If you’ve got Covid right now what are your symptoms?

Notnowbarnaby · 19/09/2024 08:39

Got a horrific virus, very fluey feeling with horrible headache, really uncomfortable body aches specifically leg and back, high fever which is very unusual for me and DH.
im going to try to get some tests later out of curiosity, I guess to be sure its not actually flu (DH can’t get out of bed without getting dizzy and having to lie back down again).

last time I had Covid it was very chesty and this is very different

Yes I am ill with something, not sure what it is but I am really achy, lethargic, had an upset stomach initially but that seems ok now, stayed in bed most of yesterday but I am up today, although just to sofa! I haven't done my temperature but I keep feeling really hot. I have been coughing more last night and today. I feel awful.

HornyHornersPinger · 19/09/2024 10:33

When I had it a few weeks ago I had a couple of days of awful burning body aches and feeling feverish. Absolutely no chest or cold-like symptoms which I did have the 1st time I got it in 2022.

HornyHornersPinger · 19/09/2024 10:35

It is definitely not the same illness it was a couple of years ago.

I definitely have covid. This is my first time.

I tested positive on Friday 13th, and every day since. I'm immune-suppressed so need to keep an eye on this closely, so I can make decisions about my treatment(s).

I don't feel too bad, really - tired, achey, mild cough, headache. Blowing a bit hot and cold, but nothing major. Somewhat suppressed appetite. Certainly not enough to need or want antivirals and antibiotics; but I'm postponing my TNF blocker injection.

Having said that, I've previously had 7 (seven) covid jabs. The last one was 10 months ago. I assume that they have helped me avoid worse symptoms. <Touch wood>

AutumnCrow · 19/09/2024 10:50

Think l caught on a plane last week coming home.

Same, @PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance - I had to go to my home country on family business which unfortunately involved a train/plane journey.

I had covid last year and it just felt like flu, no coughing at all. I had muscle aches, fever, nausea, exhaustion, headache

My mother had it earlier this month though and did have a terrible cough along with above symptoms- so the strain that's going around now is probably causing more chesty symptoms

BlackStarryNight · 19/09/2024 11:16

started feeling slightly nauseous, then very blocked feeling face/sinuses, some coughing/sneezing/runny nose but thats a bit intermittent, generally very achey body and feeling exhausted.

DH just had the same a few days before but also had awful fever, he had a positive test, I’ve not bothered as I clearly got it from him.

I also had suspected covid a couple of months ago with the same symptoms. Tested negative then but had been in close proximity to a friend that was positive and similar symptoms.

very different to the first time I got Covid in 2022, that was sore throat/cough and lots of weird dizziness

frozendaisy · 19/09/2024 11:33

Both me and H had COVID a couple of weeks ago, we tested, H was much worse, felt dizzy WFH on computer screen, tired, sore throat. I was a bit sluggish but nothing a couple of paracetamol didn't sort out. Teens caught it, you wouldn't have known, one slight cough in morning afterwards, but they have asthma inhalers.

So very different reactions.

Only way to know is to test.

DamnNutella · 19/09/2024 16:33

I don’t know what I have but very similar symptoms to many here. Started with an awful headache that just wouldn’t budge on Friday 13/09, Monday started with an extremely painful sore throat, hurt to swallow and eyes watering constantly. Now have cough, sneezing, streaming nose like never before (literally dripping clear liquid!!) body aches, exhaustion and pain in neck lymph nodes.
I’m fed up!

AutumnCrow · 19/09/2024 16:34

Yeah, the headache's a real bummer.

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 19/09/2024 16:38

I had covid last week. Started with a sore throat, followed by runny nose, then bunged up, then fever and chills then muscle aches and stiff neck. Now have a lingering tickley cough. Didn't have a headache though thankfully.

Gecko85 · 19/09/2024 16:47

I have Covid at the moment and feel terrible, with every symptom under the sun. Lots of congestion, sinus pressure, headache, sore throat, fever, sneezing, runny nose, backache, exhaustion, chest pain, mild upset stomach and insomnia. As of today, I can add dizziness and brain fog to the list. Can't wait to feel better.

