I want to watch a movie with my nearly 6yo son tonight. He is still paw patrol mad. Loves puppy dog pals. Is completely dog obsessed. Can you recommend me some good films he might like?

Oddball is all you need and it’s a true story, too.

cats and dogs (the spy ones, I think they’re pg but it came out when I was 6 and I watched it about the same time)

soccer dog (I loved that film, despite not liking football 😂)
Snow dogs (it is good and funny but it upset me for ages and I haven’t watched it since 😂 I can’t quite remember what upset me but probably the peril and the half freezing/getting lost in the frozen wilderness 😂)
pound puppies (there was a film, late 80s I think, though I watched it early 2000s)
Clifford the big red dog (I can’t remember if there was an older film, but the series was so good and the recent film I loved that as well 😂)
Beethoven (I have never seen because in my head it was very sad, so I refused to select it from the rental shop)

Marley and me (I read the book first and it was so good and funny but Jesus the ending, fuck I was sad 😂)
all dogs go to heaven (beautiful film but I cannot bear to watch it again as I just remember it being so sad, and the wee girl who voices the girl in the film, Judith barsi, her and her mother were murdered in a murder suicide by the father following severe abuse by him. She also voiced ducky in the land before time.)
Homeward bound (I have never seen because I knew it was really sad (though ends well) and I can’t deal with it)

I LOVED dogs film as a child (still do) but quite a number of them have made me a wee bit scared to watch more because too many times the dog dies or nearly dies. Sorry for the potentially stupidly long list with (most likely) unnecessary details 😂

I loved the buddies series of films. Though I was much too old for them at the time 😂 I was the right age for air bud but ‘aged out’ by the time the buddies ones were released

If he does then there is only one film on the list and believe me its an absolute classic dog film.

I dont think anyone has mentioned Marmaduke yet? Theres a film and a cartoon i think but ive only seen the film.

Theres also a pets of superheroes cartoon film with supermans dog. Cant recall title but it was quite good.
