Just that really, recently renovated and have a lovely large living room…. With just two sofas in currently! Have dining table in kitchen so don’t need that but unsure how else to fill the gaps. Is nice to have space but does need some filling!

Bookcases, sofa, TV stand, armchair and cupboard/dresser.

ETA and a couple of little tables

Devilsmommy · 28/09/2024 07:53

Sideboard, coffee table, bookcases, side table

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 28/09/2024 07:56

Bookcase, TV unit, coffee table, sideboard type thing, end table with plant on it.

greenleaveseverywhere · 28/09/2024 07:57

2 sofas, rug, coffee table, TV, indoor plant, mini chest of drawer next to other sofa, lamps

Chasingsquirrels · 28/09/2024 08:00

2 sofas facing each other and a chair along the short wall in front of patio doors but with enough space to go round (usually angled to the non-opening side in the nicer months for even better access).

Two 1mx1mx0.5m cabinets (one open bookcase, one with carved doors matching the coffee table) between the sofas along the long walls and the end of those walls. (Not visible in photo as either side of where I'm standing).

Coffee table in the middle.
TV console unit & small table to other side.

Family photos on the cabinets and usually flowers or plants (orchids atm).
Some pictures on the walls.
Fairy lights (stars) round both sets of double doors.

Ours is quite small. We have a sofa and matching chair. A TV unit. Some side tables. A foodstall and a drinks cabinet.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/09/2024 08:37

We have a sofa and chair and footstool, a tv unit, an Ercol armchair, a mid century sideboard and a cocktail cabinet. It's a big room and I like it quite empty, it's very spacious and tidy (the rest of the house is not)

K0OLA1D · 28/09/2024 08:43

Sofa, chair, desk and chair, vivarium, small side table, coffee table, big bookcase, medium bookcase, small bookcase, side unit with TV on. Lots of plants

ShiftySquirrel · 28/09/2024 08:47

We have quite a large living room, so sofas are away from the walls around the fire.

Two bookcases, TV unit, a leather armchair, a tub chair, two two-seater sofas, a chess table used as a side table, sideboard, and a nest of tables.

I'm not a fan of coffee tables because every spare surface gets things dumped on in my house (cheers DH 🙄), so if it was in the middle of the room that's what I'd be looking at!

SanMarzano · 28/09/2024 08:49

Sofa, 2 armchairs, nesting tables, upright piano, bookcase, blanket box. There’s a built in cupboard (houses the gas/electricity meters) that we have our tv on top of. Not really furniture but filling more floor space we also have a standing lamp and an exercise bike. If we had more space I think I’d get a big monstera plant.

SylvesterandTweetyPie · 28/09/2024 08:55

Going anticlockwise. Door to living room is at the corner of the L shape layout with a console table with a lamp and family photos etc . Beside that is a 3 seater sofa under the windows pulled slightly forward so the curtains have room to sit properly, the other corner has a large fake allium to take away the blank space (didn't want a piece of furniture in there to crowd it up). Going along that wall (painted a different colour to the remaining 3) opposite the door, is our large TV stand with our dogs cushion on the floor next to it on the other side ( this is where we put our Christmas tree each year so it's kept clear other than the dog cushion), coming back opposite the window and sofa is our fireplace (chimney breast is wallpapered) with a large rug in the centre of the room with a coffee table on it. Lastly back on the wall where the door is, we have a 2 seater sofa pulled forward level with the arm of the other sofa. All around the room walls are photos of our children and wedding day.

GameOfJones · 28/09/2024 08:56

We have quite a large living room.

3 seater sofa
Two seater sofa
Armchair by the fireplace
Sideboard with the TV on it
Two bookcases
Large rug
Another small cupboard unit with a lamp and a plant on it
Small side tables next to every seat as we don't have a coffee table (don't want one, I prefer the floor being clear).

I think you can't go wrong with lamps, plants and bookcases!

ladyvimes · 28/09/2024 08:59

3 sofas, a massive footstool, rug and two built in cupboards/bookcases oh and an electric piano! Is a big room and feels cosy but not overcrowded.

