DH and I going to watch a film tonight, but don’t know what to watch!
what’s a great film I might not have seen?
I don’t like Game of Thrones type stuff.
I loved the Fall Guy.
I love old films.
Any suggestions?

The Admirable Crichton (1957, people shipwrecked on a desert island)

Local Hero (1983, comedy drama set in Scotland - you will recognise the brilliant soundtrack by Mark Knopfler)

The Dish (2000, the Moon Landing from an Australian perspective)

Love The Admirable Creighton!
Will look up the other two, thanks.
You can buy anything!

Think I’ve seen nearly all those Dann, thanks though.
I’ll maybe stick with more recent films.
And I hate gruesome violence.

IPlayer has got a bunch of classic movies but I can't find how to see them all together. I'm sure there used to be a separate category for them. They've got a bunch of Fred Astaire movies, and loads of film noir. You could do a lot worse than starting at A in their a-z listing, scrolling down and stopping when you get to The Big Sleep - or carry on to Bringing Up Baby depending on your mood.

Bullet train with Brad Pitt is very good. Sounds v. boring as all on a train, but funny and fast moving.

Victor / Victoria

Darklane · 21/09/2024 18:55

Three Men in a Boat, the old one with David Tomlinson, Jimmy Edwards & Laurence Hardy.
Any Bette Davis’s films, especially Now Voyager & Dark Victory.
