What's up with my spooky windows?

I was out last night and came home around 11.30. The sitting room windows appeared to have a chalky film on them and when I have zoomed the photo closer there is a weird pattern visible. I have never seen this on my windows.

I've attached three pictures. Two with the weird substance in the them and one of it and one looking entirely normal this morning.

What on earth is it? If I hadn't taken photos I would have thought that I'd overdosed on Prosecco and been hallucinating!

Does no one want to look at my spooky windows? Okay. I'm not in the huff... much.

Isn't the circle the imprint of the tool they use to lift them?

NashvilleQueen · 19/09/2024 09:02

Looks like finger marks and then it's got cold and imprinted it

like when we used to finger draw cocks on the buss windows and then blow (!) on it to show the picture 😂

ASphinx · 19/09/2024 09:03

Isn’t it just dust/ dirt that doesn’t show up in daylight?

SpeculatingRooks · 19/09/2024 09:03

Yeah that's weird. Was the chalky stuff on the inside?
Why is there so much condensation?
Your garden is massive!

Spinet · 19/09/2024 09:04

Yes I don't mean this rudely but give them a good clean and they will look completely different tonight. Have you lived in the house in winter before? Or with small greasy children up to now?

Somethingsnappy · 19/09/2024 09:05

Do you have children by any chance?

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 19/09/2024 09:05

I agree, it's strange. 😶‍🌫️

SpeculatingRooks · 19/09/2024 09:06

It's not just the finger marks though, it's a weird round pattern!

JurrassicSnark · 19/09/2024 09:07

It's not strange, it's the imprint of the tools that stick on to the window panes to lift them. They sucker on to the window and are a swine to get rid of the marks which will appear when condensation shows on the window

Raquelos · 19/09/2024 09:09

I am pretty certain this is a sign that your windows have been possessed by pure evil!!!! Quick, get an emergency priest in to give them a good scrub with holy water or risk certain death by satanic haunting. 😵😫👻💀

As a pp said, that the tool fitters put in panes of glass/windows with.

Or this. Which is clearly more fun.

JurrassicSnark has it.

Search "circular suction glass lift tool". Looks like a burglar has tried the window on the offchance they could jiggle the handle lock off its stand.

They'll probably come back.

You should alert your neighbours and protect your house. Be as obvious as possible. Lights, camaras, signs, alarms.

Ah OK. Bit boring then. Needs a dehumidifier for the window sill.

Still shocked at the massive tidy garden though!

Thenose · 19/09/2024 09:22

I don't think the poster's implying the op doesn't clean her windows are looking at the pic properly. She's got topiaried hedges. She washes her windows.

ApolloandDaphne · 19/09/2024 09:25

The windows are clean! They are cleaned monthly at great bloody expense (there are a lot of windows). They have been in for two years now and I have never seen this dusty chalky looking film on them. I think they are definitely possessed by the devil!

Not boasting or anything but that is just a tiny bit of my garden. It's massive and very beautiful! I know I'm very lucky.

Then talk to your window-cleaners, OP. Show them the photo. They must have changed cleaning product, or the water left a deposit for some reason, like if the water mains were being flushed or something.

My children are adults and don't live here now.

I have 2 handprints on the outside of one of mine which is neither mine or dd and we never have anyone round. I've cleaned them but when it's cold they still show up. Freaks me the f out.

You too have spooky windows. It's obviously a thing.

CherryColaZero · 19/09/2024 09:52

Isn’t it because the window cleaners use a product that allegedly repels dirt and this is what it looks like when windows are cold?
