I want to watch a movie with my nearly 6yo son tonight. He is still paw patrol mad. Loves puppy dog pals. Is completely dog obsessed. Can you recommend me some good films he might like?

My son used to live these films when he was little

Beethoven is great and also all dogs go to heaven

Kokomjolk · 27/09/2024 14:50

Homeward Bound - though it is an emotional rollercoaster it does have a happy ending.

I’m still traumatised by seeing The Fox and the Hound 30 years ago. Do not recommend

ReadWithScepticism · 27/09/2024 14:52

Bolt!

Such a sweet film.

parietal · 27/09/2024 14:52

oddball and the penguins

benji

fantastic Mr fox (the dogs are bad but the fox is fantastic)

momager1 · 27/09/2024 14:53

hotel for dogs. We watch it often, even though we do not have children at home anymore, but it is our dogs favorite movie and they both sit and stare at the tv with the occasional bark, and lots of tail wagging lol.

Vettrianofan · 27/09/2024 14:54

Hooch!

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 27/09/2024 14:54

@wheretheheckissummer beat me to it, my DSS and then latterly my DD absolutely loved the Buddy series of films when they were little. In fact it's why our dog is called Buddy. Not necessarily the best films from an adult perspective but kids do seem to adore them.

Vettrianofan · 27/09/2024 14:54

Turner and Hooch.

Zephyry · 27/09/2024 14:55

Definitely homeward bound, my D's has loved it from that age

FloatyBoaty · 27/09/2024 14:56

Do not recommend Marley and Me. Watched it with my seven year old last year (didn’t know the ending). Absolutely terrible decision on my part.

Happyhouralways · 27/09/2024 14:56

Secret life of pets - I enjoy this as much as my kids

DancefloorAcrobatics · 27/09/2024 14:56

Hotel for Dogs
One of my DC'S all time favourite films!

DancefloorAcrobatics · 27/09/2024 14:57

Oh and The Lady & The Tramp
You can't go wrong with that!

Clearinguptheclutter · 27/09/2024 14:58

Beethoven

def NOT Marley and me if you’re 6!

Beezknees · 27/09/2024 15:01

Cats & Dogs!

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 27/09/2024 15:02

The Secret Life of Pets
Cats and Dogs - if you can face it, that is

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 27/09/2024 15:03

My eldest son loved all of the buddies films. They do themes so there's a Halloween one, a space one, a Christmas one. You get the gist.

Aussiegold · 27/09/2024 15:05

Digby!

I am very old and saw it at the cinema spoiler.....has a happy ending!

MissEsmeWatson · 27/09/2024 15:06

The Dog who saved Christmas is sweet and funny, and as above there's also Easter and I think summer.