Natsku · 28/09/2024 09:00

In the living room side there's the dining table and chairs, sofa, footstool, coffee table, another coffee table that holds the TV, two vitrines and two non-glassed door cabinets. The other end of the room is the playroom end and has two sets of wall bars, a balance beam, a low cabinet, armchair, footstool, mini clothes rail and storage box for dressing up clothes and a hatstand for my son's many many hats. In between the two halves hang a trapeze and a swing. And for some reason a sort of ladder type thing built into the gap between the two halves - I don't understand why its there, was there when we bought the house, but its quite useful for hanging towels on Grin

Sofas x2, 2x cuddle chairs, 2 area rugs, tv on the wall, 2x side tables, 1 pouffe with storage, 5x furniture units (storing mostly toys!, also books, records, Knick knacks, and covered in ornaments, candles, picture frames) 1 x display/drinks cabinet. Big marble fireplace. 1x orchid. No coffee table due to Labrador, it would look better with a coffee table but DH will dump on it anyway or leave cups as he refuses to have things only ‘for show’. 1 x orthopaedic dog bed! placed in the best spot in the room, looking out over the trees/woods (we’re elevated). It’s two rooms knocked into one so it’s a large, bright living space.

DelilahBucket · 28/09/2024 09:05

L shaped sofa and armchair, long TV cabinet with storage, three end tables for drinks, they nest if we wanted to move them, two bookcases, a full size electric piano and we also have a dining area as part of the same room, although we tend to eat in the kitchen unless we have people over.
We like to keep most of the room clear of furniture so no coffee table in the middle.

pleatspleats · 28/09/2024 09:06

We have a very small living room, but somehow have fit in 1 sofa, a piano (not a grand one obviously!), 1 bookcase, 1 chest of drawers for storage, a cat tree and a dog bed.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 28/09/2024 09:06

@Natsku Two Vitrines! That sounds very grand!

bergamotvetiverthyme · 28/09/2024 09:10

2 sofas, 3 cinema chairs, bookcases either side of fire place, bureau, buffet, travelling trunk and TV

Homeplanning · 28/09/2024 09:12

I’m trying to picture what they all look like!!

For those with sideboards, what goes in them! Anyone care to describe / share a pic of a sideboard?

I haven't got a living room as such, but the most used, and largest, downstairs room is the study/library. It goes round a corner, so is a weird shape, with seven walls.
It has floor to ceiling bookshelves on all walls but the fireplace wall, a library stepladder, a large pedestal desk, four filing cabinets, two chesterfield sofas, a rocking chair and a large coffee table, made from railway sleepers. The coffee table is invaluable for entertaining, but a struggle to keep clear of stuff.

When my bloke's grandmother moved into a care home we were told we could pick some things from her apartment as it all needed to go. So I immediately picked the lovely wooden vitrines and cabinets - one of them has a locked door that when you unlock it falls down to serve as a table and behind it is a shelf with a mirrored wall behind. I figure it must have been for storing jewellery so you could lay it out on the 'table' and try it on in front of the mirror to choose what to wear.
Also picked some paintings and a music box.

shellyleppard · 28/09/2024 09:19

Two bookcase by the window, two leather armchairs, sideboard that double as a TV unit. Sofa bed, two kallax unit and a lamp

sunsetsandboardwalks · 28/09/2024 09:21

Built in storage/cupboards, coffee table, thee seater sofa with a long bit so you can lie down, dining table and two chairs, a little bookshelf thing for more storage and for me to use to put my coffee etc. on, a shoe rack thing and a cat tree in the corner too.

One of my vitrines holds the non-everyday cups and glasses (and my son for some reason stores his money in a teacup in there even though he has a piggy bank). The rest store framed pictures and knick knacks and decorative items, handicrafts works my daughter has made at school and a model Ghostbusters car that appeared one day but I'm pretty sure it doesn't belong to us.
