Anyone successfully managed to have a vegetarian McPlant burger with normal cheese and mayo? I really want to try it but there’s no options with online order changes from vegan options. I don’t want to drive down and go in store if it’s not possible.

Is this for home delivery? If so, you could order without the cheese and mayo and add that at home.
I can see why in store they wouldn't offer it though, as the risk of it being mixed up with another order might be an issue. My dd orders it, not because she is vegan but because she has a dairy allergy. She has however ordered a big Mac without cheese, in order to add our own at home, but they put dairy cheese on it. She didn't realise it was there and ate a bit before getting the signs. Thankfully mild enough that an antihistamine helped, but still scary.

But, fewer and fewer places offer anything cheesy or creamy, now, because veganism has got so big. Vegetarians are expected/assumed to be happy with the vegan option.

They won't do it. You'll have to do what longtompot suggests.

You can ask for it without cheese, we do that all the time.

Guess my option is no cheese and mayo and to add it myself. Just annoying we can’t make this change as it would be easier.

In so many places the vegetarian menu is increasingly becoming a selection of vegan meals. The caption “Now Vegan Friendly” fills me with dread! I want cheese!

I'm veggie. To be honest I'm not sure I could tell the difference between the "normal cheese" when added to a veggie deluxe and the "vegan" cheese in the plant based. Neither have that much in common with cheese as it would be known in the outside world. Tastes good through.....

I've asked for this too and it was a no. I'm also really sad that Burger King only do fake meat as vegetarian options now. I miss the original bean burger, although the replacement bean burger was better than the fake meat.

McDonald's Vegetable Deluxe used to be a lot better than it is now too.

They should give the option to add/swap a plant burger to a Big Mac or something

I was pescatarian for a few years and hated that all vegetarian stuff was being blanketed in with vegan and gluten free, usually in one or two tasteless and dry choices. Because of illness i returned to eating meat, but all you vegetarians still have my support with this, it still irritates me that this is still ongoing. I tried a mc plant back then, same issue for me too!

i remember this story from a year or so ago, guy wanted cheese on his mcplant, was told no, asked to buy a cheeseburger minus the burger and bun, also told no in case he puts it on.

My local McDonald’s will put mayo on mine but refuse to do the cheese. Bizzare.

It's because the mayo is vegan too. They won't do the cheese in case the boxes gets mixed up and someone with a dairy allergy gets real cheese.

It's surprising how much thought it put into it! McDonald's is generally very good for people with allergies.

I used to work there and a man would come through every week and ask us to make his burger with his own gluten-free buns. We had to refuse because we couldn't guarantee cross contamination with the other buns and he would be furious every time. Would drive off shouting and swearing every single week.

Instore, they gave me the slice of cheese in a separate box and i had to put it on myself. Not worth the hassle

that’s terrible. I’ve never moaned about them not being able to do it, just stuck a slice on at home. Some people have no manners. Sorry that happened to you.

My nephew works at McDonalds and says as thd Mcplant is vegan and marketed as vegan, they can't add non vegan foods to it due to legalities.

If you're that bothered then add it at home or order something else with dairy cheese on it and swap it.

McDonald's apologised and said the staff had misinterpreted the guidance.

That lad acts like a total twat regularly on social media and was deliberately trying to cause an issue.

KFC used to do a veggie wrap, it was lovely!
Wonder if you could order the cheese separately? 🤔 Mayo could be messy though 😂

I think this might be doable through the McDonalds app, but not necessarily through other delivery apps. I recall getting a box with a slice of cheese in it, can’t remember how I ordered it

Well what a story I have! Ordered the mcplant with no cheese and I kid you not I got a chicken burger instead. I had to take it back, they were very apologetic, full refund etc. So turns out it not just about dairy allergies today it’s meat vs none meat 🤣😂🤣😂
