Hi,

So I have stupidly messed up with my car insurance. It's renewed and has been taken out of my bank in one go - £518. I have called them but they are not helpful and have explained that even if I cancel and refund, it could take up to 10 days!

This leaves me with £218 until next Thursday. I receive PIP as I am disabled and get this on Thursday 17th ( next week). This is £549. I also get about £150 from a sideline that I do - this will come in next Monday 14th. This means that I have a total of £917 to see me through until the 26th. I have 2 teen dc's a no partner. I will need to do at least 2 full food shops and also pay for fuel (35 per week). I am worrying that it's going to be very tight this month.

If it isn't a benefits goad (and I really think it is) it is absolutely tone deaf and quite offensive to the many posters on here who are genuinely struggling.

Positivenancy · 07/10/2024 19:24

Not saying I agree with the OP entirely but I suppose if you’re used to having more then it’s tough enough to have to live with less. I used to have enough money per month to save 1-1.5k and then another 1k to spend. Now I don’t…this month I have 712 right now until the 25th. That may seem like a lot but with food and fuel it will be used up. And then add in other unexpected expenses. Just saying…

Birdahoy · 07/10/2024 19:26

You’ll be fine.

Ripppples · 07/10/2024 19:31

2 x £150 food shops. Order it online if you struggle to keep track of how much you’re putting in the trolley.

Buy petrol as normal.

Should still have a good buffer for random other expenses. Tell teen DC anything non essential will have to wait a couple of weeks.

justasking111 · 07/10/2024 19:36

Gosh the car insurance is high.

Flossflower · 07/10/2024 19:41

I am another one that thinks this is untrue benefit bashing thread, especially given your user name.

CaptainBeanThief · 07/10/2024 19:44

I'm sorry that's plenty?
My husband has just changed jobs and we have had to last on 507 pound for 3 weeks on my pip.
We have a car to run, petrol, dog, 2 rabbits, food for us, a couple of hills.
We have HAD to manage. You just HAVE to

TheShellBeach · 07/10/2024 19:46

That’s literally loads 🙈. Is this real or designed to annoy people about PIP?

I think you've got it in one

You have nearly a grand to last 19 days? And this is a problem? Are you having a giraffe? 😆

16 days until the 26th. 15 if you allow for the money going in at midnight.

900/16 = £56.25 a day. £400 a week plus two days at £50 on average, in reality a little sensible until next Thursday then it'll be fine.

carly2803 · 07/10/2024 19:52

wow, most people live on less than 900 a month to pay for EVERYTHING!!

WOW.

PermerlerErndersern · 07/10/2024 19:56

Are you on crack op?

Oh yeah it’s just a wind up… as you were…

MrsPostmanPat · 07/10/2024 20:55

That's more than I have for food and petrol for a month. You'll be fine with that for 2 weeks. 🙄

Kinneddar · 08/10/2024 01:03

Oh look another goady OP where its a first post & the OP never comes back. What a shocker

Monday55 · 08/10/2024 22:15

Unless there's another big cost you've left out, I think you'll be OK with £900 for 2.5weeks.
