Good Morning from the train to Durham! We're up & out so early to head to the uni open day & explore the city - any suggestions? Just a bit knackered after getting in from a gig at gone midnight 💤 & we've booked the 7pm train home.

Both kittens are up, breakfasted, & causing havoc at home 🤣

Dd2's not fussed about doing anything today so will probably have a home day with her dad & finish her homework.

What about all of you? 🙂

Enjoying silence and a coffee with me and the dog. Some admin bits to do while everyone sleeps and then out to dinner with my sister. Lovely day planned. Only wish I
could have slept past 7am!

Neverhurt · 21/09/2024 08:26

Good luck with the university day!

itsallbowlsbaby · 21/09/2024 08:27

DS gymnastics is cancelled due to flooding so it's a family trip to IKEA for us today! DS wants a new desk for his room. Joy!!!

Rumforme · 21/09/2024 08:27

Oo sounds good, I've never been to Durham before! What gig did you go to last night? I'm back in bed having a coffee with some pumpkin spiced syrup in that I bought yesterday in tk maxx. Dh is playing hogwarts legacy downstairs with the dc. We're all heading to a national trust place for a wander later.

Rowgtfc72 · 21/09/2024 08:28

Morning
Durham cathedrals nice. All I can remember from my long ago visit.
Have a great time anyway.

Me and dh are waking up in a premier inn in Harpole, Northants. Planning to visit Waddesdon today. We're up for the touring cars at Silverstone tomorrow. Weather tomorrow is forecast horrific looking thunderstorms. Premier inn is OK but none of the tvs work. We've had to chat😱

shrumps · 21/09/2024 08:32

In bed with a coffee while DH watches some rugby match playing somewhere on tv, both older teen DSs fast asleep. Gym this morning followed by coffee with a friend and then clearing out what’s left of the vegetable bed and a dog walk later, then tandoori lamb chops for dinner. A lovely quiet Saturday planned.

MontyVerdi · 21/09/2024 08:34

Husband and kids out, dear dog nestled at my feet. Have cleaning schedule planned for today which is something I enjoy. Am on annual leave so long weekend.

Lovelysummerdays · 21/09/2024 08:54

Kids activities, trying to decide whether to work today (probably should) so possibly put in 4-5 hours then the house to clean tomorrow and all the weekend organisational stuff to do. School has decided to set presentation homework. Dc twins aged 9 can do a PowerPoint or a poster and they would like, for me, to do a PowerPoint. I think I might lose the will to live if I do so will find a hobby store and some art supplies and let them go wild. One of them wants to do the midnight zone so I wonder if a big poster painted black and then you have to shine a light to see the information would be cool?

Substitutiarylocomotion · 21/09/2024 08:57

Morning! Happy Saturday to you!

My children (6+3) have entertained themselves with minimal supervision allowing me to have a coffee in bed and read my book. They even poured themselves cereal so avoided the hangry fallout of a lie in. Bliss!

Now off to deal with the absolute chaos two small children can create in 2 hours 😂

DilemmaDelilah · 21/09/2024 08:57

Good morning @lucysmam . You are certainly up and about early today! I imagine you will be totally knackered by the time you get home tonight. I hope you have a lovely day today.

I was awake for several hours in the middle of the night so I'm tired now. My DH brought me breakfast in bed as usual and I'm considering putting my audio book on and going back to sleep. I'm listening to the last in the Chronicles of St Mary series by Jodi Taylor at the moment, then I will move on to the Time Police books. I've heard them all before but still love them.

I haven't got anything planned for this weekend. We will probably go to Lidl later on today, or perhaps tomorrow. There is some laundry to do, and I may get around to sorting out some of the home filing. We have box files for the important paperwork and, since we have just changed our car, I need to go through the car file and throw away all the old stuff.

I have also started a 'Death Book', with all the important information, instructions etc. for when I die. It's likely to be in the next 5 years so I might as well do it while I'm still able to - it will make things so very much easier for those I leave behind. And I'm such a control-freak (autistic) that it helps knowing that I have given explicit instructions for doing things when I'm gone! 😁 I might fill in a bit more of that.

We made more flapjacks to put in the box on our doorstep for our delivery drivers/postmen yesterday, so those will need to be wrapped and bagged later on as well.

So - nothing exciting planned for today.

lucysmam · 21/09/2024 09:00

@Rumforme Los Campesinos! at Foundry in Sheffield. Dd wanted to see them last year but I wasn't well enough so we missed out 😥 tbh, I wasn't that fussed about them but really enjoyed them live!

We've never been to Durham either - looking forward to exploring. Shame we couldn't afford to stay overnight this time but we can go back if she's keen.

@Rowgtfc72 yes, we were going to have a wander to the cathedral.

@MontyVerdi what does your cleaning schedule look like? My house needs some attention!

Morning @lucysmam and all I haven't joined in with these for a few weeks dont know why! Have a great time in Durham I've never been but heard the uni is good.

I was awake at 6.30 really thirsty so had a drink, got a wash on and was wide awake so got in bed with my book. I must have fallen asleep as was woken by DC climbing into our bed at 8.30.

Downstairs now with little one, other DC still asleep. I'm meal planning for next week we are trying hello fresh so it's only a few meals to plan for as hello fresh taking care of the other nights.

This morning will be the usual uniform wash and hopefully on the line its meant to be sunny today. This afternoon we are off to a national trust place for a bit of a walk. Curry for tea then wine and TV with DH once children asleep.

MargaretThursday · 21/09/2024 09:06

Enjoy it! DD went to Durham. She loved it, but it is a long way!

