I always wonder if anyone actually knows anyone who's had their phone ring for these radio competitions?
Make me a winner and the cash register give away huge amounts of money and whenever I enter I get so sad it's never me 😂

Amazing, congratulations! Did you enter for free? Also, I guess you had to wait at least 6 months before the second win, for the ban to end?

Yes both times were free entries on the website back then, I did the maximum amount of entries aswell.
Yes 6 months wait, I won 9 months after the first.
Still can’t believe it happened.

It's pretty amazing to win once, let alone twice in a row...

Joe won £512,000 yesterday. Next week's prize has gone up to £513,000. The call will be shortly after 5pm on Friday 13th December. You can enter for free 150 times by calling the usual numbers such as 0330 880 4557, & following the instructions. The radio announcement will be at about 5:45 (depending on which station you listen to). Good luck!

There's a new comp on New Year's eve, worth £525,000! The call is after 3pm this time (not 5pm) on Tuesday 31st. Usual method of entry & 150 free phonecalls allowed. Good luck & Happy Christmas!

Recently, I've also been entering some Smooth Radio competitions. Global only own 7 radio stations, compared to Bauer, (who run MMAW) and own over 150! So I'm guessing there would be less listeners to Global stations, and therefore less people entering. Their prizes tend to be a bit smaller than Bauer ones, but of course if you win one of them, you don't get banned from Bauer competitions. They offer a postal entry method which, while it's not free, it's a lot cheaper than texting (85p per stamp plus maybe 9p per postcard). The latest one is for a prize of £100,000, and the closing date for postal entries is the 25th of April! You can get details of how to enter from the Smooth Radio Win+ website: https://winplus.smoothradio.com/

No - it is a con. I have entered by phone at the maximum amount of times since 2023 and never won anything, both when it was daily 30k amounts and even at the higher weekly amounts. They even changed the phone entries so you could no longer skip the usual rambling before it would read out your phone number and even now they have made it read out your number even slower to discourage you from entering for free. If they don't want you to enter for free, don't have the option to - it's not hard. I've even paid for entries and I've never heard anyone win the bigger amounts, like you see people winning 50k but when the prize pot is over 500k and it goes up 1k each week, no way can they afford a whole new 500k each week, it must be a rollover and conveniently nobody ever answers despite entering. I'm there religiously by my phone every Friday between 5pm and 5.15pm and nothing. Fake. Fake. Fake. Don't fall for it.

So when you hear a recording of a winner answering the phone do you think it's an actor?

There's another weekly competition which started yesterday, for £300,000 and you can enter 100 times for free by calling the usual numbers. It takes a little while, but it's worth it IMO! The phonecall will be after 5pm on Friday 18th October. After that, I assume they will go back to the regular daily MMAW competition, but who knows?

I actually won the £300K 🥰

My MIL has won a couple of sets of concert tickets for pretty high profile artists on local radio stations in her state.

Back when they used to give them away to “caller number 9” or whatever number. She’d have my DH, both of his sisters, her sister and herself all calling in on separate phones in the hope one of them would be caller number 9 😂 Worked a few times!

Defo not an actor, I know because I won. I got the call on a Friday at around 1710hrs. Gemma Arderton asked me my name, told me I’d won and we had a bit of a chat. We then edited it slightly (I had to repeat my name without my surname). The edited conversation was the one they played on the radio. About 5mins later I got a call from the producer. I had to send photographic ID & proof of address & a selfie. I sent images of my driving licence & mortgage statement. Money was in the bank around 1745hrs. They listed my selfie on their website. When I entered you were allowed a maximum of 150 entries, it’s now up to 350. I was not allowed to enter any Bauer comps for 6 months after the win. With the money I paid off all my debts, opened ISAs for myself & hubby. We had only just remortgaged and we’d be heavily penalised if cleared the mortgage, so we paid off 10%. We gave generously to our children, have had a few holidays. We now have disposable income which is amazing. We intended to extend our home, but we’re going to move now. Check your phone contract; the 150 calls were included in my contract so didn’t cost anything extra. A colleague of mine has a friend who also won a few years ago. Give it go! You’ve just as much chance as anyone else.

FoxyLoxyy · 14/07/2025 00:23

Many years ago my friend won a competition which was a two week holiday to Florida. To win, he had to complete the sentence ‘I want to win the all star holiday for 4 to Florida because …’

his winning entry?

’…we live in Leeds’ 🤣

YerAWizardHarry · 14/07/2025 00:29

I know of two people who got the cash register call. One didn’t know the amount (was around £50K) so didn’t win and one won the money just before their wedding which was obviously a big help! Also had a work colleague win £20K recently on one of those raffle Facebook pages.

Back in the 80s my dad won 2 tickets on Capital to see Michael Jackson at Wembley, for me and my brother. It was before he got really weird, and all the stories came out about him - it was an amazing concert!

Largent80 · 07/10/2025 11:36

I'd have thought the more relevant question is has anyone won by using the free phone line option? 🤔

Largent80 · 08/10/2025 23:56

I strongly suspect that the people that manage the Bauer competitions are the same people who were embroiled in the ITV competition scandal, a good few years back. Going on where they are based. Free entries were going in the bin with the ITV competition

I won using the free phone method. When I won 150 was the maximum amount of entries. I completed all 150 & got a call just after 5pm. It was amazing. It came at a time when we really needed it.

My df bought a big house with his Pools winnings... Just him and his dw rattling round in it since we were all dumped...

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 09/10/2025 22:05

Not me but DH. He won an all expenses paid trip to the US for two, to see the Superbowl. It was in New Orleans ( before Katrina) and was a much needed break after a really awful year.

PoppySaidYesIKnow · 09/10/2025 22:07

I won four tickets to Alton Towers, and also two tickets to a JLS concert, both on our local radio station!

Eyesopenwideawake · 09/10/2025 22:12

Not recently but when I lived in Dublin I won two separate holidays and €7000 in cash in radio competitions.

I answered “Heart Splash the Cash” to a police officer who wanted me to give a statement for something I’d witnessed once.
