Best thing you have ever watched on YouTube.

If I’m having a “can’t find anything to watch” night I always default back to YouTube and 9/10 I find something obscure that I will then sit glued to for a couple of hours.

Old re-runs of crime watch, 1990 documentary’s, lifetime/true movies or American police interviews, I never know what going to pop up..

I wondered what’s the best diamond you have found on you tube that you have enjoyed, found interesting or been captivated by.

'Glamourdaze.com brings the past back to life. I take early fragments of silent 16fps footage and restore them to life by a combination of manual frame by frame colorization as well as the use of deep exemplar-based video colorization techniques. The footage is upscaled and the frames interpolated to a higher frame rate ( in most cases 60 frames per second.) Finally I produce a soundtrack which helps build a new immersive experience for the viewer. The intent is to create a time travel experience. Glamourdaze is also a vintage fashion blog with color restored vintage, plus modern retro beauty tutorials.'

Hands down MrBallen. I saw him come up in my YouTube feed and dismissed it until one day I looked out of curiosity and now I’m hooked! He’s a fantastic storyteller. Sister and father are Pulitzer Prize winners for investigative journalism so his shows are thoroughly researched and presented.

I re watch this one a lot. It’s a review of croissants in Paris during whatever riots they were having at the time.

Mr Ballen.

Looking for Mike - a documentary about man whose friend dies, then he finds out that 'Mike' was living under an assumed name, so he tries to find out why.

Matthew and Paul (and Mr Maple) Lovely married couple, Paul is blind and Matthew is forever pranking him eg he will rearrange the hallway when Paul is out, so he comes in to their apartment and thinks he has walked into the wrong one. I'm not normally a pranks fan but these two are just so sweet.

Bald Foodie guy.

There's tons of episodes of Pointless on there..

And Classic episodes of Time Team and there's even New Time Team digs supported by patreons.

I can be a bit of a sucker for true crime documentaries too, tons of them if you search them up.

Thank you so much for this, I had no idea it was still going! I used to love Time Team, it made Sunday evenings more bearable 🤣.

Big Jet TV - addictive
Unusual Things - the narrator visits the graves of famous people. V. well done and respectful.
Coffeehouse Crime
Leave everything and wander. A young Italian couple having travelled the world settle down in Northern Italy, and have just bought a smallholding in Sicily for the olives. Perfect Sunday night viewing.
Peter Santenello
That Chapter. True crime, well narrated with tinges of black humour.
Wolters World - travel. He is so animated.
Gabriel Traveller. He goes everywhere you can imagine on his own. Superb IMV.

The bat in the Irish kitchen.
First auditions for Paul Potts and Susan Boyle.
And another vote for “ the maple kind” dog, who I seem to recall died not long ago.

Just love it for how chaotic it is right from the introduction..Poor Patti..and her lack of background singers 🤣

I always recommend this documentary, The Lottery Liar. Unbelievable (but true!) story of a bloke who just claimed he’d won the lottery and how long he managed to keep it up before being caught. It is 😮

I've recently got into Roel Konijnendijk videos.

He's a professor of ancient warfare and he reviews battle scenes in film & tv. Spends a lot of time being exasperated at the lack of ditches. I find him very watchable.

Also love Mr Ballen, especially the cave diving stories.

Deathraystare · 16/12/2024 15:39

@Onand
Me too! (Re Soft White Underbelly). When I had a phone that could get you tube. My new one is very basic.

I also liked the guy that travelled around the poor places in USA like in Virginia. He is polite and asks questions without making it seen like poor porn. Sadly a lot of places have closed down and the youngsters all turned to drugs.

I also liked Mr Ballen's stories and paranormal stuff.

I am also a sucker for animal stuff like Barney the West coast Cockatoo who cries like a baby when his 'Daddy' isn't home. He has regular chats about going to a park, having cocktails etc etc. Another Cockatoo Mr Max is really funny. Goes mad when he has to go to the vet and gives his toy snoopy a right seeing too! Oh and Gizmo the grey parrot is great too. It took his owners a long time to train him as I don't think he had been treated properly but now he sings, jokes and is sometimes quite rude to his mum!

I also like Katie Putrik smells. I don't think it is up to date but nice to hear her perfume reviews. I remember her from the programme in UK called The Tube (a music programme).

Oh and there is an Icelander who talks about the language in Iceland/Denmark/Norway etc in a funny way. Oh and the two guys from Norway ??your way 2 Norway or something. They make me laugh And the guy who wears a blue haired wig to act like his wife and they have typical married people spats! Oh and nearly forgot the Greek/Italian. not sure guys Sooshi mango??? Dressing up as their mums and Dads. I fell about laughing when they were supervising their daughters/daughters in law cooking. One stood on a chair while one was stirring a pot and whenever the young girl moved away from a pot the mum/in law poured loads of salt in the pot!!

There's a brilliant documentary about an elderly lady who lives alone in the Russian wilderness... can't remember what it was called

xteac · 16/12/2024 15:51

Google 'singing faraday cages' on youtube.

I like old documentaries from 15/20 years ago. There's one about parents ( 3 episodes) who have children in the care system and it shows the involvement of social services and whether they go back to their families or end up being adopted. I'll find out what it's called and come back.