MEgirl · 19/09/2024 16:53

Two of my kids had it last week. Started with feeling like a heavy cold. Followed by high temps and body aches. No coughs at all. DD's test showed an immediate very strong positive. DS's only marginally slower and less reactive. I think they caught it in two separate places as DD was already sick when DS came home for a visit. He doesn't live here Neither myself or other DS who does live here caught it . In fact, I count myself extremely lucky for never having had Covid. Fingers crossed I never do.

HazeyjaneIII · 19/09/2024 16:53

Tested positive earlier in the week.
(Fifth fucking time)
Loads of snot
Very sore throat
Headache
Temperature
Horrendous diarrhoea
Hurty eyes
Knackered
....it's been real fun

MumonabikeE5 · 19/09/2024 16:54

earlier this month: huge exhaustion was first symptom, huge exhaustion .

sneezed a bit on3rd day.

4th day thought Id test.

but really only because I wondered how I could feel so tired, and saw that some people I’d been with had tested positive.

very strong test reaction .

took ten days before I felt less tired.

but I had barely any flu/cold symptoms

Itsforthebest · 19/09/2024 16:54

I had the same symptoms a couple of months ago plus nausea, I barely ate for a week. It took 11 days to get a negative test and 3 weeks to recover properly. I've never had it before. For me it was basically full-blown flu.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 19/09/2024 17:01

I had covid last week it started with the worst headache that just would not shift no matter what I did. Then I had body chills and felt cold to the bone and so lethargic. I had 3 days of everything hurting, even blinking and moving my eyes hurt then I felt better. And started coughing.
I only tested as DP was hospitalised the first time he had it.
He ended up with it too but his symptoms were headache, tiredness and a hacking cough right from the start

LadyMary50 · 19/09/2024 17:04

Yes,had an achy back while on holiday in Wales last week, woke up last Friday with terrible headache and sore throat.DH was worse and we had to travel home that day.Ive since had runny nose, cough, blocked sinuses and terrible exhaustion.I did a test last Friday night which was positive, did another one yesterday still very positive I’ve have had covid twice before but never felt this ill before. My DH is still dizzy also.I’m a bit fed up because I wasn’t old enough for the spring booster I’m 73 and you had to be 75 or older. This does feel more like full on flu😒

Wellfuckmesideways · 19/09/2024 17:09

Anyone know what the incubation period is for this new strain?

Windthebloodybobbinup · 19/09/2024 17:27

I've had it this week- fever, upset stomach, lethargy, aches and pains, runny nose, really sore throat.
Bad for 2 days, slowly getting better.

TheStroppyFeminist · 19/09/2024 17:28

I've had a terrible headache all week and have been sleeping badly but not many other symptoms although I've been coughing a bit. I tested yesterday and was negative but tested again today and it's positive. I am really hoping I'm at the end of it, but I remember that one of the things about Covid is you keep thinking you're better and you're not. Dh has been in bed since Sunday with it and has been feeling terrible.

MysteriousUsername · 19/09/2024 19:17

I started on Saturday night with a sore throat. Still sore on Sunday, and was a bit tired and achy.

On Monday the snots arrived, so much snot, also the cough. And I was freezing, then boiling, then freezing etc. My eyes have also been really watery, so I can't wear my glasses.

I feel hungry, but when I eat I feel nauseous. Headache, worse in the evenings.

Such fun!

I've been slightly less snotty today, so I hope I'm on the way to recovery.

2 of my kids are complaining of sore throat today. 😷

Redbrook · 19/09/2024 19:27

I had it a couple of weeks ago on holiday -slight fever, very runny nose and horrid taste in my mouth for 2-3 days. DH who is massively immune suppressed didn’t get it at all ! And he definitely wasn’t asymptomatic because he’s diabetic (amongst his many other issues) and his blood sugar remained completely normal. This is always the first indication if he gets any infection.
But we’d both paid for boosters 4 weeks earlier and I can only presume this helped both of us.

DamnNutella · 19/09/2024 19:43

Sounds like we all have very similar symptoms. My appetite was only affected for one day, I have been eating a lot which always happens when I’m sick and I always gain weight when I’m sick, totally opposite to many people. Unless of course it’s food poisoning which I’ve had once in my life. Thankfully I don’t get stomach bugs
