08/10/2024 02:54

Because I read the full coroners report of how my brother was found and the condition of his body after not being discovered for some time due to heroin use. Words I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy!

Oh and Dh snoring like a drowning, One nostril pig beside me!! There may will be another coroners report to read soon if he doesn't shut the f**k up soon!!!

It's natural to be a bit scared about that. I had an elective, after a failed induction. The worst bit for me was getting the spinal anaesthetic, however it wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined. Obviously there can be pain afterwards but just follow doctors advice and I'm sure you'll be ok - it'll all be worth it. I found that breathing exercises helped me stay calm and get back to sleep if I woke worried. 💗

Up and unwell with a temperature, cough and feel like my chest will explode.

I had a horribly vivid dream about the end of the world. There were tigers running loose. I ended up driving a Sainsbury's branded Smart car!
