I mix and match shop bought containers with tableware. I have assembled a lot of mismatching saucers from various giveaways/clearouts and I just cover everything with with a saucer, as another user suggested, too. That way you get the most out of your belongings, because you can use them one day as a lid to something and another day as a plate on the table; same goes for small porcelain or glass bowls.
Otherwise I also have a lot of plastic containers for freezing and taking packed for the day, which can equally be used for this.
I agree on the super flimsy lids for yoghurts, though, they often puncture too fast.
That people are too squeamish / particular to eat anything opened and decanted or without original wrapper shows that there is a surplus of food in many households anyways (ND aside).
The move away from extreme plastic packaging should have happened decades ago; I can't believe it took so long. Google pictures of the garbage islands floating in the sea or where the "exported" plastic lands on landfills in poorer countries and people live in houses built on these "mountains".
You might use extra water on washing up a few more pieces, but there is (clean) water and energy saved in not producing these things in the first place and later not poisoning the land and sea in landfills.