I'm going to get up shortly and do some gardening. My back doesn't like gardening so I do it a bit at a time. I did one side of the garden path last weekend so the other side this weekend.

fuzzybritches · 21/09/2024 09:07

Just having a coffee and watching CBeebies with the toddler at the moment. Dh has gone to walk the dogs. We've not been very well this week so it's nice to have a slower morning.
Later we will go watch ds football match and probably have a late brunch while we're out.
This afternoon we're going to a country park as there's a food festival happening.
Once we get home it'll be pjs, Strictly and chill. Probably a takeaway and a few glasses of wine too. Happy Saturday!

lucysmam · 21/09/2024 09:11

@MargaretThursday it's about an hour & 20 mins on the train from us, so not too bad. I tidy my garden using the same method as you - my back's fine but the gardening bores me.

@fuzzybritches food festival sounds right up my street! Enjoy 😋

Just finishing up my first coffee in bed with the radio on. We’ve both been ill this week so it will be a quiet weekend - hoping to get on with some knitting and reading my book. Might do a home workout later if I’m feeling up to it, as I’ve not been to the gym at all this week.

Was meant to be out this evening for a friend’s birthday but don’t want to pass on the lurgy so think we’ll pull something easy out of the freezer and have a night in front of the tv instead!

MontyVerdi · 21/09/2024 09:16

@lucysmam I've tried Organised Mum but now trying Clean Mama which is American but more emphasis on a little cleaning every day with monthly emphasis on deep clean. She does a lot of free printable checklists.

At the moment I've a wash on and am washing all the throws and cushion covers. I think Saturday is clean sheet and towel day in Clean Mama system which suits me down to the ground.

Trouble is the garden needs doing and the garage needs clearing too.

Enjoy Durham - hope the Uni puts on an excellent welcome

CoffeandTiaMaria · 21/09/2024 09:16

Good morning, it’s tipping down here in north Wiltshire, the dog’s bladder must be bursting but she’s asleep on the sofa. She hates thunderstorms so I am hoping we miss them today.
So far I have cleaned the bathroom, toilet and kitchen, put the dw on, sorted out my bedroom and am about to pick out some bits to do a slow stitch thingy.
DH has said he’ll walk the dog at some point, he’s vacuuming upstairs at the moment because I simply can’t manage it at the moment.
I need to sort out what we’re eating today, there’s cooked chicken in the fridge, might do jacket potatoes with coronation chicken and salad?
I need to look for the oximetry thingy that I bought during lockdown, heaven knows where it is 🙄, I’m fed up with being breathless 🤬
I hope you have a lovely day in Durham @lucysmam , we stayed there for the night some years ago and loved the cathedral and river walk.

MontyVerdi · 21/09/2024 09:17

Ah okay I'm using that gardening hack! Tailor made for the menopausal.

Whattheduck · 21/09/2024 09:26

Morning
Just having my 1st coffee whilst watching Eastenders.Going to pop to Sainsburys then going to my Mums for bacon cobs.
Dd started uni this week so I’m slowly sorting out her bedroom and getting it ready for when she visits next weekend for my brothers birthday.
Dh is still in bed it’s his birthday today we went for a curry last night as today he’s going to see his Mum and then meet up with some friends to go on a bike ride.
Will have jacket potatoes later and watch strictly.
Enjoy your day everyone

UserNameOfShame · 21/09/2024 09:27

Morning. Just chilling with a brew at the moment while the DC run around like loons. For some reason we were just watching YouTube videos of people playing real life quiddich (dh had fallen down some rabbit hole) and it's set the DC off.

I'm getting my hair cut in a bit, then off to lunch with a dear friend which from previous experience will inevitably turn into far too many drinks and me stumbling through the door at 2am (don't judge, this isn't a frequent occurance)

Cheekymonkye · 21/09/2024 09:29

Morning!

husband is out all day at work - left about 6 this morning.

ds is currently on his paper round, then goes straight to his maths tutor- he’ll be back about 12 then will probably Xbox for the rest of the day - but I’m just going to leave him too it today as he has a busy day tomorrow

dd is off to work at 12 , she washes up in a pub for 6 hours on a Saturday, I think she wanted me to help her with an online learning something for her college course before she goes .

so I have most of the day in a silent house !

I peeled the potatoes for a cottage pie last night , so I’m going to make that and a lasagna for tomorrow.

I do have jobs to do but I bet I don’t get on with them 🤣

deffo want to wash my bedding, put away the two loads of clean washing currently chilling on the stairs, clean the gpig out and vacuum the downstairs

then I need to work out next weeks food plan - as always far too much month left at the end of my money . I just need to find what I can in the cupboards for meals ect and make a list to see what we can make / what we definitely need how we can stretch out bits and set an alarm for the olio app is always a good idea as well !

EsmeeMerlin · 21/09/2024 09:32

Ds1 was dropped off this morning at 8 for the 11+. I have to take ds2 to pick him up in 2 hours. I have been getting on with some housework while ds2 plays. DH has just left for work. After I have picked ds1 up we are going out for lunch and I'll let him and ds2 pick up a treat each. Strictly tonight.

PermanentTemporary · 21/09/2024 09:35

Morning all! Good luck in Durham lucysmam, hope you have a great day.

Having a bath and luxuriating in a quiet day, we're on holiday this week and will be at home doing nice things. Ds has gone to parkrun and dp is pottering and tidying. We're planning to play Prime Minister and wait for the plumber to visit, we're hoping to have our heating overhauled.
