Flying from Dublin airport and ideally looking for somewhere within about 3 hours.

Two adults. Would like somewhere that’s easy to walk around, nice restaurants, bars, and sights.

Going for either three or four nights.

Not funny. Where have you already been?

I don’t think that’s a city.

Lisbon?

Insidelaurashead · 01/10/2024 14:17

Are you hoping for warmer weather, OP, or are you not that bothered?

I'd recommend Palma or Porto if you want some sun. If you're not fussed, Oslo is lovely or any of the Polish cities-especially Poznan, Gdansk, Wroclaw I can recommend

dizzydizzydizzy · 01/10/2024 14:17

Seville?

Pistachiochiochio · 01/10/2024 14:18

What's important to you - food, weather, culture, architecture, language?

I'd start by looking at flights from Dublin airport at the times you'd like to travel and see what looks convenient. Because there are dozens if not hundreds of lovely European cities that would be nice.

Isthisjustnormal · 01/10/2024 14:18

Rome? Porto?

Not funny. Where have you already been?

Vienna, Innsbruck, Geneva, Salzburg, Montreux, Munich, Berlin, Edinburgh, London, Budapest, Prague, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Copenhagen, Malmo.

Wouldn’t be against revisiting but drawing a blank for somewhere new.

Rome, Barcelona, Prague, Copenhagen, Lisbon. Any of them would give you a lovely mini-break.

Isthisjustnormal · 01/10/2024 14:21

If you haven’t done Rome and looks like you haven’t that would be very worth a visit. Late oct is a good time weather and tourist levels wise; absolutely loads to see but walkable; great food obv; very atmospheric.

ItTook9Years · 01/10/2024 14:21

Following with interest as looking for something similar for a solo trip in early Nov.

Unfortunately there aren’t many options from any of my local airports and I’d rather walk than give a penny to Ryanair. :-/

Isthisjustnormal · 01/10/2024 14:23

Or Cote d’azure: nice/cannes if you want a town

OnYourTogs · 01/10/2024 14:24

Malaga is really lovely

MiddleAgedDread · 01/10/2024 14:24

Glasgow or Liverpool if you aren't too fussed about the weather.

MoodEnhancer · 01/10/2024 14:25

Lovely list, OP, but no Italian cities! Florence would be my pick.

Skykidsspy · 01/10/2024 14:25

Bilbao for the food
Boston
nice
funchal
istanbul
valencia
malaga
toulouse
krakow

Davros · 01/10/2024 14:26

I agree with Rome

OnYourTogs · 01/10/2024 14:26

Milan is also surprisingly nice

catwithflowers · 01/10/2024 14:28

Seville or Malaga, both lovely with lots to see and do. And the weather should still be nice too.

Rebootnecessary · 01/10/2024 14:28

We have just returned from Palma. We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed it and it fits the 'easy to wander around, good bars/restaurants and sites to see' criteria.

Button28384738 · 01/10/2024 14:28

Granada or Seville

wwyd2021medicine · 01/10/2024 14:29

I really enjoyed Venice in November

Livinginaclock · 01/10/2024 14:30

London, food, parks, history, museums, theatre.
