If you’ve got Covid right now what are your symptoms?

Got a horrific virus, very fluey feeling with horrible headache, really uncomfortable body aches specifically leg and back, high fever which is very unusual for me and DH.
im going to try to get some tests later out of curiosity, I guess to be sure its not actually flu (DH can’t get out of bed without getting dizzy and having to lie back down again).

last time I had Covid it was very chesty and this is very different

Like PP Started with a sore throat, followed by runny nose, hot and chills then muscle aches. Heartburn. Headache top and back of head. Ain't in toes and hands. No diarrhoea though. Left with brain fog dizziness and a rash over arms

Arkenwold · 19/09/2024 19:53

I started feeling ill on Tuesday. I felt and feel AWFUL. I knew it was more than a cold. I tested yesterday and it came up as covid. I have every single symptom on the NHS website! Except (for now anyway) the breathlessness. It is so much worse than the last time I had it. I’ve never felt so ill.

PositiveLife · 19/09/2024 19:58

No idea if it's COVID but DD and me have both had a horrendous headache (no painkillers touched it) at both sides of head that also made us really dizzy. She's had sore throat too.

I tested out of curiosity and the test line came up so fast way before the control line was even slightly visible. DH too.
so that explains that then! I’m really hoping I don’t get a cough with it, I’ve only just recovered from a bloody four week cough that I thought might have been Covid at the time. Now I’ve actually got Covid and am this unwell I can see that it wasn’t the case.
think we must have the new strain it does feel much more flu like than before

Just had it. Only knew as my mum caught it and ended up in hospital with it, where they tested for it. I just started coughing, then felt cold and tired. Went into a snotty cold with hot and cold shivery fever.Lasted 48 hours and then I felt better, if a bit wiped out. Then my husband went down with it for 48 hours.

Jingleballs2 · 19/09/2024 22:18

Had it last week. Started with a sore throat, freezing cold by bedtime. Woke up and was sweating hot all day, headache, body aches, could sleep all day.. more sweats, sneezing and stuffy nose started. More tiredness and sweats basically. Pretty grim.

Oh I also had nausea and heartburn on the first day! As has everyone else I know with it.. weird

Notnowbarnaby · 20/09/2024 03:51

The nausea is horrible. Just woke up feeling feverish and I took me an hour to get downstairs to get ibuprofen. This is day two so I’m hoping it doesn’t drag on too long :(
The body aches and headache are also extremely unpleasant

In terms of timings, DP and I think we were exposed to it travelling on Sunday night (8th Sept) (trains, planes and automobiles ...). We got back on Friday night (13th Sept), and I tested out of curiosity and was immediately, brightly positive, like you @Notnowbarnaby!

I've been strongly positive every day since, and been feeling gradually grottier.

Yesterday I started feeling horribly bloated, like my digestive system is packing in. I stopped trying to eat, and it's a tiny bit better today - but I can't not eat indefinitely. I've already got disordered eating from having an auto-immune disease & all the treatments for that. BIG SIGH.

Notnowbarnaby · 23/09/2024 23:38

well I'm still testing positive, I'm on day six. Have shifted the fever and headache but now have a horrible tickly cough - how long does it last does anyone know? Sometimes it feels like it's slightly sticky and almost bringing gunk up but nothing ever comes up! Infuriating. It's worse at night unfortunately.

I Started 19 days ago with pounding head, aching kidneys and swollen glands and eyes.

Then temp of 40.6, fever, off food for 6 days, slept almost continuously for 6 days, lost 3 kg. Then aching hips and long bones.

Now, I'm feeling better but have a hacking cough. I didn't lose my sense of taste or smell.

Ds caught it after me and had classic head cold symptoms for a week, then went back to school.

At least our antibodies are topped up now.😷

Notnowbarnaby · 24/09/2024 00:17

Has anything helped with your cough @Meadowfinch ? Is it kind of dry and tickly?

OP posts:
HazeyjaneIII · 24/09/2024 08:35

I have found antihistamines have helped with the cough.
Unfortunately mine turned into a chest infection and caused an asthma flare up, so I'm on antibiotics and steroids.
Bloody Covid

Nottodaty · 24/09/2024 09:04

I’ve no idea if I have covid! But whatever bug this is it’s knocked me on my behind!

Started with a sore throat and sniffles
First time I’ve lost my sense of smell and taste (covid twice before never lost it)
High temp/fever - really struggled with it on Sunday. Even with paracetamol and ibuprofen didn’t go down to below 38
can’t sleep but feeling shattered and spiny if I try to get up.
Nausea
Sweating - a lot!! Need a fan on overnight to try and rest.
Now a cough
I very rarely take a sick day and have had to take 2 days off
Bored & hate feeling ill

Meadowfinch · 24/09/2024 09:55

OP, yes,dry & tickly.

The only thing that helps me sleep is warm lemon barley water with a nip of whisky in, and then sleeping slightly propped up on pillows.

I am getting better, gradually.

Wellfuckmesideways · 24/09/2024 18:44

No idea if I've got covid or not, but I've had sweats, chills, headache, vomited, BP dropped, temp spiked at 39.6, O2 was 92, normally 99 or 100. No cough or snot though.

Sunshineandrainbow · 02/11/2024 09:42

@HazeyjaneIII which antihistamine helped with your cough please.

Asthmatic DD has this at the moment and I am worried it is going to turn into a chest infection.
She has already had antibiotics in the last month for tonsillitis :(

I took cetirizine in the day and piriton at night... it did help with the cough, buy I did need steroids and antibiotics to get over the asthma flare up and chest infection that Covid triggered.
Hope your dd gets better soon. 🤞🏻

Jessie1259 · 02/11/2024 12:49

I had it a couple of weeks ago - terrible headaches were what stood out this time. When i had it a few years ago it was the terrible sore throat that stood out.

Cookie2204 · 06/11/2024 13:02
